Thats a cool segment. My (game) Collection was simular size than yours and i did the same from time to time. Strolling the Collection and give some Games a chance!
I was pulling for you to pick out Top Gear for the SNES. I loved that game as a kid. Buddy of mine and I would come home from school, plow through our homework, then meet up at each other's houses and play that game for hours.
What a revolutionary concept … ;) Love this approach, more retrogame-tubers should do this, so many gems, and so much crap, hours of fun - keep up the great work :)
I dont know how easy it is to remember what you havent played but my rule of thumb for movies and games is if it hasnt been watched or played it goes in a movie pile or game pile and not on the shelf. Having a large stack of movies or games on a coffee table is a good visual reminder of what needs to be watched or played, that way when you see the stacks you feel more compelled to watch or play what you havnt. I feel like if unwatched or unplayed items already placed on the shelf are out of sight out mind and makes it harder to get around to it cause it already neat and tighty on the shelf.
Desert strike and jungle strike bring back memories for me. I used to play that game for hours with my dad. He died about 20 years ago, so I still load it up once in a while. Last time I played it with my son and he loved it just as much as I used to
You have no idea how much time we invested into the battle tank series, and the strike series in the early 90's. They were awesome games, played them all to completion several times. Kids these days I tell ya
@Gaming The Systems oh God. These games were pretty popular back when they came out. I especially remember spending enormous amounts of time on super battletank 2. My dad was a huge fan of the battle tank series. My friends and I spent so much time beating these games. They were incredible. I can understand not exactly liking them much if your first playing is in the modern Era. Back when they came out, it was pretty mindblowing. Great video by the way. Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!
Nice video. Life is about living, so if you can actually give yourself a reason to play some games, I still think it's worth to experience some small part of them even if you don't play them all the way through. It's not about just collecting games and leaving them on shelves to collect dust.
I really enjoy your content, thanks for making it. I am not overly into retro games, but am in my late 30s and have gamed my whole life. There is just something about your videos that I find refreshing and fun. Keep it up.
Thanks for reflecting upon these "memories". By the way, Critical Depth was a fantastic multiplayer game. A rare co-op game of its kind. The 3-D graphics certainly looked awful as many PS1 games did, but the gameplay (especially boss battles), with a buddy, was super fun.
You're spot on about these games being like memories Kevin! Sometimes i just think of the great times I've had with them, I feel it best not to force that point and risk sullying my memories.
I'm going to encourage you to keep going with demon's crest. Yes, it is a commitment, but it's worth it. It's vaguely metroid-Vania, in the sense you'll unlock forms that will unlock new sections of maps. And the locations continue to impress. (once you get the final form, it feels so good)
Good video 👍 It’s a bit overwhelming trying to pick games to play from the past that you haven’t played before. There are SO many games, it’s a legitimately tough choice lol. It’s a high quality problem, I know, but …damn: I want to play them all at some point, but time is flying by!
Did you really throw that first art on the ground or was that a sound effect edited in???? I'm sure you really threw it on. A pillow to preserve retro games in the best condition possible
This is such a novel and fresh idea. And its funny cause its literally just you playing games off your shelf. Retro gamers are sometimes infamous for just letting their games collect dust (guilty myself). More retro game TH-camrs outta do this. Loved the video. Honestly wanna do a similar style video like this too!
Thank you for noting a very difficult, yet often overlooked period in history! The Great Dessert Strike was a trying time for us all. I had to eat fresh fruit anytime my sweet tooth was raging. I've since gained back the 32 pounds I'd lost during the event 😢
You in the thumbnail...that is all of us with a decent-sized collection. P.S. If you're gonna funk around on the PS3, then I recommend playing Brütal Legend (I'm actually currently re-playing it)...it's an underrated metal gem. P.P.S. In my head-canon, Choplifter! on the Master System is the first game in the "Strike" series (Urban Strike is my personal favorite).
I had Kirby's Avalanche as a kid (known over here as Kirby's Ghost Trap) and it was awesome, I put so many hours into that game, just a good simple puzzle game!
I remember my ps2 messing up like that even back in the day. You can lift up one end of the ps2 and drop it down, making it jog the lazer slightly. Sometimes that works to get it reading the disk again in a pinch.
I'm so glad you read the manuals. Few things are as irritating as watching someone complain about aspects of a game they don't understand, but would if they had just read before starting.
For your PS2, have you considered FreeMCBoot? It can be paired with external storage to load backed up ISOs; I use a Pi 3B+ as a Samba file server that the utility OPL can load from the on-board Ethernet, so you aren’t restricted to too-slow USB. You just need an official MagicGate card, and you can use the card for game saves after doing so. It isn’t perfect - multi-disc game images must be loaded independently and can’t be hot-swapped, so switching discs on the fly for expansion discs like DW: Xtreme Legends won’t fully work, and otherwise, you’ll have to save at the end of a Disc 1, reboot the console, and load the Disc 2 ISO in OPL for standard multi-disc games. It will save on your laser, though! Note: FreeDVDBoot does work to create a FreeMCBoot memory card, but it took me three discs and several hours across two days just to get that method to load. With an aging laser, I *don’t* recommend it compared to buying a preconfigured FreeMCBoot memory card or using someone’s existing FMCB card to create your own. My PS2 tried to read the discs so intensely that it actually etched the discs with the laser.
I don't know if you are a pokemon fan or not... Jade Cocoon is actually a good game to play the beginning is around 20 mins, but then the game is fairly straightforward monster collection game with a few twists and one special one that lets you combine any two to get a new monster... yeah that is basically it's own series... I am subscribed
Cool video idea, nice. And King's Knight IIRC, is a port of the MSX game Knightmare. It's am early game, like a vertical shooter where u play as a little knight instead of a ship. Wild No. 9 is a pretty fun sidescrolling platformer from the Earthworm Jim guys. And we need all the PS1 sidescrollers we can get. I also still read manuals before I play the game. Especially for older games, sometimes there's crucial info in there that is found no where else. Plus, it's not cute when youtubers crap all over a perfectly good and playable game because they didn't read the controls. I don't know why everyone thinks that's so cool or something lol
A cool video may be talking about games that may have issues now that they are so old, batteries dying....cartridge life....or disc life... made me think of this during your outro when you were saying it's up to us to keep things going
not even a soft pad for poor Zelda when you tossed it on the floor? =/ jk,great content my friend. your views on games are unique. why i enjoy your channel so much. sarcasm, humor, video games and uniqueness all rolled into one.
Just came across this video from earlier last year so not sure if you ever tried Kings Knight on NES but its not an ROG, its a unique scrolling up shooter, highly recommend. If you havent tried it do it. Would have been great for the video.
I thought Tank Battle game was on the Genesis but it was a different game called M1 Abrams Tank Battle which I played a lot it was one of the first light sim type games I played.
I barely played the PS3 because there wasn’t anything on it that was exclusive, and I had a 360 first, so I played it more. That said, the one game I did play was 3D Dot Game Heroes. It’s sort of a simple Link to the Past clone, made in 3D with bit-styled graphics and some character designing to boot. It’s my go-to for a hidden gem suggestion for the PS3.
I thought about it the other day, but man, does the NTSC PS2 games look great on a shelf.. For the PAL region, we got the blue cases, but the spines are very dull, their all white... Thankfully, the PS3 changed that, and my collection looks rather colourful.
Man, I've never heard of a PS1 laser going out, i thought they were way more reliable than DVD lasers like the PS2 laser. You should make a video on trouble shooting/repairing them.
I also have always been curious about desert strike but never played it. I think ill try to get my hands on it to give it a go. Looks like my type of game. I do this also sometimes, ill open my excel sheet of my collection and just filter it with stuff i havent played yet, and ill put it into a randomizer online. I usually dont commit as well as you did though haha
Yeah I thought the Dreamcast footage looked great. Doesn't always happen that way. It was s-video converted to HDMI with a Retrotink 5x and then passed through an El Gato 60.

Good to know
✊🏆
Decap attack.... very fond memories of that game from being a kid. It's totally 90s crude as I remember.
Your chapter titles 😂
Can you stop with the meaningless chapters? Its not funny
I like your simplicity. Everything feels natural. Nothing over the top. Nothing too scripted. No overacting. Just a simple, humble man making videos of his passion. I hope you always stay this way.
Great video! Please keep this idea going! And thank you for all the great content! Keep up the great work!
Glad you didn’t pick Aerobiz. I loved that game when I was younger, but it’s definitely a game that takes a while with a high learning curve.
The thumbnail for this, is perfection. I don't think you realize just how good of a photo it is
Thanks. That is a very old Cannon wide angle lens with adapter to fit on a Sony camera. I'm glad you like it.
Desert Strike was my go to game on my Megadrive!! Amazing game. :)
Thats a cool segment. My (game) Collection was simular size than yours and i did the same from time to time. Strolling the Collection and give some Games a chance!
You've inspired me. I'm going to do the same thing. There's a lot of games in my collection I haven't played yet.
Loved the concept and execution of this video. Awesome stuff! I hope you keep doing these.
PS laughed out loud at Dessert Strike
Dude, you are the first person that understands how vital it is to read these games’ manuals thoroughly before playing them!!
I was pulling for you to pick out Top Gear for the SNES. I loved that game as a kid. Buddy of mine and I would come home from school, plow through our homework, then meet up at each other's houses and play that game for hours.
Awesome! It’s a great Friday when there’s a new video from gaming the systems!
What a revolutionary concept … ;) Love this approach, more retrogame-tubers should do this, so many gems, and so much crap, hours of fun - keep up the great work :)
@@CasualConsoleGamerGuy Sounds like a great idea :)
@@AndreSjoberg Thanks, and thank you for the sub! Much appreciated!!
@@CasualConsoleGamerGuy Always fun to follow new tubers, looking good so far :)
@@AndreSjoberg Thanks again! Hoping it'll only get better from here! 🙂
I need to do this with my digital collection on PC. I've got roughly 3,000 games free on PC throughout the years and maybe played 30 of them.
I adore this concept! Honestly, every collector should do this once in a while to enjoy their collection.
Would love to see a more detailed video about how you keep your shelf spaces clean.
Beautifully dreamy collection. Taken care of the way we'd all like to. This is my favorite collection and set up on all of TH-cam!
I am so happy you are making videos for this channel. I appreciate you.
Great video, nice and chilled and a productive way for you to upload videos whilst inspiring yourself to dust off the collection a little bit
this video was 25 minutes, but time flew so quick it was that enjoyable to watch. thanks!
I really liked the idea of you playing 5 random games you never played before. I think you should do more :)
I dont know how easy it is to remember what you havent played but my rule of thumb for movies and games is if it hasnt been watched or played it goes in a movie pile or game pile and not on the shelf.

Hey, great video as always. After watching this video, I definitely added some of the games you talked about to my games I should check out list.

I can’t believe you first grabbed blades of vengeance! I was staring right at it! That is a strange coincidence or great minds think alike.
It's the kind of game you pick up, and then put back down. LOL.
Good video 👍
It’s a bit overwhelming trying to pick games to play from the past that you haven’t played before. There are SO many games, it’s a legitimately tough choice lol. It’s a high quality problem, I know, but …damn: I want to play them all at some point, but time is flying by!
The beginning was hilarious! Dust has been my eternal enemy!
Great vid as always, I loved the Aliens references in your chapter listings :)
I love that you subconsciously chose all tank games
You have the most creative video topics I've seen on TH-cam. Great video!
LOL’d for real when you threw that cart like it was nothing 😂
Did you really throw that first art on the ground or was that a sound effect edited in???? I'm sure you really threw it on. A pillow to preserve retro games in the best condition possible
No he threw it as hard as he could. He doesn't have any pillows in the game room and the cart has been completely annialated.
No respect to Zelda link to the past 😭💔

Man, that’s crazy. I could go for some Killzone 2 multiplayer in 2023 💫🏆
The current KZ2 community has about 100 players, and a lot of them play on Saturdays. Go for it.
I'm glad you are more active on this channel even though you said that your focus would be on your main channel.

I never played it but Desert Strike just feels incredible of it's time, really takes me back.
I really like the collection (the amount of games and all that) and how it's organized!

Shadow man on Dreamcast is good. Once you figure the controls, it’s the best version.

Great video, you should definitely make this a series. 1 a month should be doable, right?
Great idea for a series.
Gary Kitchen Super Battletank War in the Gulf is amazing on SNES
I also have always been curious about desert strike but never played it. I think ill try to get my hands on it to give it a go. Looks like my type of game.

Blades of vengeance is a fun game in my opinion on the Genesis, it's tough but has good controls and graphics
Great video, how's the Dreamcast hooked up? Graphics seem sharp👍
Yeah I thought the Dreamcast footage looked great. Doesn't always happen that way. It was s-video converted to HDMI with a Retrotink 5x and then passed through an El Gato 60.
@Gaming The Systems the retrotink is the secret sauce 😊
Haha Blades of Vengeance grabbed me too.
