In our house we prepare bandli maavu with white rava after shoked in skimmed sour milk and with wheat flour combined with tamarind water. It our mothers receipe
I am from the neighboring village to Nagayyanallur. Every person in the village is a best cook. The Ramar of the village is a great Anugrahara moorthy. There is an Athishtanam of a sithar . They people celebrate all traditional function in its real style. Regarding making of Vanali Mavavu , pooli uppuma ,Banlimavu etc can be done by using rice flour also and without thuvar dall. My families favorite dish. Use good katti their (curd) as side dish.
Me too my grandpa town where my father was born and brought up. He retired from next village called murangapatty. My entire family lived there now my brother is there. My grandpa used to come there for Rama navami as a priest from murungapatty. Now my brother is coming

Hi, in our house we also do this with a slightly varied version. We grind everything except tamarind. Then let the batter ferment for 6-8 hours which would give the natural sourness to this dish. It was a dish frequently prepared while my grandma was with us. It is unfortunate that I was too young and did not have the curiosity to learn our traditional recipes while She was alive. This brings back so many memories. So warm seeing these videos.all the best
