  • Examine the subtle differences between these 2 popular diffusion filters along with some concerns when filming in certain filming environments.
In all the excitement, I misused the term LENS FLARE.
There were lens flares but mostly double reflections between the front lens element and the rear surface of each diffusion filter.
These filters worked well in daylight but filming at night was a challenge. As you can see, both filters had quite a bit of double reflection issues, especially with headlights.I edited out much of it because I felt it was just too distracting.
Overall, I liked both filters but after this test, the Moment Cinebloom 5% might be my new favorite diffusion filter.

It’s crazy how sharp the camera is without the filter and it looks weird. The diffusion filters do make it look for natural. It’s such a little difference but it looks better.

You are good in front of the camera. Some of these reviews are lame! Keep it up - subscribed!

Hi, thanks for sharing this video. Flare is a little cons but overall IMO both filters look very interesting. Considering you use weakest ones, why not stake them up? Or compare with stronger?
    Cheers

Finally! A video that is honest about the horrible double reflections from these black mist filters. I thought I was going crazy because I was getting these gross reflective flares anytime I had direct light or practicals in the shot when shooting with a 1/8th black mist pro. And no TH-cam videos were illustrating this issue. I mailed the filter back because it made the images unusable for pro use. I noticed that the K&F black mist filters "claim" they have a anti-reflection coating on them... Do you have any experience with those, or know whether that's just sales line or is something that actually prevents these reflections? Great informative vid! Thank you. Just subscribed. :)

      Thank you my brother!
ALL of these diffusion filters are almost unusable except for shooting portraits with specific backdrops.
      (No moving lights)
I worked in the film industry for 23 years belonging to Local 600 and these filters were used sparingly and ONLY with an ARF, a custom made angled filter adapter made by Panavision, to combat these terrible double reflections.
As far as K& F goes, I would err on the side of caution as they are also identical to the filters I tested. Coatings or no coatings, double reflections will only minimized if you can somehow angle the filter forward or backward and tape up the gaps. Not so professional...
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

@@camerasandcoffee3466 Thanks! :) The angling of the filters makes perfect sense. The angled filter adapter is a great suggestion. I see one online. Would just have to figure out how to rig it for pans, and camera frame changes. Feels like there might be a solution to this somewhere. Thanks for the lead :)

Yes nobody mention this as I watched so many comparsion and review. And when I shoot in real life, the double reflection is more present than iphone footage.I had to take it off once just the double reflection is too ugly.

I've never had a diffusion filter and I was very curious, but this video has dissuaded me. Those double reflections are intense. Do they clean up at all with tighter apertures?

I have the 10% Cinebloom I like it sometimes but I do mostly photography . Sometimes the flaring gets a little busy but overall it adds the look I want.
