- Today we are meeting Jersey. She has been on the road for 6 years! She is driving a Hummer that pulls a trailer! Jersey has a unique tin roof interior roof. She has made the entire trailer feel comfortable and cozy. She has done a phenomenal job making her build out a warm living space! Jersey says you don't have to spend a lot of money to make it feel and look homey!

I’m 64 and I have towed when I was younger and not looking forward to doing it again but after 5 years in a standard height cargo van…let’s just say I’m over it. I have Copd and the thought of hooking and unhooking along with setup is holding me back. I don’t know, maybe it’s time I bought a 5th wheel and just park it. 🤷🏼♂️
I too have been going back and forth with the same question. I just saw a trailer that is in my budget, so should I or no? I’ll keep thinking on it. Good luck to you!

@@Tammy121111 I am 67 single female and hook up and tow my 23 ft trvl trlr. I do need more practice in backing into a sps though. Past yr developed prob in one knee, so I bought a padded gardner's cushion to help with hooking up.
She has teenage grandchildren? Wow she looks very young! Nice trailer, love all the little touches.

I did my build over the last year.
I bought things when they went on sale.. but pretty much complete.

Really nice! And she is my age, based on the age of her oldest, yet she looks 20 years younger than I. Really glad her kids are behind her on this, too. It’s not always the case. Thanks Bob for showing us something new AND for the interview! I am truly impressed

I love it. This is what I want to do instead of refurbishing an old travel trailer as a tiny home to tow 😊
Get 4 or 6 blue ice packs and turn your refrigerator to freeze then rotate daily 2 or 3 between the freezer and a cooler to use as a refrigerator (depending on the size of the cooler) I've been doing this for 4 years now and it's working great !

I feel for her,. I have two daughters and no place to call home. Right now I'm taking care of my mom, but it's not for ever, at some point in the near future I too will be homeless. This shows me that I too can live in a cargo trailer. Thank you for sharing

I paid off my mortgage, and am now looking at small cargo trailers. I agree with Bob that they are better made than RVs. They are homier, too, with straight walls and higher ceilings.
I started thinking about it as a bugout bag I could sleep in after we were evacuated before a forest fire. Sleeping in a local school gym was a blessing and a nightmare wrapped in a single package.
I love your set up! People rent storage rooms to store boat loads of 'materialist' junk. I consider myself a minimalist in progress...

This trailer build is so homey and delightful, it is the very epitome of "home on wheels"! Maybe HOWA could use it as a logo someway, or as an ambassador. I don't know, but it just seems perfect.

First, GREAT intro!! Seriously! Second, YES Jersey, you have inspired and encouraged me. Unlike you, I have never camped (other than once in a tent in a monsoon with 2 youngsters in 1981, never went again). I ordered a Casita, picking it up, Lord willing, in September 2022. My tow vehicle is a Ram 1500 4x4, Hemi. Can’t have too much truck. As September approaches, I hope my apprehension turns to excitement. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
I hope your experiences have been good ones! Hope you’ve been able to talk to experienced campers for tips and tricks to make camping fun and practical for you! I’ve camped in variety of units, from as small as a 15’ Hi-Lo trailer (hard sides, crank up top) in the sixties to a 27’ Winnebago in the 90s, and 30’ Mallard in the late 90s/early 2000. All have pluses and minuses, all will require maintenance and repair, including outside the box, jury rigged, homemade solutions. The challenges and fun of mobile living is adapt and conquer. I will pick up my retirement dream home, Outdoors RV, Mountain Series, GP F28RKS, next week! Cannot wait!……Hope to see you on the road!!
Jan Moline wow you’re a hundred thousand steps ahead of me! My Casita won’t be ready till September 15, 2022. I’ve considered practice camping in the Gazelle gazebo I purchased to use with the Casita, but I have no idea how to even start. Your new rv sounds awesome! Next fall, if you see an old lady fumbling around in a Casita looking totally confused, stop and say hi, that will be me. 🤣
@@michellegarry1872 totally will!!! Haha. I spent 5 years researching and working with the financial gurus through my employer's retirement system. I'll be leaving the end of this week to get my rig. So if you see a white haired old lady way back in the "sticks" with a 5th wheel, stop by for a cuppa (my Mum was from Ireland, that's something they say there!! Lol Tea and socializing can't be separated!! Though for me it's coffee)!!! Can't wait to make friends in the road!

Wonderful set up. Proof that so many nomads are creative and innovative, living comfortably on very little. Proof that we can reuse and recycle to build comfortable living spaces. Also, kudos to her for her giving back to the community in her service to the dying.

I use my port-a-pot with a loaf and jug soda cup with a 7x9" wax coated bakers bag in the cup...works perfect, no oder and I have a small incinerator (amazon)...I keep 3 " of sand in the bottom and use shavings or wood chips or whatever burnable in it and a squirt of lighter fluid and wala...no muss no fuss...dump ashes once a mo.
That’s what I have in Baja! Bought the land in the middle of nowhere, included a 30’ trailer, solar equipment etc, ( no electricity) since I’m Mexican by birth I have dual citizenship and I can own land in Mexico, my property taxes are $60 a year! Overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Compare that to what I pay in property taxes in California, ha! I’m selling my place in the mountains of California and I’m buying a van to travel for 4/5 months when the heat in Baja gets unbearable, I won’t be a full time van dueler but part time. So I’m kind of in between what you guys do but that’s what works for me and gives me all the freedom I need to move around in a van camping and coming back to a great home base where I have tons of privacy and solitude (which I like) with breathtaking views and minimal expense to maintain. Thanks for all your wonderful videos, you have no idea how much they’ve helped me to fine tune my dreams now that I’m retired.

What a nice woman’s home and her simple life I am working on my daughter to learn about less is more. I have moved for years and now I have a studio apt in a retirement center in payson, AZ and the weather is twenty degrees less than Phoenix. I like it here with the many trees in town. It is 5,000 ft high. I like it now that I have all my camp gear still hoping to at lease go camping but fire danger are everywhere. I hope you can come here there is room on the property for you to for your home. I,m going to Che k out the powers to be about this. I,m so glad you shared your home with bob, he is a grand person, do you like to use an iPad or computer? I enjoy the iPad because I can FaceTime with daughter in Redmond,OR. And florida. Take care.
