Please do not give in to Acura's request to take down this video. Taking it down would be the wrong thing to do. It is purely factual. Deleting facts from history harms everyone.
All 2023 have a high pitch tone that Acura says is normal. This is what the dealer said when I took it in. Beware my loaner another 2023 with more mileage had the high pitch tone louder than mine. Opened a case with Acura. No one knows what causes the annoying high tone pitch sound. Sounds like a bearing or something too tight. Buyers beware !! Poor dealership service and responses.
@@Yaboringme before you buy certified, someone have to buy it new, so if you say never buy new, how you going to get used? I always buy my car new, never had problems with none, my current car is 3 years old , still don't have problems.

Acura contacted me this week and were supposed to assist us with returning our MDX and getting our trade in value back from the dealer but they failed to come through. They mentioned asking me to take my video down but are dragging their heels. Views are climbing rapidly, should be passing 10,000 tonight, well into the teens by next week.

Thank you for posting this video. I wish I had seen this earlier. I had a lot of problems with my 2019 RDX advance, with the infotainment system, constantly going black and glitching and disconnecting CarPlay etc. etc. Acura basically took the car back from me and put me into a 22 MDX advance instead back in September of last year. I have had nothing but problems with the new MDX. My infotainment screen has gone black five times, I’m waiting for the dealer to give me an appointment to get another loaner. I can’t use the charging pad with my iPhone, they say it’s a known issue with the magnet in the new iPhones but they have no fix. My brakes are squeaking all over all day and they are also aware of this issue with the new MDX and they have no fix. They are constantly telling me that the tech issues are related to me or my iphone, that the problems I have with the car are my own doing, it’s just ridiculous. I bought a $62,000 vehicle and it’s had nothing but problems and it’s constantly in the shop. I’m currently speaking with some lemon law attorneys. I’ve had enough with Acura and I will never ever ever ever ever buy a car from this brand ever again!
I just went to test drive an 2022 RDX on Saturday and heard wind noise from the sunroof. After leaving the dealership, I started to look for videos and posts with issues with the Acura. I will now pass on buying an Acura. Thank you for your post.
My 2003 MDX Tech has zero issues. It is my daily. 266,000 greatly enjoyed miles. The oil is semi-transparent at 3,000 mile synthetic oil changes! I am sorry for your terrible experience with the new MDX. Acura used to be legendary!
Agreed, 2003 MDX , almost 300,000 kms and only issue was the trunk struts finally gave out this winter,,,never even replaced battery in fob after almost 20 years….
@@curtissanjenko285 That is fantastic! It is by far the best vehicle that my Family has ever owned! Audi, BMW, and Range Rover have not even compared to the MDX! An absolute beast! 💪🏽
Thank you for your share and comments, I am planning to have one and dealing with the local acura dealer this week. I also stay in a cold area in Alverta, Canada, I m lucky to see your review today.
All too familiar with this and as a Technician for Acura.. I share your frustration. ACURA and Honda introduced a new CAN protocol for their vehicles starting in about 2019. The new MOST system is faster and more powerful… when it works. The 2019 RDX was the first ACURA vehicle to use this system and let’s just say there were many complaints of glitchy infotainment systems along with other communication problems shortly after it was released. I have replaced dash harnesses, body harnesses, infotainment control units, tuner units, amplifiers, FAKRA connectors and they just cannot seem to perfect the system to just… work. The new TLX and MDX is proof of that, as they share the same MOST system and we have already begun to fix those problems as well. They’re introducing too much new tech at one time while trying to integrate them with existing technology while also changing communication systems that have worked flawlessly for decades. QC is also not there.
Thanks for your comment; yup this is 100% exactly what I have learned about these since we had the problem with ours. Definitely bought one primarily based on Honda/Acura's false reputation for quality. I consulted with some engineers on the problem - and their consensus was that Acura just outright lacks the software engineering capability to implement these systems in their vehicles, and it also explains why they can't fix them when they break.
I also have a 22 MDX, and it is my sixth Acura… and my last… I wont get into all of my issues, and haven’t had any as severe as yours, but ACURA has totally changed in the last few years and it shows in their quality and customer service… Once this lease is up, I am done with Acura.. Going to Lexus.
Not sure you could have made a smarter decision my friend. I'm currently on my 6th Lexus RX350 2019' model that I've owned since brand new! I've taken each one to 150k and have truly had zero issues whatsoever! Just regular consistent maintenance. They are bulletproof and have never ever let me down or left me stranded. Plus the dealership experience is best on planes earth! The Acura is more fun to drive, but peace of mind dealership experience and quiet comfort are worth more to me!
@@justme7092 a lot of little picky quality things with the 22MDX, but what sealed it for me was the customer experience and customer care after purchase from Acura… it’s horrible.. No acknowledgement or assistance whatsoever. They pretended like I didn’t exist… Done with Acura..
I hope Acura reaches out to you to rectify the issue after this video because this is a DEAL BREAKER for anyone looking to buy one. If they are in fact selling cars with this issue, it may well be a larger class action lawsuit. Good luck and looking forward to an update video. I'm commenting and liking so that this video will be recommended to more people and hopefully save many others from this same situation. 👍
My wife had bought same exact car Beautiful in every way except for these same issues Talked to lemon law attorney And obviously won due to the 4 times we took back to the dealer with in a month and was reimbursed all the payments plus down payment
Same problem happened with my 2023 Acura Tlx Type S after 3 weeks of owning the car the whole navigation system failed. They fixed the problem by changing the wireless circuit which they called it Fakra. So far it's working well. I owned two Acura car 2005 TL and 2007MDX they are both performing well with 150,,000miles on the TL and 125,000 miles on the MDX but this new Acura and Honda cars seems less reliable 😪
I hope they rectify your issue... It's really frustrating when as consumers we give them our hard earned money and in return they do not provide the proper service/product as promised. Shame on the Acura and dealership.
My 2019 RDX has had nothing but problems with the infotainment system since the day I drove off the lot. I got the same answer from Acura for the last 3 years too - they had no fix for it. Was considering getting a 2022 RDX because they said the issue was resolved and my lease is coming to an end. I’m happy I came across your video because it is evident they have not actually fixed anything. Will be looking elsewhere for my next vehicle!
100%! But I'll say this. I've owned 6 lexus vehicles from brand new and the ones made in Japan are the best followed by a close second in Canada! The ones made in Kentucky are NOTABLY CHEAPER MADE AND NOT NEARLY AS GOOD QUALITY IN ALL ASPECTS! THE ONLY LEXUS IVE EVER HAD RECALLS ON WERE TGE ONES MADE IN KENTUCKY. THE JAPANESE AND CANADIAN BUILT ONES WERE TROUBLE FREE! GO FIGURE. COME ON AMERICA, WHERE IS YOUR PRIDE AT!?
Very interesting and thanks for sharing! I had a somewhat similar issue when I purchased my 2018 Civic Type-R and experienced a faulty battery within the first week. Then I experienced issues with the RevMatch due to low oxygen boost, etc... Ultimately, Honda USA acknowledged having an issue with engine wire harness!! It took 2 weeks to get a new harness and I have been in the clear for over 40,000 miles. Honda/Acura motors have so much electronics it can get really complicated fast. Good Luck!
All cars have a lot of electronics brother. I hope your happy with that car? Bought a Supra last year. No problems, except for it's last gen BMW technology which is quirky? We do like it. Fun, fast and cramped!
This is really unfortunate... The MDX with super handling all wheel drive is hands down the best vehicle you can get. It seems that the YD2 & YD2.5 is where they peaked though. I was always suspicious of the newer gens when they started getting over complicated interiors. Acura used to have the perfect balance of prestige and simplicity. I will be keeping my 2012 until it turns to dust and rust.
We traded in our 2010 MDX @ 190k miles for the 2014. Really enjoying our 2014, but these newer 10 speed transmission one's with overly complicated software etc I'm hesitant about as well. But I can vouch for our 2014 SH-AWD MDX hasn't let us down or had any issues if you do decide on a newer model. 👍👍
Lexus RX350! You will not be disappointed! Ultra smooth and quiet and probably the most reliable vehicle on the market! Plus dealership experience is 2nd to none! This is my 6th with zero issues taking each one to 150k with regular maintenance! Good luck!
@@gabevillarreal96 Lexus/Toyotas are very good vehicles in general. We have decided to keep the leased SUV we have now. As it seems even used SUV are more expensive then what we would have to spend to buy out our leased Vehicle.
@@ROYALUSTER smart choice! Yes the used car market for the buyer is a nightmare. My vehicle is 6 years old and on tip top condition so I will not be in the market for a vehicle for a long long time. It's been a great 4 years with no car payment!
Bought ours Oct 21, it has been flawless ever since, just came back from a 10400 kms road trip from Toronto to Vancouver BC ( Canada ) very impressive to drive 👍
Great to hear. Yes they aren't all faulty, probably a small percentage. We would have liked to have bought one but we're kind of scared off of the brand now.
I had a 2007 ACURA TSX and it also had a battery draining issue much later down the road. I went to an online ACURA forum and one commented saying the BLUETOOTH module was the culprit and disconnecting that would solve the battery draining issue. I dunno if your situation would apply to that but it may be worth the dealership trying that. If that's the case, then with your car having a factory warranty, it would not cost you a thing. Hope this helps.
Small world, same thing was happening to my 2009 Acura MDX, would die after a couple days of not driving it, ended up taking the Bluetooth module out and never had a problem with it dying after. Hope the newer cars aren’t like that, but if they are, might reconsider buying a newer MDX
Same issue with my mother's 2007 RDX. A year ago her truck battery kept dieing. First we thought it was the alternator. Replaced. 3 weeks later battery died again. Took it to the dealer and brought a new battery. Went a whole month did it start doing it again. We would jump start the truck and everything would be smooth. As soon as it set over night the battery would be dead again. So I Google the issue and checked out a a few forums and found out that Bluetooth would drain the battery. Disconnected it and never had a problem
If y'all Knew what Acura put me and my little family through. Acura went as far as telling other Acura dealerships in my state, Lexus dealerships not to do business with me. Acura accused me of smoking in their 37 rentals they loaned me over an 8 year period. Because of their mess up and since I called them out on it they played tick for tag with me. when I don't even smoke in my own car. 🤦🏾♂️ God bless you
Not to rag on smokers, but the smoke is in smoker's clothes, unless they're careful. I can tell when they've been in the cars in the car lot back in the day - especially those who smoked in enclosed areas, like their own car, then come to test drive ours. Of course I've been accused of having a blood hound nose.
Sucks to hear! I’ve had my 22 MDX for about a year now and have had no issues. The car has been a dream. However it’s in the south with 0 snow, whole family drives Acura and has never had an issue
One reason many shoppers avoid a model's first year is that dependability remains unknown. There's always the chance a brand new vehicle could quickly turn into a giant headache down the road. Recalls are also not
From what I am hearing for feedback, this infotainment system was actually introduced in 2019 with the RDX update. I've been contacted by many 2019+ RDX owners who are having the same problem with no fix.
2022 Acura MDX A-Spec Leased in 2021 (Return date due on Feb 2024). I had the same type of issue twice. I was detailing my vehicle, which takes me about 2 hours to do. After a day or 2, the car battery would die. I would jump it and would be fine again. I never had any of my lights on but now it makes sense, its that pesky infotainment system. Can't thank you enough for this video.
that's beyond frustrating. I was very close to getting an rdx until I read about a bunch of limp mode problems owners were having, especially dangerous at highway speeds. ended up with an rx 350 which has been good so far. hope you get it all sorted out.
I have a 2009 mdx and drove me crazy with the same issue. After multiple trips to dealer Finally ended up taking the blue tooth box out and thrown in trash. All good since then.
You should sue them... I have owned a 2022 Advanced MDX for 2/3 months now and am experiencing mutlipe issues and still no resolution despite an ongoing warranty claim for 2/3 weeks now. My 2015 Highlander was a better ride (albeit the MDX looks better inside and out). Will never buy an Acura again unless they resolve my issues 100%
We are looking into legal options pending what happens this week. Very sorry to hear about yours - I can empathize with your pain! Also why we chose to return it, Acura didn't seem to have a clue what was wrong with ours.
@@stonecoldcustoms Real bummer. To purchase a brand new vehicle and have this issue. Not to mention anxiety issues 'is it going to start or left me stranded'. I had an 07 with the hfl battery drain issue. Current own 2016 hopefully noting goes wrong.. buy I feel your pain
I also purchased an Acura MDX 2022 (base model) in September 2021. If it wasn’t driven for 22 hours the vehicle would not start, battery dead. It went into the shop on November 2, 2021. Made a claim with Acura Corporate discussed buy back option, which was a joke. No one ever returned calls or gave updates and forget talking to your case manager. The known issue was probably mine bc they told me at the time I was the only one in the US with that problem. After waiting 4 months with service changing 3 parts (entire electronics in dash, brain under seat and something in door panel) and an Acura engineer even coming to evaluate it they still could not fix it. After sharing our frustration with our sales MANAGER he took care of us and we no longer own the 2022 MDX.
JD Power survey just out yesterday shows Acura bottom of pack. Anyone trying to spin this experience as one off is either on the payroll of Honda or in denial.
I agree. Acura has been on a downward spiral for the last 10 years or so and truly needs to get it together! QUALITY CONTROL HAS TO BE PRIORITY AND JOB NUMBER 1!!!!
How frustrating, cars are supposed to work in -50c let alone -10c! Videos like yours are so important to potential buyers, keep up your great communications, the bigger automotive community thanks you. I was looking at Lexus or Acura for a future purchase, I’m starting to realise Acura might be having some issues that weren’t around in the 90s Integras.
I owned a 2006 Acura RSX that was bulletproof, loved it. Definitely recommend doing some Acura infotainment research/googling before buying. In 28 years of vehicle ownership, I have never seen or experienced what I just did with this Acura purchase, in terms of manufacturer support. It's been unreal.
@@stonecoldcustoms Yes the new Acura quality is the pits. Just wait till they go to let GM built there cross platform EV. They are heading for the poop of the world.
Thank you for posting this. Sharing fact based information is your right and is public service. If they have issues with truth they can be more responsible with their manufacturing and quality process. I have had few Acuras and still drive one. I notice the overall quality seems to have fallen behind.
This has scared me away from a new 2023 RDX. Same infotainment systems, I think. Anyhow, I admire your integrity (and balls) for putting this up as a cautionary tale. I’d be so pissed if I were you also. What a terrible inconvenience. I hope things resolve the best they can for you. Best of luck.
Thanks. Yes it's the same infotainment system and I'm now hearing from a lot of 2023 owners with the same problems. Good choice. Honda/Acura originally wanted me to take this and all my social media posts down, in exchange for $1,200. I had agreed but then they sent me a ridiculously written, completely illegal non-disclosure agreement. (I work in contracting!) I asked to edit it to make it reasonable or at least legal but they refused and wouldn't even let me talk to their 'lawyers' that wrote it. So we walked away without the $1,200 and the video stayed up!
@@stonecoldcustoms that’s one heck of a story. SMH. What an insulting and disrespectful offer to reconcile this problem. It’s also, IMHO, bad business practice for their bottom line, which is all they care about anyway. They could have bought the car back in-full, offered a sincere apology and this would have all went away- and, I imagine without any “hard feelings” about the car failure, and maybe just disappointment on your end instead. Now, this has scared away many potential buyers costing them a lot more than if they just took responsibility. Not to diminish your story, but this kind of nonsense is happening a lot these days with so many manufacturers. I have a feeling the dispassionate arrogance has something to do with the still “sellers market” raging right now. They just don’t feel like they need to do anything. The ship carrying “integrity and ethics” has sailed long ago, I think.
@@cpg8000 Exactly the whole thing has been very surprising to me from a business perspective. I'd say it's a clear case of being too large of a company and not having good people making good decisions in their customer relations department. Bottom line is that Honda/Acura's support was WAY, WAY below the standard that I've received from other manufacturers - which was shocking since Acura is supposed to be a 'luxury' brand where they do better than that. And a huge part of their marketing is based on the perception of "Honda quality". That may have been true 20 years ago but it's a joke now. One of the lines in the NDA actually said that if Honda/Acura did anything illegal in our dealings, that the NDA would remain legal - LMAO - "legality" is one of the key requirements of a contract to remain valid and they were trying to get me to waive "legality".. Unbelievable. I could go on and on. Yes I'm pretty sure that this video has cost them at least 30-50 sales based on how many people I have spoken to. Not to mention my posts on MDXers.org detailing the problem. I was more than willing to take it all down in exchange for the measly $1,200 that I lost on the purchase and return, that the dealer refused to compensate us for. I did not ask for a single penny of compensation.
I own a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Coupe since brand new and Honda replaced my battery and starter early on under warranty and since then I've had zero issues. This is 100% unacceptable for HONDA/ACURA! THEY HAVE TO BE BETTER WITH THEIR QUALITY CONTROL AND MANUFACTURING/ENGINEERING PROCESSES BEFORE BRINGING SAID MODELS TO MARKET! Honda is known WORLDWIDE as a quality highly durable and extremely reliable company with EVERYTHING THEY MAKE AND THEIR LUXURY LINE SHOULD BE NO EXCEPTION! Get it right Honda and put the faith and trust back into your LOYAL CUSTOMERS BY GETTING BACK TO WHAT GOT YOU YOUR AWESOME REPUTATION OVER THE LAST 60 YEARS PLUS!!! BACK TO BASICS AND GET THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF MR. HONDA BACK AT THE FOREFRONT OF WHAT YOU DO!!! ASAP!!!! OR YOU WILL START TO SLOWLY LOSE US!😡
They already have my next car will be a Toyota. Don’t get me wrong Toyota have their problems too but Acura have really want down hill to me since 2006.
Ever since Honda changed the engine design with direct injection motors, they have been having multiple issues. I have a 2018 crv touring and luckily no issues in winter. BUT I noticed when I did the recall for the heater issue, that's when I started having heating issues where no hot air even after 10min of driving. Now, I live in Toronto so it's not always extremely cold. My aunt had a 2017 crv and had the battery drain issues and so she traded hers in for a rav4. Been wanting to upgrade to an mdx or wait for new redesign pilot but I'm leaning towards toyota sequoia. BUT now the new tundra has wastegate issues which the sequoia will have the same setup... Don't know now, these new vehicles with the technology hasn't been the greatest. Old school is best!
I wish that I had come across your post earlier. It might just might have changed my decision. Three weeks ago, we just purchased a 2023 MDX Advance to replace my wife’s Lexus RX330 that my son totaled. So far everything works but now doubting the quality of materials used and future reliability. The windshield developed a 4” crack on the inside glass (no damage on the outside) right above the infotainment screen on the 3rd week of ownership. This is our first Acura and now not that thrilled after watching your video. Never experienced this in the 18 years that we had the Lexus. I hope the issue has been resolved. So far everything works as it should but might be too early to tell. Thanks for posting.
Best of luck with it; I've definitely heard from lots of happy owners through this, so I do believe the lemons are a small percentage. But also would put Lexus way above Acura in terms of quality. it's too bad Lexus doesn't make a more modern, slightly larger midsize SUV. My wife tried the new RX350 but didn't like it. We ended up getting a 2022 VW Atlas; not as luxurious but best for kids and no problems in 30,000 miles so far.
@@88hemoglobin I agree, but - the RX was the first vehicle I told my wife to look at - but she absolutely hated it, lol.. Plus they're a bit too small for us.
Hey Ming, how's the suspension on the qx 60? I went with a 2021 Enclave Avenir with adaptive suspension, as I like a cushy ride; even though the qx 60 was my second choice, even though it lacks adaptive suspension.
Past owner of a 2007 MDX that had the same battery drainage issue and the main culprit was the Bluetooth module. Once I took it out never had that prob again. Can’t believe 15 years later Acura has not solved this issue yet.
Had the same bluetooth issue with the 06 TL. It was replaced under warranty and is still alive and well. Car has 191k miles. Acura batteries are garbage though.
Whoa..that is crazy. Wait so they KNOW that there is a known issue and yet they won't fix it??? Hell no. About 8-9 years ago I started having issues with my 2001 Acura CL type S (yes she is and oldie) and I started having issues with my car, it would stutter and act like it wouldn't go. So the dealer told me it was my transmission (at the time only had about 65K miles on the car) and when I researched to see if there were known tranny issues there were...my model along with a handful of others had a transmission recall...my transmission wasn't replaced and when I told the dealer they were trying to give me the run around and told me it would cost $8K to replace it... I ended up finding the telephone number to Acura Corporate U.S and within 2-3 days the dealer called me and told me I had to only owed $250 for labor and my car was then fixed. I'm not sure if Canada has Acura Corporate, but I would HIGHLY recommend speaking with someone higher up than at the dealership.
Honda (Acura) issues 10-20 “Tech Bulletins” monthly that are not released to the public. These are issued to mechanics so they know what to look for if the public are complaining about something - or if it’s made up… by time a vehicle reaches EOL there may be 10,000 TB’s issued. Dealers also don’t have to honors them unless under warranty
Im soo grateful to see this because I was in the market for an acura mdx tech package and saw this video doing my research. I couldnt believe this was an issue and they refused to do a recall or resolve. Shameful behavior from them as a company. I wont be buying any of their iterations moving forward. Please keep this up and lets keep others warned
EXACT same issue with my 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec. I have had multiple issues with this vehicle and has been in the shop 15 times in 3 years. People, please do yourself a favor and stay clear of RDX and MDX. BTW, look up how Acura got sued and just settled on issues regarding the infotainment system.
Surprisingly I had not seen that class action lawsuit and settlement till you mentioned it.. Ties in with all the 2019+ RDX feedback I've been getting from owners. Sorry to hear of your experience. In 28 years of vehicle ownership, this was my first experience being told "known issue, no fix". Unreal.
Thankfully, I haven't had this issue, but the build quality on my 2020 RDX is so subpar, it annoys me that I spent so much money on such an inferior product. I'll never waste money on an Acura again.
@@CU08 On our MDX, the hood, front fenders and headlights were a bit crooked so the body line gaps were off from one side to the other. And I didn't see any way of adjusting it without actually loosening the panels. Minor issue - but extremely frustrating in what is supposed to be a luxury brand. Was expecting our VW Atlas to be the same, thinking it's just 'the way it is' nowadays, but nope, its body lines/gaps are all absolutely perfect.
I don’t know where you live but in the United States they have a lemon law where if the dealer can’t fix the same problem after three attempts they have to give you another new car or your money back.
Seriously, Acura Canada says that this is a known problem, with NO fix, yet, they're selling this model to customers with a known defect, the fact your dealer has basically given you the runaround, tells me everything I need to know, good luck
2022 MDX aspec- had my screen go out like that multiple times so far. Thankfully no battery drain issues yet. Something is definitely not right with the entertainment. The screen freezes up frequently
This is a known issue and a tech bulletin has been issued. The screen can freeze and the main fuse can be pulled or the vehicle can be reset by pulling the negative cable and grounding it out. Unfortunately Acura does not have an update for this yet. It was just corrected for Pilots, Passport and Odyssey’s so there is hope
Wow!! Thanks!!!! Just crashed my 2011 MDX and was going to replace it with the new one but I’m in Michigan where it definitely gets cold! I don’t need this type of problem! Back to the drawing board
This might’ve been an issue with Acura from as far back as the 90s. I had a 1997 RL that used to just cut off while driving. It even happened on the highway. Luckily I felt it in time to move over on the shoulder. No mechanic could figure it out. I eventually sold it. Sold it for way less than I bought it for, I wanted to get rid of it. I told the new owners. I never heard back from them.
This is unfortunate, I'm sorry to all the owners who had to deal with this. After 3 years with my first MDX, I lucked out and had no issues with my A-spec model, recently upgraded to to an Advance for less than I started with my A-spec lease, I'll keep an eye out for this stuff, hopefully these issues are ironed out completely, as I love how this thing drives.
That's an awful experience. We have a 22 MDX Tech SH-AWD, acquired nearly a year ago having taken advantage of this crazy used car market and trading in our recently leased 20 MDX Tech SH-AWD. While this is a far nicer MDX than the previous ones we've had (09 base, 12 Tech, 15 Tech SH-AWD, 17 Tech SH-AWD and the forementioned 20 Tech SH-AWD), we've defnitely experienced more 'quirks' with this one than all the others. Specifically, I've had to add coolant twice in the past
I was reading your response here and I noticed you said you’ve had to add coolant twice in the past year, this is a closed system so either one of two things are going on either you’ve got a leak somewhere or you could have a slow head gasket leak, which is serious because it’s only gonna get worse and you don’t want to find out after the car is out of warranty .There’s a guy on TH-cam his channel is called The Car Care Nut, he has a video called how to check for a bad head gasket on Toyota or Lexus engines but this would apply for any engine because it checks for combustion gases in the radiator fluid. Here’s a link to the video it starts at 3:30 sec into video th-cam.com/video/j9_LKFUDyig/w-d-xo.html any good mechanic should be able to do this test it takes about two minutes. In this guy’s vehicle he had a small leak where the antifreeze was leaking past the head gasket, but this Toyota had 291,000 miles on it, so he advised the owner that it’s not worth the money to put into the vehicle.
Same issue with my TLX 2015. Dealership and Acura doesn’t know what to do. Unfortunately my problems started to happen two years into ownership and only worsen and became a daily problem 5 years later. It does not like to start in the cold weather. it not a battery. Once weather warms up it starts. But sometimes when when it warm it starts but you can not shift pass first gear. If you reset the transmission then it works fine or turn off and turn on the car once oil temps warm up then it is fine.
That's brutal. No matter what it is it's Certainly unacceptable in a 2 year old car that's still under warranty. That was one of our biggest fears, being stuck with the dead car. Thought we'd be able to return it for a refund given that it broke down the same day we brought it home, but we're still fighting with the dealer to get our trade value back.
I have a 2015 TLX Advance and it wasn't starting in cold weather. Putting HEET Gas-Line Antifreeze and Water Remover solved the issue for me. Not sure if it's the same issue for you though but it's $1.68 on Amazon.
I am in talks with a dealer to purchase an MDX now. I prayed about the situation in asking God if it was the right move-I now have my answer. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s a blessing that you and your wife were able to return the vehicle and receive your refund.
To cap it off, we returned it for a $1,200 loss from our trade in tax savings, which the dealer refused to reimburse. While negotiating with Acura, they agreed to pay the $1,200, in exchange for me taking this video down. Then, they sent us a ridiculously illegal non-disclosure agreement that make us infinitely liable to Acura for damages. They refused to edit it to make it legal, so we refused to sign it, and they didn't give us our $1,200 as promised. I'll never buy another Honda/Acura product as long as I live. Best of luck with your decision! Despite the market being flooded with CUVs/SUVs, there really aren't a lot of good options at this size and price point.
@@ryanb8736 we ended up buying a 2022 VW Atlas R-Line. It's been fine, great vehicle for kids due to its large size. Have had a few annoying sensor issues and an injector issue that we've had to wait for months for parts for. Multiple dealer visits for each issue, but not show stoppers 35,000 miles on it now. Looking at buying a Cadillac next. Would prefer a Toyota or Lexus but my wife hates them, too old, too boring.
Based on the feedback I'm getting, this issue actually started in 2019 with the RDX's redesign.. Lots of 2019+ RDX owners contacting me now saying they have the same problem and Acura can't/won't fix it.
@@stonecoldcustoms Yea I had the issue with my 2019 RDX I think it was a Wiring harness or something like that. Once replaced I didnt have the issue anymore. I ordered an MDX myself and a lil nervous considering everything Ive been hearing
Agreed. I bought a new Lexus RX FSport in 2016 when it was redesigned. Had suspension issues. In 2017 I traded it in. I bought a new BMW 5 series also redesigned. Had a bad struts. 2 weeks of owning it. Now I have a 2021 TLX ASPEC. puddle lights go in and out. And constant creaking from the steering column. All these cars first year of a redesign. I don’t learn my lesson. Lol

i recently sold my 2017 hyundai that apparently. lots of people say it isnt a good car. well i put about 130k km on it with out an issue . nothing. tires, brakes, oil, and a small top up of coolant. after 5 years she still drove smooth, and always, always started without hesitation. next car when i get back to Canuckistan will more likely be a hyundai. dont need a car that wont start.
Am an owner of the 2007 RDX, with great satisfaction after 15 years of ownership. Am contemplating on getting a new car to replace this aging but faithful vehicle. So sorry to hear that the MDX keeps failing. Kinda not surprised - a recent JD Powers VDS shows Acura at the lowest rung of the brands. I work in automotive related roles, and I remember hearing from a major ICT supplier that Honda had asked them to come and help them with IT issues (that was back 4~5 years ago). Honda is having difficulties in the IT department, with added complexities daily with added IT features, more so b/c a vast majority of competent SW/HW engineers go to (where else) Apples and MS of the world. Your sharing of this will likely make me choose something other than another Acura. Sad.

I understand your pain. I have a 2019 TLX, my screen freezes after 15min whenever my iPod is plugged up. I've took my car to Acura about the problem 5 times, I was told there is no fix after multiple updates and they even switched the tuner. I've talked to Acura in California and pretty much I've been told theres nothing that can be done. It's frustrating because I can't even go out of town with my car unless I plan on pulling over multiple times to restart the car so my navigation screen doesn't freeze up.
Just to try and help it’s a tier I supplier issue. Programming takes time do to quick roll outs of Safety updates of Third party devices. Apple may update 3-4 times in a year compared to 1 time for Honda unfortunately and the roll out usually is for multiple platforms even Acura division to Honda
Ahh that sucks sounds like you got a bad egg. I’ve owned 5 Acura and 4 have been excellent with absolutely no issues only one started having issues at 50k+ miles and that was all due to is being a manual. I still like Acura and would go back to them I’d say. Sucks you just got a bad one. Hopefully they buy it back from you. I loved both MDX’s I owned.
I've always loved my Honda and had planned on getting into an Acura MDX on my next purchase, but this has really given me pause. I think I'll be taking a little while longer to purchase and look at other brands. I'm sorry this is happening to you, but thank you for sharing your experience.

I have a 2014 Acura MDX SH-AWD. I bought it because I've been a Honda enthusiast since ealry 90's. One word: Stay away! Earlier version of Acura were made in Japan. They were terrific! But the ones that were made after 2010's are all made in Canada and the built quality is awful to say the least. Only Lexus (not all) and Mazda, Subaru are mostly made from Japan. Those vehicles have outstanding built qualities and will last long. But now these days, Honda and Toyota are not the same quality as before. Since most of them.are built in the States, Canada, the quality really took a big dive down.
Thanks for posting this. All i see online is how great this car is and at most how people don’t like some minor designs elements. Not that many talk about important issues like this. Hopefully this is just one of the few defected cars they have and they would fix the car or exchange a new one for you.
I've been considering the new MDX to replace my 2018 X5. My previous experience with Honda was a brand new 2013 Honda Crosstour which had multiple issues. The issues were all fixable, but dealing with the arrogance of Honda was a nightmare. They took the same dismissive approach with me as they have with you. I had heard there were some shakeups in Honda senior management a few years ago, so I was hoping their corporate culture had changed for the better...but evidently it has not. I'm glad you posted your experience as it reminds me to steer clear of Honda. Such a shame. Thanks!
I was trying to purchase a Technology pack MDX, my local dealers in California demanding a markup price of Five Thousand above the MSRP. Thanks for the video, I am decided to not purchase the MDX now.
If a battery goes dead in very cold weather, It needs to be charged up before all the cells freeze. Important to always have a battery charger at the ready in very cold weather, Had my 2022 MDX Elite for seven Months, It's been -35c, It's runs perfect, There aren't many bad luck cases like this.
A lot more than you think. I have been inundated with feedback from MDX and 2019+ RDX owners since posting this. Look into the class action lawsuit that was just settled. I've been driving in Canadian winters for 28 years. Have never needed to "have a battery charger at the ready" and you shouldn't need to with a brand new vehicle.
Sadly every brand has some issues like this. Everything is so complex now days they miss things during testing of new vehicles or part swapped out in production later with all the equipment shortages. So later when something doe comes up they do damage control while working on a fix. Just keep pressure on them.
I have two 2022 Acura MDX A-Specs (Black and White) and I haven't had a single issue. I'm so sorry for your issue. I hope they will swap your vehicle for another one.
What turns me off is the Acura response to the customer. Well screw them, I would never buy from them again. Honda has bad record in recent years, remember oil dilution with their CRV. I hear bad stuff about a lot of manufacturers….I have no clue who treats their customers right. I’ve heard from friends who have Lexus and they seem to be happy with the company.
yeap i had problem with my 2014 honda pilot. the water leaked into the fender weld or under the right fender. i got a fish pool on the right front passenger side and that was how much water i had. it took them more then 4 times to fix it right. i am done with Honda. my parents we all have 3 honda. they lost us as customers.
Just bought a 2023 Acura MDX Type S. Same exact issue as this. It’s thanksgiving today so I will take it in tomorrow. No screen access and low battery when starting this morning. I bought this car brand new less than a month ago.
Oh man, how infuriating, sorry to hear. Not surprised to hear this problem persists in 2023 though - Honda/Acura doing Honda/Acura things. It started in 2019 and they still haven't fixed it going on 5 years now.
I just bought 2022 Acura MDX Type S Advance package, on the 5th day of driving the car , on my way to work the car all of a sudden completely died out, disabled, no power whatsoever. Made me missed my shift at work because the car had to be towed to the nearest acura dealer in the city, since it happened around 7 pm on a Saturday night , the dealership was already closed and will remain closed until Monday morning. I am very anxious to know what the dealer will tell me tomorrow when service opens up.
A coworker says her daughter ordered this or the other Acura crossover and it has electrical issues as well and it's the worst car they ever owned. And then my friends last gen Honda Civics had other issues Luke paint bubbling, a rattle despite not having high milage or age and the cloth seats are really worn. I can't belive Honda is trying to throw their reputation down the drain. It takes decades to build it and 5 seconds to end it
Thank you for posting this. I was close to buying a 2022 MDX. Yea, Honda also has not fixed issues for 2016-2020 Civics AC compressor that works with the AC condenser, both have problems and only the AC condenser was given an extended warranty. I've gotten different responses from different Honda dealers. They'll do diagnostics and then if they can't come to a conclusion, they'll say we need a further diagnostics to take out the dash board that will cost $1,200, but that doesn't guarantee that we'll fix the A/C leaking. There's a class action lawsuit going on I believe. I'm moving to Toyota.
Thank you for posting this factual account of your experience! It has me rethinking my order that I just placed for an MDX 2 weeks ago. Thankfully my deposit is fully refundable!
This could be an isolated case. Several friends of mine are thoroughly enjoying their 19' 20' 21' and 22' MDX's with zero issues. But I get not wanting to roll the dice with such a big purchase. My experience with Lexus has been stellar. 7 Vehicles brand new to 150k with zero issues. Peace of mind is priceless.
@@gabevillarreal96 this is not an isolated issue as this is happening to a 2019 Acura RDX! I’ve had so many issues from brakes to random noise coming from the dashboard to the outside seals of the panoramic sunroof melting and the whole sunroof having to be replaced. I am NEVER buying an Acura product again.
As gorgeous as the new generation MDX is, a typical rule of thumb is stay away from first year production of a new generation until all the kinks are sorted out with updates. Especially when it comes to modern cars that utilize unprecedented amount of electronics and computers to control various systems.
Except it's not a first year issue. This infotainment system debuted in the 2019 RDX and they have the same issue, plus other issues, with no fix. Check out the class action lawsuit that Acura just settled for the RDX. I suspect a new class action is coming for 2021+ RDX and 2022+ MDX.
This is a know issue with some of the cars. Same issue with my 2018 and 2022 Range Rover velar and sports. When it is -15 outside and over night screen will stop working some time it will show up after warm up some time it will not . Didn’t have that issue with my 2022 MDX Aspec. So must be same shipments having the issue
I’m actually in the process of shopping for a new vehicle for my growing family to replace our Lexus NX and the new MDX was at the top of the list. Unfortunate to hear about your experience and it definitely makes me reconsider leaving the Lexus/Toyota brand for Honda/Acura. Thanks for posting and please keep sharing your story.
I've heard from a few people with 2023s with the same problem - so Honda/Acura still haven't fixed it after 5 years. It may only be a problem in a small percentage of them, but still a risk. In addition to this and other electronics issues, the other complaint I've heard consistently is brake problems, poor wear, noise, premature wear, etc.
Please do not give in to Acura's request to take down this video. Taking it down would be the wrong thing to do. It is purely factual. Deleting facts from history harms everyone.
It's staying up for now. Just posted an update to the video description.

Acura just lost 89k customers
All 2023 have a high pitch tone that Acura says is normal. This is what the dealer said when I took it in. Beware my loaner another 2023 with more mileage had the high pitch tone louder than mine. Opened a case with Acura. No one knows what causes the annoying high tone pitch sound. Sounds like a bearing or something too tight. Buyers beware !! Poor dealership service and responses.

Acura used to be great back when they used to be made in Japan.
Lexus is vastly superior these days.
Good Luck!

My 2007 MDX has kept running well near 300K miles with no major issue. The blue tooth was removed too for draining the battery.
my 2008 acura tl had the same issue. took the bluetooth out and problem solve.
I so agree! Acura is absolute garbage and nothing like they were in the 90’s when they were bulletproof.

Looks like I got mine two weeks before you did. Let's all hope for the best. So far so good!!
Should've bought a Lexus. I sold my RDX and got a '22 RX over the MDX. Lexus quality and reliability cannot be beat
@@88hemoglobin I agree, but - the RX was the first vehicle I told my wife to look at - but she absolutely hated it, lol.. Plus they're a bit too small for us.

@@rhar1044 the suspension on Qx60 is a bit firm. You will definitely feel the small bump on the road when drive through.
What's the phone number to the Acura corporate u.s ?
Unreal.
Thanks for letting me know that.
Lexus RX350! Will never let you down!
I never heard back from them.
please stop....yours was 20 yrs old..lmao
I hope the new owner is still alive, but you haven't heard back from them. hrmmm
In this guy’s vehicle he had a small leak where the antifreeze was leaking past the head gasket, but this Toyota had 291,000 miles on it, so he advised the owner that it’s not worth the money to put into the vehicle.
yeah acuras are not reliable like Genesis and Lexus.
We ordered our 2023 a-spec two weeks ago.Been having real good luck with our 2014 mdx also. Honda and Toyota. Two of the best!!!

What was the issue?
I was told loose battery terminal
Did it happen again since then?
Return the vehicle and make sure you get EVERY PENNY YOU PAID BACK.
I just crossed them off my list of new vehicles. I really did like the MDX type S.
@@thethinkingstone9248 And that's ACURA'S FAULT SOLELY!!!!
@@gabevillarreal96 yes! looking at getting a Lexus
Saved me from buying this SUV. Thank you.
The Lexus TX is out!
