We’ve had other QB we were very excited about, not Manning level, but we’ve had several that were way hyped turned out over hyped, but it was obvious from their first series that maybe they wouldn’t live up to the hype. Nico exceeded expectations in his first start and he might go beyond the hype if he wins any one of these three SEC championship, National Championship or the Heisman he will have lived up to the hype if he can win 2 out of those three he will have surpassed the hype if he leads the Vola to an SEC Championship a Playoff appearance and finishes in the top three of the Heisman they’ll name a street after him. Maybe he can be like the Iceman on the road I know I’d take that, he’s got the wheels to make fast aggressive Defenses like Georgia pay if they blitz and he can slip in front of the rushers he can hit the long ball or run for the first down or TD himself. He could be Tennessee’s Cam Newton, Tim Tebow or Jonny Football ? It’s too early to tell but I hope he’s that type of player who can put the team on his back and will put a win when it seems like all hope is lost?

@@vols-deep everyone was pretty excited about Banks but they tried to run a two QB system that year nobody like Peyton or Niko hype but we’ve had several QBs that were supposed to be very good but they were either busts or not coached up. I guess we’ve had a string of should be more than adequate recruits that didn’t pan out. I really enjoyed watching Tyler Bray and those monster receivers his stats were pretty good except for the Ws and Ls if we’d had an elite high school defense that year with CP Dooley might have accidentally coached himself an extension. I’m a battered Vol and I would like to say I think Niko is special but I’m hesitant to get too excited just for the wheels to come off in the Florida game. I think we’ve turned the corner from that type of stuff I hope we have. By looking at recruiting ratings we haven’t had scrubs for 20 years we haven’t had anyone to get anything extra and coach them up but we’ve had QBs that would’ve started and been successful for any other school besides Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. On paper we should’ve been finishing 3rd or 4th in the SEC if we had any kind of coaching at all since Lane Kiffin and yeah he was the last coach that coached anyone up until Heupul . What he did with Crompton in the Georgia game and the rest of that season was amazing.

People act like he was bought and that's why he came to Tennessee. I'd say that's a slap at Nico and his character on an assumption.
Like Tennessee doesn't have a rich history of great players and the coaching staff hasn't developed the Qb position and the head coach wasn't a great QB himself. And the culture and life of the players isn't the best. And the character of the coaching staff inst the best. So many things that we throw out when we assume Nico's character was to chase the money. Kinda makes our character look worse then what you assume his is.

The 98 game was in Knoxville.
BTW, Nico was NEVER going to play last year down the stretch because there was no chance to make the playoffs. ZERO chance. We were losing players left and right. The defense couldn’t stop anybody and the WR’s couldn’t catch a cold. In their defense Joe threw it late and way too hard. A lot of those drops were 100% on Joe. Plus, Joe couldn’t read the coverages and we had trouble with protections. I’m so bored with the revision of history that UT fans are so fond of. We’re still hearing about Alvin Kamara being mis-used when at the time Jalen Hurd was working on setting UT records. I don’t remember a single article from any outlet covering UT or any debates online about it at the time. It wasn’t a thing until AK went off for the Saints. There you go. Consider yourself straighten out on the subject.
