    Lumia Phones It is a beautiful story and it stays in my memory from the experience of the Lumia 950 XL. It is the best and best phone I have bought in my life and still I have it and I still use it, but I was shocked when Microsoft announced that it will stop support for phones and stop some applications such as WhatsApp and Instagram. That didn't stop me.I still use it and enjoy its great photography

    Did you see the settings were complicated? Windows settings are a total breath of fresh air. On the iPhone setting things up is a nightmare, not on WP.

    • @TheIdeaofTechnology
      @TheIdeaofTechnology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, you are probably right but it took me 5 minutes to find the windows hello settings and the search bar wasn’t helping at all. I am not a smart guy after all. The settings are looking clean though. In comparison Apple’s settings getting worse and worse the more features they are putting into the iPhones but at least the pull-down search is really fast and helpful.

    • @2kBofFun
      @2kBofFun 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TheIdeaofTechnology Yes, somehow search does not work in Windows settings (does not work on a PC too). But the tree structure is very straightforward. Also they keep app-settings where they belong, in the apps, whereas with iOS those settings are all added to the main settings. Why do I need to leave the camera app to change a resolution or framerate?

    If Microsoft releases new windows phones at a decent price with decent features like good camera, replaceable battery and HEADPHONE JACK , I think it’ll become popular. I’d be in line to get one right away , wish I would have got one when they were around, they sound and look awesome. I think business would really benefit from this phone especially now , it’s 1000x better than blackberry.

    I ditched Android for Windows Phone back in July 2016 with the Nokia Lumia 830. Upgraded to a Lumia 950 XL in October 2018 and a Lumia 950 in September 2020 and I still love using Windows Phone as my daily driver to this day. Sure that the OS has died and a lot of popular apps aren't available on Microsoft Store, but I have everything that I need for my daily use and that is more than good enough for me. Plus, the 20MP PureView camera can still challenge todays' software-focused smartphones.

    I had a Nokia Lumia 520 for a mong time. I remember installing the first preview of Windows 10 Mobile on it, and 2 days after i broke it
    I went on a Microsoft Lumia 535 but stayed on Windows Phone 8.1, and i was in love with the OS, but the lack of developing was annoying.
    But thanks to Rudy Huyn, the creator of the 6 apps (6insta, 6snap...), it was enjoyable, until Snap forbid his app.
    But i broke that phone too, and went on Android..
    So i never got to really use Windows 10 Mobile, but i remember that Microsoft had a preview of Windows 10 mobile that could run Android, but it got removed on final version...

      @@NarinderxBali Honestly, It's not all that useful I find. The battery lasts less than an hour, the battery usage is so high that even plugged in it will take a while to charge up.
      The performance is OK, just a bit slower than 10 mobile.
      I couldn't get the new Microsoft Edge to work, Bluetooth works but audio devices don't.

    Ah the days on the windows phone.... I do miss them dearly.
    I still have my Lumia 1020 Yellow of course, my Lumia 950 XL, I believe also a Lumia 920 after my old Lumia 800 gave up the ghost. I also had an HTC Titan which sadly was the worst of them all, gorgeous phone but so many dead pixels from day one and on so many when I went to get it replaced.
    I ended up getting the Black Lumia 800 as the replacement, which I luckily was also able to claim the free £200 Monster headphones which I also still have and love! Although the fake leather bit had come off of the ear cushions 😔.
    But truly truly miss windows phone 7 and what became windows 10 phone I believe which doesn't sound so great personally.

    I hated moving on from my Lumia 950XL such an amazing phone. I still have mine with a display dock and am so tempted to take a giant leap backwards to it. When my banking app for it stopped being supported it was a pain but I used edge for a while then eventually I couldn't access my online banking with edge either and at that point I figured I better move on. When you can't do the basic stuff we all use our devices for it just isn't worth it to cling to the old tech. Just can't bring myself to get rid of it yet though. Honestly kind of tempted to see if I can dock it and stream Geforce Now through it and some of the other streaming services just for fun. Thanks for the video!

    It really is a shame that MS decided to let it go.
    Far ahead of its time and featuring very powerful hardware as well as useable software. Some of my friends were using it "back in the day" ;) I was blown away by the speed and the camera quality.
    At that time I used a Lumia 630 - due to certain circumstances and a very attractive price tag of 57 € - and I was trying to decide whether to get the 950 or the 950xl when Microsoft announced the discontinuation of the series. I was very disappointed to say the least and had a hard time choosing an alternative. The lifestyle solutions produced by apple were (and are) no alternative for me. So I chose Android and Sony and ended up feeling quite at home, but I still miss a lot of things about the Lumia series...

    It's a shame that the Windows Phone failed. It was a really great phone, way ahead of it's time. Probably failed due to lack of marketing and stores not having it on display, and the few that did had them in a back corner. Wasn't enough users for app developers to be willing to take the time to develop apps for it. One thing not mentioned in this video was the ability to connect USB devices. I had a USB hub that I plugged into mine, and everything I've plugged into it from external hard drives, printers, disc drives, game controllers, typing keyboards, midi keyboard worked with FL Studio, and even a mouse worked. Actually still a decent phone to use today for basic use, especially for people who don't like having 50+ apps installed.

    Hmm because Microsoft Windows 10 on ARM devices exists & is getting better it is possible to put it on a Phone. The Microsoft DUO
    maybe the device that could port Windows 10 on ARMS on it. Microsoft however wanted The phone in the Duo to have no Apps gap
    so they went Android. Microsoft does not realize there is a market for a Duo that Runs Windows 10 on ARMS that has a built in
    non smart phone in it. this phone would just be used to send & receive a voice calls & have few Apps. I always wanted an 7 or 8 inch
    Tablet with Continuum software in it so I could hook it up to a Microsoft monitor & do some work or play games or watch a video.

  • @Technocrat.

    The new surface x is ARM and will run win 10, not same as desktop, but close. Theoretically windows arm phones should be able to run same win 10.

      Due to the fact that the OS is no longer supported I can only give you a clear NO. Just go for a midrange Android device and use the Windows inspired themes you can get there. Probably there are so many good phones for a decent price out there. Like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Huawei or Poco.

      It all depends on the price and your needs. If you just want a phone with a camera that still beats the crap out of an iPhone 11 Pro, Galaxy S20 or a WoeWaai P40, go ahead, you will have a fantastic camera phone for like what, the cost of 10 beers? The calls, the texting, the user experience: all amazing quality. If you are an iSheep, that needs to be in every app and privacy denying wallet trashing online narcissism/shopping/service/media platform, forget it, this will not work. I use a 950XL as daily driver, and I still love it today. Telegram is my privacy friendly Whatsapp alternative, still in active development as the API is open to active developers, and all other digital stuff I do on a desktop.
