The tooling was made in 2012 and a few parts look worn, but overall it is a good value kit of an iconic aircraft and suitable for all levels of experience.

When I was in primary school, the first Airfix kit I built was a Mustang. It cost 25 cents.
I haven't built an aircraft kit for more than 40 years. After watching your video I went out and purchased this kit. It cost me $17. It is a much better kit. Thanks for the inspiration.

A tip for the propeller yellow tip use a Posca paint marker works great.

Another great little project, I actually have a preference for 1/48th scale, but enjoy any type of aircraft building/modelling, take care and keep safe, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.

Yes, I think it is, but it was also enjoyable for a slightly more seasoned modeller like me. It is surprising how quickly you'll get bitten by the bug! I try to do a mix of skill 1 or 2 kits as well as the occasional bigger one as they all give me pleasure! Cheers, Gary

That was really good. I really enjoyed your video; it's inspired me to get a move on with my 1/72 Mustang kits. I am interested to know how you applied the metallic paint. I don't own an airbrush so I find the idea of painting metallic a wee bit intimidating. Cheers, Jim
You can brush paint some metallics quite successfully. I have used Vallejo Model Air aluminium with a brush, I use quite a broad one for the larger areas and it covers well and smoothly.
This kit I have as well I haven't build it yet but notice the flash on the part like the air scoop had some flash joy stock and antena was bad as well on the kit
Sometimes it is pot luck at which stage of a pressing run your kit comes from. Perhaps also creating better detail means there is more likelihood of mould errors down the road? Something for a materials engineer to answer I suspect! Let me know how you get on with it.
Hi Gary. This is my next project, the Mustang P51.
Just wondering, my previous kits, after painted and varnished are starting to show cracking on 6he paint, like woodwork when the sun gets to it, but they are no where near light and have only been made a few months:(. Any top tips, otherwise they don't look like they will last the test of time (:

I'm not sure Graham. My first thought is maybe using paint or varnish a bit too thickly, or not waiting for the paint to fully dry before varnishing. Maybe hop over to my Facebook page at Gary's Friends' Stuff and ask there because there are loads of people who can help there!

I once built a bigger air fix version of this aircraft
A not so good model far way from the new Mosquito (or Vulcan). However, this models are the ones that at the end help us learn new techniques and get habilities to finish with a very acceptable looking plane like in this case.
А мне в такой коробке попался брак!!Хвостовой киль на обоих половинках фюзеляжа наполовину был недолит...кошмар!Когда производство ,айрфикса, было в Англии ...такого безобразия невидел!А вот в Индии куда перенесли производство ,айрфикс, брак встречался на нескольких моделях..видимо англичане плохо контролируют индусов...это печально.😢😮
Я должен согласиться, контроль качества является проблемой!
