I am 75yrs. of age and have been reading Bhagwat Gita several times in Hindi and English language, but am not enjoying without recitation and understanding its sloka in Sanskrit language. So it an attempt to learn the great language at this age. May lord Krishna helps me to learn it and enjoy recitation of Bhagwat Gita.

If you know Hindi , learning Sanskrit is easier as there are many common words. My suggestion is you can buy a self learning book like Learn Sanskrit in 30 days through Hindi.

I'm German! When I was first confronted with the Sanskrit language, a professor said to me:
त्वं जीव शरदः शतम्।
Then he explained the meaning in German to me word for word
त्वं = Du = you
जीव = leben (mögen) = to live (may you live)
शरदः = Herbste = autumns
शतम् = hundert = hundred
Mögest du hundert Jahre alt werden = May you live one hundred years.
Already with this sentence I saw that the language has similar references to German and especially to Latin. When I asked him, why I should live one hundred years, he replied that it takes 100 years to learn Sanskrit. That was of course a challenge for me and that's how I learned Sanskrit. That was 57 years ago when I was seventeen years old. In the absence of a Sanskrit teacher, I taught myself Sanskrit on my own. Since I have often found Indians to be very personable people, I learned this language very quickly and experienced many amazing things with it! Many Indians have treated me as if I were a demigod! I also gave Sanskrit lessons in evening schools and was amazed at the great interest in this language. I often had more than 40 students each course!

@@nishantjoshi4392 Ob es eine deutsche Kultur, ist schwierig zu sagen. Es ist wie in Indien. Jede Provinz hat ihre eigene Kultur und auch unterschiedliche Völker. In Deutschland ist der Norden germanisch geprägt. Der nordöstliche Teil sogar slawisch. Der Süden ist keltisch und römisch geprägt. Das merkt man sehr, wenn man sich im Norden, oder im Süden befindet. In Indien gab es, bevor die Arier (द्विजाति) einwanderten, schon eine Hochkultur bei den Ureinwohnern. Es hat viele Kulturelemente auch von anderen Völkern aufgenommen, wie von den Persern und Mongolen. Es konnte sogar eine Kultur entstehen, die den gesamten Subkontinent umfaßte.
Da viele kulturelle Errungenschaften in der Sprache des Sanskrits verfaßt wurden, so öffnet die Sprache Sanskrit einen Zugang, zu einer bemerkenswerten Kultur, die viele Schätze in sich birgt.
(Ich biete dir jetzt schon das "Du" an, und will auf das förmliche "Sie" verzichten)
Ich wünsche Dir viel Spaß und Freude beim Erlernen der deutschen Sprache und mach dir mal nicht so große Sorgen, wenn es mit der Grammatik nicht so gut klappt. Deine Muttersprache hast du auch ohne Grammatik gelernt. Deine Mutter machte keine großen Erklärungen, wie man etwas sagt. Sie hat bestimmt nur gesagt, daß man etwas so sagen sollte, wie sie es sagt. Du mußtest es einfach nur nachsprechen, bis du es korrekt gesagt hattest.
Was uns beide verbindet, ist das Menschliche. Darin sind wir uns ähnlich! Während die Kultur spezielles Wissen, Erkenntnisse und Erfahrungen speichert.
Ich freue mich ebenso sehr, dich kennen gelernt zu haben.

Ich bin 23 Jahre alt und seit 2016 lerne ich Deutsch aber nur vor zwei Jahren habe ich darauf mich viel interessiert. Ich schreibe sehr gern und habe kleine Geschichte und Gedichte auf Hindi und Englisch geschrieben. Sie sind noch nicht veröffentlicht. Seit meiner Kindheit wollte ich mich besser äußern, auf verschiedenen Sprachen. Und auch besser schreiben. Meine Vorfahren sprachen Sanskrit. Aber nun spricht keiner. Ich komme aus dem Nordwestlichen Teil des Landes. Also, ich bin auch überrascht, die Ähnlichkeiten zwischen diese zwei Sprachen zu merken. Aber irgendwie möchte ich nicht Sanskrit jetzt völlig lernen.
Ich habe mich sehr sehr gefreut, dass ich Sie hier gefunden habe. Für mich ist es wie Ehre. Möchte gern melden.

I can speak Hindi, sanskrit, english, German languages and sanskrit is not only one of the oldest language in the world it is mother of all languages and if someone learn Sanskrit language can learn all other languages very easily.

@@lavmaurya129 Sanskrit isn't the "mother of all languages", such thing doesn't exist in the real world. And learning it won't help you with learning all languages, only those that have same grammatical structures as Sanskrit.

We do not learn the logic of numbers (Number Theory) when we start numbers for the first time as a Kid (3-5 years), we memorize them and learn the logic later.
The same is a language, first, you learn it then the logic. The problem in our education was we learn languages like Sanskrit by memorizing but not by practice, the same way many South Indians learn Hindi.
Now, do you know why it is very difficult for many Indians to understand or Accept Hindi as the Defacto Language of India?
Unfortunately most sanskrit teachers don't respect the language themselves . They teach just to earn a living. Such teachers are doing a massive disservice to sanskrit.

I’m from Mexico, I studied neuroscience. I speak 3 European languages but I’m very interested in learning Sanskrit because of the mantras and their sounds as it is said they change the brain. Watching this from USA! Very inspiring and makes me want to drop everything I am doing and learn the language that has taught the humanity how to live for centuries! Also makes me wonder how can a nation be so blind to sideline such a treasure and put it in the league of optional languages in schools. We need more people like you to revive Sanskrit to it’s full glory and hopefully one day we won’t be debating whether India has a national language or not.

A place where I stay was the point where ashoka daughter sanghamitra took voyage to Srilanka in around 300 BC for teaching Buddism, as per the eddicts here...... Technically, "evolved" seems like the wrong word to use here. It implies that this language itself evolved over time, where the exact opposite is true.
It is incredibly old and pretty much was conserved as a relic of the past in religious texts without any change whatsoever, while other languages did in fact evolve out of it, with a large percentage of what is spoken in Europe and western/central Asia being based on Sanskrit. Therefore, languages like Urdu, Spanish or Irish have evolved from Sanskrit.
It certainly had its own incredibly interesting evolution before becoming the unmoving and unchanging monument hundred and thousands of years ago, but since we have no material from that period, we can only reconstruct some aspects of how it became what it was.
But certainly, Sanskrit is a very important language, and it is a rich and beautiful one, worthy of further study and use.
The set of verses from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, below, confirms to me that Sanskrit is eternally perfect and descends from the spiritual realm. Also, the manifestation of the Sanskrit alphabet in the cakras is a powerful clue that Sanskrit just is.
SB 11.21.38-40: Just as a spider brings forth from its heart its web and emits it through its mouth, the Supreme Personality of Godhead manifests Himself as the reverberating primeval vital air, comprising all sacred Vedic meters and full of transcendental pleasure. Thus the Lord, from the ethereal sky of His heart, creates the great and limitless Vedic sound by the agency of His mind, which conceives of variegated sounds such as the sparśas. The Vedic sound branches out in thousands of directions, adorned with the different letters expanded from the syllable oṁ: the consonants, vowels, sibilants and semivowels. The Veda is then elaborated by many verbal varieties, expressed in different meters, each having four more syllables than the previous one. Ultimately the Lord again withdraws His manifestation of Vedic sound within Himself.
@@sertaki The languages of Europe are not descended from Sanskrit. The languages of most of Europe and of Northern India are both descended from a common ancestor that predates Sanskrit by a fair bit of time.
I am an American (USA) who just recently became interested in sanskrit because I got a copy of the ramayana of valmiki in english and the introduction said that no translation could possibly match the beauty of the original text. I look forward to learning from this channel and this was an excellent introduction.

Just as they share their roots with the languages I grew up with: German and Polish - even if our tongues are very distant cousins instead of sisters. :)

I learnt Sanskrit - the mother of all languages - in very systematic way during my school days thru "Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharashtra" and was even able to converse in it a little bit. But had lost the touch of my this most favourite language. Now after retirement, I am trying to go back to the language.
I saw many videos on learning Sanskrit but was puzzled to see the way it is taught these days. It is totally different now. We learnt "Pratham Purush - प्रथम पुरुष", "Dwitiya Purush - द्वितीय पुरुष" and Trutiya Purush - तृतीय पुरुष" respectively and now it is "Uttam Purush, Madhyam Purush and Pratham Purush". I dont remember having learnt "L-kar - ल कार" etc., but without it we learnt Sanskrit very well. I don't know whether the original Sanskrit grammer refers to "L-kar ल कार", but ok, it may be new modified way of learning. But I feel - and I may be wrong - it certainly has made learning the language more difficult.
Now I am 68 and am learning Shrimad Bhagwad geeta - श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता. Earlier knowledge of Sanskrit makes my learning very enjoyable. I am once again enjoying playing with "Sandhi-Vigrah, preparing Pada Chheda, Anvaya, etc. etc." It is great excitement. After watching your videos on "Bhagwad Geeta", I felt extremely comfortable and realized this is the right place to pursue Sanskrit again, may be with modified or revised ways. Your perfect pronunciations and extremely fluent English translation of the shlokas of the Geeta fulfills the heart with contentment.

If you know Hindi just get hold of any elementary sanskrit text and start reading it . Or else start reading the Bhagvat Gita. It will be a slow process but very rewarding.

@@NotcoolNotcool See for Samskrt, any script which can represent all the sounds and words in Samskrt/Vedas can be used. The language used in the Vedas is termed as Vaidik bhasha and not Sanskrit. The Vedas were originally received as Sound Vibrations by the ancient sages,and the Vedic Knowledge were later transmitted orally generation after generation until they were written down. Since the Vedic language originally didn't have a script(that's why Vedas are termed as Shruti Shastras), Samskrt being her Direct child doesn't have her own Script,contrary to the belief that the Vedas were composed by Rshis and Rshikas in Samskrt.And as I've already said, ask anybody who teaches Vedic Suktam.
Now coming towards your question: "whose script is Devanagari then?" See Devanagari is the script of many Indian languages which are Derivatives of Samskrt,but there are also many languages which doesn't use that script.So Your argument is also out of line 😂😂. Even the non Devanagari scripts are also invented by Samskrt speakers only.
Reason behind usage of Devanagari script: the Devanagari script has enough letters that can represent all the Vedic and Samskrt words/Sounds. So it has been made the De jure mode to represent Samskrt words. But other script that can represent all the words in Vaidik bhasa or Samskrt can also be used,thats why people who are not comfortable with Devanagari script either use the some other VALID script or they use the IAST script.

I really want to learn the Sanskrit language (the scientific divine language - which is the mother of all the languages of the world) but the fact is we are not taught Sanskrit in our schools. In my ICSE BOARD school, English is my 1st lang, Bengali (my mother tongue) is my 2nd lang, and Hindi is my 3rd lang, and we don't have the option to choose languages. So, even if a few children like me develop the interest of learning Sanskrit, but all that interest is lost due to our School's education system.
But then too I will look forward to ways of learning Sanskrit, so that I can increase my brain power, and since it is the greatest of all languages, so it will become easier for me to understand and learn other languages once I learn Sanskrit, and I will also be able to read and understand Bhagvat Gita, Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayan, Mahabharat and all the Ancient Sanatan Dharmic scripts of India.
My father was a Sanskrit teacher in Government school and I'm in 9th class now & also I'll learn Sanskrit 🌝
