- HorsePower launches a Tri-five project with an original '55 Chevy. First, removing the body to replace the factory frame with a new, custom built foundation. Then, they'll build up the rolling chassis with new suspension and brake components.

Step 1 start with a restored 55 and an unlimited budget.Or just weld the cracks.
These shows make me want to go build something. If it were only affordable.

I'm in the middle of replacing my 57 chevy's tired old 327 with a Blue Print 540 big block... I'm now at an easy $50k spent! Needed to replace the rear end, put a Trimec TKX 5 speed in it and had to put in a flaming river rack and pinion w/ a new Ididit steering column. Added Caltrak traction bars and also re-did the suspension under it. One thing always leads to another! So, I can imagine what the cost of this build would be.
Sell the house, build a 55 "Super Chevy", what a ride.
Drop a nomad body on a newer 2500 frame and throw a mattress where the backseats are supposed to go. There's your house right there.

That fuel tank was nice but how can you change the fuel filter ????
I would´ve kept the blower and the wheel/tire combo. Never get bored to look at..
I agree, well, sort of, in my humble opinion a performance 14-71 blower is definitely a better look for a ‘55!
Plus, that current blower would be to small for the new 580” power plant..
Not to mention, that existing blower is practically just a noise maker rather than boost making blower!
As for the wheel/tire combo, the wheels will always be timeless! However, the rear wheels need to be stretched to be at the very least double the current rear wheel width!
I'm assuming you guys are pulling all that apart again and re assembling with grease

Never use 2 tape measures to set toe. Too many times have i had 2 tapes be different lengths.
I wish I had an unlimited budget 😭
So, what was wrong with the big block that was in it? Just the desire to upgrade again?
What spot weld removal tool is that used in the removal of the spare tire sump??

I'm glad someone else picked up on that
TCI manufactures their own version of the 4L80E, but they manufacture it with 6 forward gears as opposed to the usual 4. TCI calls it the 6X 6-Speed, and this is the transmission that Joe and his friends are using in this particular project.
