In this video I’ll be going over the process to delete your Ram 1500 eco diesel. The truck in this video is a 2015 but all eco diesels should be similar.

can you do a tune without doing the delete pipes or recommended you do them at the same time?
If you unscrew all of the sensors from the exhaust first then you can drop the canisters and easily access the all of the wired connections. I didn't need to cut any wires.

@@wenselsvasquez4024 sft tuning. No need to send computer in. They have handheld touchscreen tuners. Just Google "SFT Tuning" and it will come up. They are who I used and everything went flawlessly.

Hello....HD Diesel Supply now offers a tune which doesn't involve having to remove the ECM, its simply a matter of downloading their tune from the hand held device, so much easier for those choosing to simply have the EGR electronically shut off, removal not reqired
Are you serious? No EGR removal? That's great. Does it apply to newer models? I have a 2022 Ecodiesel

@@jasonborden2661 I actually haven’t gone through with the full delete.. my truck seems fine and I have yet to run into anyone who has had problems… I think these guys with major problems are simply beating the crap out of their trucks by towing more than they should etc… maybe they don’t even follow the service schedule too.. I won’t dish out $3600 for this delete option until I sense problems.. if my motor blows up, I will swap it out for a Hemi

Excellent video. Thanks for the info! Only thing I would do extra would be to add a little di-electric grease and some shrink or tape over the hanging connectors to keep preserved and clean.
What would be fantastic is to show all performance differences between the before and after. Is the engine performing better afterwards? MPG, torque?

Very informative video, thanks for sharing! From what everyone says this is a very difficult delete with most removing the passenger front wheel and inner fender well on both stage 1 and 2 deletes to gain access.

yes, it's abject misery. as is wasting your life in an emissions doomed underperforming truck. I don't know how anyone would do it without removing all the passenger side obstructions and wheel.
We dont remove the wheel, or jack it up or anything. After you get it done, you're like wow this was simple.

You can tune these with HPTuners now and most companies now offer OBD flash devices to tune them.
I just bought my first truck which is a 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel Laramie 4x4 crew cab. Not bad for a owner/operator at 17. I hate the way the truck almost “starves” for power. Thinking of going with the sft tune.
@@jacoblewis2863 SFT will wake the truck up thats for sure. There are several good tune options out there for these depending on your budget and what you are looking for. Keep an eye out for black friday deals. SFT does one every year. If you message me i'll send you a code for a discount. Don't think it will work with a black friday sale but it may.

@@freddysnow did you install program first? then exhaust? and also if you remove the negative cable, will it erase sft tune? i'm in Miami and will be deleting with sft soon.
installed flopro pipes and deleted the DEF. Looking forward to your EGR delete from them next. I used a Powergate2 system to program my ECM through the OBD with one of three tunes (stock w/o DEF, +30HP, +60HP) from a place here in Canada. I'd say the name but their customer service sucks.

I see you left the EGR in place. I am doing the same. What happens with the EGR up pipe from the exhaust up to the EGR? Does that get left open or did you have a block plate with your exhaust?

Did you remove the sensor that has a green tag on it. I think it’s for the exhaust sensor?

time to trash that muffler as well.
Why does it look like you cut 02 sensors? And you should cap off each wire you cut, the ends of each wire could be touching inside the sheathing and cause problems.
My 2014 ram ecodiesel just had a cel for p24ae which I've been told is the diesel particulate sensor. If I delete my ecodiesel do I have to worry about the sensor anymore? thanks!
Nope you don’t have to worry about any of the dpf sensors or egr sensors. If you plan on deleting it make sure you know the laws in your area first about driving a deleted truck on the roads!
Would only making the exhaust mod make any noticeable difference in Horsepower or fuel mileage?

what about the O2, exhaust gas temp and Nox sensors? Do we not need to reconnect them?

I don’t know the specific wire colours, but if you watch the whole video I do explain which wires need to be unplugged to remove the DPF

Amazing video do you have any tips on getting the v band clamp off it wouldn’t come off even though I took the nut right off
You have to use a pry bar or a flat head screwdriver and try to pry the clamp off of the exhaust pipe. Or push the pry bar against the clamp where it touches the exhaust and hit the bar with a hammer. Basically you just need to break it loose. Then it will come right off.

Coolant looks low in the tank. Looking to delete mine as 100,000 warrantee is over.
I have a 2015 ram eco diesel and my exhaust filter is 100% full is there a way to correct it with out taking it to the dealer
See Robert Smith's comment about SFT. Pipe kit can be found online, almost all are knock offs but they work.
Stephen Lawrence go take your ram to a performance auto shop that specializes in Diesels. Get the tuned dpf delete and block off your EGR. Remove that cats. Keep the muffler or remove it up to you. Get the exhaust turbo back. It will eliminate that from happening again.
Matthew McCain every place I take it to wont do it everyone says it’s illegal in Louisiana so I’m currently looking for a mechanic that does it on his off time
Stephen Lawrence there are a few places that do it I’m not gonna disclose them on here. I live in LA and it can easily be done in one day.
Stephen Lawrence the reason most places wnt do it is because the computer has to be removed open up and flashed. Then installed back in the truck. There are a few places in Ball that do it

I have a 2014 eco diesel with the 2019 motor. I am waiting until my warranty is up to delete it, but do you have any idea on what to do to increase power and make it sound better until I can delete it? (DEF delete)
These engines don’t like a lot of extra power, they just can’t handle it in my opinion. The most I’ve ever done on one is a 25HP tune. And for the sound you could get rid of the muffler and just keep the dpf but honestly I don’t think it will make much of a difference.
Find video of Banks boosting one. These engines like most diesels can take power and enjoy doing it. Some chips on the market are doing over 120HP tunes. nearly 50% gain over stock.

Thanks! It depends on the rules and regulations in your area as to if it still passes an inspection, so make sure you know the laws before you do it! Some places are a lot more strict then others. And after the tune the DEF gauge goes to the empty position and there are no engine lights on regarding the emission system.
That will also depend on the type of tune you get to complement your parts.

Nope you can leave the egr on the truck or get rid of it, whatever you prefer. The tune deactivates the egr system.

Is it still possible to delete the egr with a tune? I’m staring to have egr issues but based on why I am being told, the epa won’t allow deletion of the egr system. I’m not a diesel guru but is there any way to delete the egr in 2021 with all the epa regulations?
Well you can tune a truck to run without emissions and it will shut off the egr, but you still have to physically remove the dpf and install an aftermarket exhaust as far as I’m aware
Ok, just talked to a guy who writes tunes. He said it is a possibility to leave the dpf on the truck and just shut off the egr system with a tune and leave it in place.
The problem I am having is finding someone who will actually perform the tune. All the performance shops I have contacted say that they are basically prohibited from going into the computer and deleting anything associated with the emissions system. This is my first time diving into the possibility of a full delete and tune but I had no idea how hard it would be to find someone to do it.
I’m sorry for sounding ignorant to it but I honestly am when it comes to this... is it that the epa can somehow detect when your trucks computer has been accessed and all the emissions crap deleted? Thanks for you help man
