There wasn't a much excitement around how Milton as you might think. We were hopeful but none of us were all that surprised when he didnt turn out to be a great passer. Then receivers got injured and it was downhill from there. But they still did decent considering what they had to work with. Nico's first start was against the supposed defense ever and he did pretty well from what i remember. I think expectations should be much higher from last season. I think making the playoff is 100% realistic.
Actually, there were plenty of drunk idiots glazing on Milton on the boobie bently show. They thought he was winning the Heisman. like legit went off on me when I told them they were nuts

And if I’m being honest I said Heupel is just being loyal to Joe because Nico is the most talented QB on the roster. And yes I think Nico should be playing but the program and Nico will benefit from him redshirting! Don’t give a damn how far Joe can throw the rock! 🤷♂️😂🤣🤡

@@Waniac Yes, I was hoping to see Gaston Moore play alot more. He has a good grip on what Heupel wants from the offense and is certainly serviceable.

He's SEC Mike, it's for business (Steve Spurrier book lol) I assume, when he talks about Tennessee he uses the word we alot, when talking about our Team UT Football Vols. He did while him and cousin Shane was going over our roster for this year and incoming freshman and such! Go Vols!

SEC Mike is being a realist with Tennessee football. I think he has valid points on NC State, Florida, and Oklahoma.
Especially Florida and Oklahoma. We aren’t know for consistently beating Florida and usually don’t win big road games.
I am completely rooting for wins in all of them.
We should beat FL... sure there have been plenty of times that we should have beaten that we didn't.. I think those days are mostly behind us now
Johnny Majors was fired because he couldn't beat Alabama. Then Fulmer ruled them for a decade. Those streaks can be beaten. And beaten well.
I am a VFL a 50 year season ticket holder and I always want 14-0, 15-0, 16-0, but I am a true football fan and I can see 3 loses not counting Florida. I have high hopes we can knock off OU &/or BAMA and go on to CFP. I would happily take a 10-02 regular season and call it a great year! Let the post season be whatever it is. UT baseball "could not" win it all, but they did . Many UT fans shoot too high every year. I WILL count Florida a win, WHEN we beat them.
We beat them literally 2 years ago, and the only reason we lost last year is bc the day before the game we lost an OL, and Cooper was out from the jump. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, Joe Milton in his first road game of the season, and Kennan Pili was lost for the season the game prior. Florida is getting skull drug. OU is fair to question. NC State is a joke to a program like ours, or should be at least.
florida might be top 3 worst teams in the SEC this year.

To many injuries and inconsistent play at qb and wr tn will be better this year and heupal is a great coach and the first 4 games are important especially breaking in a new qb

9-3 I’d be proud of. 10-2 would be excellent. The SEC is the toughest conference and it just got tougher with Texas/OU. If Vols fans aren’t at least happy with 9-3, I don’t know what to say.
Defense is top notch
Offense will be back to where it should be w/ the change at QB
RB is my biggest question mark

This is a big year for Heupel to prove himself. 9 and 3 is the only floor I will be ok with, 10 and 2 is really where I think we should be at. 8 and 4 is unacceptable. Sorry but it is, and our recruiting will suffer if that happens. Losing to Florida is unacceptable imo

9-3 seems like the most probable outcome. I just don't see us making the playoffs
An inconsistent Milton + Poor WR play doomed the 2023 team to play below their potential. The Defense was improved and the running game was solid. We are poised to have a strong season and be competitive with any team. I still have doubts about our matchups against UGA but that makes the Vols and every other team in CFB.

I have them pegged at 10-2 with maybe 1 CFP win. The problem is I think the only reason they will be a high end team is purely on QB talent and offensive scheme, and will need the time to build a team that can stand up to top 5/10 foes with stronger defenses and a decent enough offense to score a lot on them.
I’m buying into the Vols. One loss team. Ags and Vols will be the 2 surprise teams of the year
I know it’s the same old narrative but look at where this program was at when JH got here and how many players ran! It’s taking time to recruit players that this coaching staff wants and has trust in them. This is the first qb that this staff recruited and other positions as well. Let’s let Nico take the rains to this offense and score points and then get the defense to bow up. GBO 🍊🏈
Nico’s first year. Some new players in both sides of the ball learning the system. I can see 2-4 losses but I’m hopeful for only 1-2. We will know what we are capable of after the Oklahoma game.
It will depend entirely on the health of the offensive line, like many years. We have a good starting 5, but the depth after that can't hang with top 10 teams.

Anybody that really watches football knew what Milton was when he left Mi-cheat-again. If they didn't know then, they learned who he was in the Pitt game in 2021.

TN just needs Nico to be "serviceable". There are enough pieces around him to grow into a great QB. What alot of people don't get is that Joe Milton didn't make quick decisions enough and that's the stark difference between him and Hooker.

I would say our secondary is our weakest on defense. alot of new starters. The offense should go more smoothly with a mobile qb at the helm and if the wr room performs they have loads of talent in that room for another air raid. I'm not expecting playoffs with our current defense but I am expecting more points this year and maybe a game or two we aren't suppose to win.
@@David-mk9nc our secondary was so mediocre last year that it's hard for to be too tore up about basically none of those guys being back. Let's see what the new batch can do. Even if it's a disaster it would only be a small downgrade from what we had.
Good assessment. I’m gonna go with an 8-4 season. I just don’t think they will get over that Florida hump. It might be the game that saves Napier’s job, and I stress the word might.
D line is only good part of the team? Ever since huep has been there we’ve had top 5 front 7 in the sec just a terrible secondary.
Expectation in knozvilke are wayyy too high. Sorry just not an elite program so how are u'all expecting those type of results? Nico is unproven & young botg of those going into the first year starting in the SEC = let down...im looking for NC State to upset tenn early. For the fact nico isnt ready for the big time yet....look for twnn to have AT LEAST 3losses, prob 4 is fair & no playoffs....but 2025 season look for a step up when heupels impeoved recruiting & those players start hitting the field.

Milton didnt have a target last year. Give him an offense designed for a pocket passer and at least one reliable receiving target and he would have a much better time. He still has issues with slow decision making and low football IQ. Nico's mobility will already put him a step ahead of Milton, and he does seem to have much better vision. However, he will still need a target. Once again we are hopig one will emerge but there is a chance that doesnt happen. There was a lot of hype last year about Ramel Keyton and Donte Thornton and neither was a reliable target for Milton last year.
we actually one of themost loaded WR rooms in the Nation. We've got 3rd string guys that would start at other p4 schools
@@greenwave819 there isn't a single proven WR on our team. Bru McCoy is the closest thing, but who knows what he will be after that horrible.onjury last season. Squirrel and Thornton did not do anything last season where you could say they are a dependable target for Nico. We have to hope one of those 3 progresses, or that one of the younger guys or one of the transfers excels. There needs to be at least one "guy" on the team for the Vols to have an elite offense. As of right now there isn't one.
