Man I swear I learn something new every time I watch and I’ve been wrenching for over 50 years. I should be paying for this schooling. You guys are great!

Thanks for the shoutout, Scott! We love to see videos showcasing either our 3/8" Pro or 1/2" Pro extension wrenches being used with cordless impacts!

I never knew they existed until Scott showed them. If you own a Bus or Motorhome these are invaluable because NOTHING! is in reach of an impact. Thanks tite reach and BGM!.

I work on Semi Trailers, most air bags that need replacing are rusted on and in a tight spot. After many a long and frustrating day I've found that the easiest way to take them out is as follows. Cut the bag with a sharp box cutter, grind, burn or Dremel the studs/bolts from the inside of the bag and knock out the outside pieces with a hammer.
It hurts to watch you guys do the same thing a used to before I finally figured out what I believe to be an easier way.

don't you just love that superior engineering, long term reliability and ease of repairs?
yes at one point most everything was actually made that way or had some attempt at easy repairs/enough space to do so. then along came college folks, with big certs and near zero actual hands on field experience.. the earliest college folks were actual multi-year hand on learned the hard way folks, that sought to improve themselves. now days? I'll just sit back quiet and watch the utter failure(to an point)......

I have been watching You Tube to figure out how to get that nightmare nut off under that bracket....the best I've seen is a scrap piece of flatstock and a shortened socket shortened with cut off wheel. I NEVER thought to cut the stupid old bag and cut the bolt from underneath...Blinders man! we all have blinders. THANK YOU!

Hi Scott, Hope you all had a great 4th! I hope you've videoed the lightning rod installation! I'd love to see how that is accomplished! Your consistent and quality work continues to amaze me and make me grateful to know you all have probably saved lives because of your uncompromising and professional mechanical efforts for your customers and for all of us who travel. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Be well, be safe!

Navy ventilation fans are large drums with center motor and fan blades. Perimeter is a lot of bolt and nuts on two flanges...many coats of paint over rust.
So we doubled up the wrenches and just tightened them until the bolt snapped. Much faster than trying to spin nut off.

    • @walkingthruyourdata-6019
      @walkingthruyourdata-6019 ปีที่แล้ว

I remember those fans when I had Filter washing duty. Always had to Chisel the paint off nuts and bolts. Painting ALL THE TIME!!!!

Love the videos. Keep them coming. Always thought I wanted a coach...but now, I'm not sure. lol. Scott, I have extensive experience and research about lightning suppression (45 +years). PLEASE make sure all grounds are tied together (a halo around the building), (all 4 corners of the building and the power service/breaker box) Its is expensive but use #4 copper wire, 4, 10 ft ground rods at each corner using the crows foot design. 1ground rod as the heel (corner) of the foot and 3, 10 ft away, spaced by at least 3 ft between toes and all rods connected. It is a great idea to catch the lightning...but then you have to do something with it.This design works. Welded connections vs clamped is best (thermite weld or you can braze the wire to the ground rods). If your area is prone to lightning this may save you the next time. Invest in a ground megger. Test your grounds at least yearly. The dryer the conditions, the worse grounds become.

Hello, My dad has watched countless hours of you working on all sorts of buses. He has encountered a few health challenges over the last while and asked me a few weeks ago if I would contact you about his 1958 GM 4104 road bus. It started and ran within the past year, however, I don't think the batteries aren't any good. It was converted into a motorhome in the early 90's and we used it for a number of years as our lodging while we traveled doing evangelistic ministry. I don't know a lot about it but the air & braking system, transmission, motor, all running mechinisims are original with the exception of changing air bags. It has a 671 Detroit, (I think) but not the original motor we had it changed a number of years ago, but out back the same type. the factory is gone and a generator is in its space, i think an Onan... could be wrong there. I believe he's considering selling it. I don't know what he'd want for it. If you're interested please email me, I can send pictures. Thank you for you time @busgreasemonkey

When you're dealing with thin nuts, buy some cheap sockets and grind/cut off the rounded part of the face, that way you have more contact area of the flats.

Since those nuts are shallow. Might want to take a 6point socket and grind it down a bit to get rid of the area at the beginning of the socket that is flared. Best at Ya's..

I would really like to hear from you because there seems to be no one with the heart it takes to care for and work on these old buses.

Scott, I enjoy your videos immensely. However seeing Snap On and Milwaukee power tools has me a bit confused. I was under the impression that most of your tools were from Harbor freight. Most of mine are. Seeing the Snap On air chisel could have been the owner of the buss. Anyway I like my Hercules power tools. I just have a small garage and do smaller jobs on cars and light trucks. Anyway, I was wondering if harbor Freight is your first choice in power tools. Ken

Could you comment on a good place to purchase air bags at a reduced price? I paid 350.00 each for mine. I found a place on line with dealer prices but was afraid of not getting a perfect match. I also learned there are many models that are close fits, but dimensions up, down, and the bumper inside varies a lot.
