    I appreciate the thoroughness of your videos.
    I recently did a build and debated heavily between the Corsair iCUE link fans and these Lian LANs because I wanted to get rid of the hundreds of cables LoL
    I wound up going with the Corsair fans, mainly because they had higher CFM ( I got the RX series fans, while their RGB isn’t spectacular, I wanted the airflow performance); plus my AIO and Case were Corsair - so why not stick with one brand while I could.
    I love the look of the Lian Li fans, particularly with that LCD, seen some really great aesthetic builds! I’m happy with the Corsair, but I still appreciate seeing the various types of builds and thorough reviews that you do

      @@jnthn.x it’s great to have options, but making a decision can sometimes be overwhelming LOL! I really only wound up going Corsair because I already have a ton of Corsair products, might as well have the fans too! But the really high CFM has been a game changer for my build - the RX series is fantastic, even if their RGB is like a B- on the report card, the airflow and cooling temps more than make up for that in my eyes

      @Doc_Hollladay it is crazy, insaine really... I mean, the entire point of wifi is to eliminate the usb connections and use a normal psu instead of mobo power. It appears they did that, then removed pwm as well, which pissed me off and fan power and then realized, "Oh crap we need power." Let's add the usb cable back for some reason... how is it an improvement to prefer power from a usb instead of fan, when psu is literally there for the purpose... why drive more power thru the mobo when you do not have to, because your not using signal headers.
      Lian Li has proven themselves incapable of not regressing hardware and software, this is but one example of cyclical break fix approach... release at all costs basically, not actually taking care of the customer.
      They have proven themselves to be untrustworthy in software development. Another example, they just update l connect for these new fans, they broken older ones.
      Lian li fans are knightmares due to software incompetence and over release of every possible permutation of hardware instead of 1 good long lasting product... they want us to buy every little half finished experiment they complete every 6 months, instead of anticipating what we want and providing it. There is no evolution at lian li, only lateral moves, break fix, and abandonment when the costs of maintenance get to high for their marketing lead engineering processes and results.
      It's very sad to watch, a company that made such great cases.
      I'll be returning 15 tl lcd screens today... wasted 2 weeks screwing with them.

    I've invested in Lian Li ecosystem recently but I regret it and I'm getting rid of it. Apart from O11 Dynamic Evo RGB case, everything else is just awful. Software to control it is probably one of the worst I ever encountered. Hydroshift AIO is probably has one of the loudest AIO pumps even on lowest RPM and the temperatures are worse than some of the slimmer AIO's I had and that's with high quality thermal paste and good mounting. My idle on 13700k was around 37 C, I had 29 C on Deepcool LT 720. Same fan speed set for both. The LCD screen does not work half of the time no matter the updates they roll out to L connect. I had to replace LT LCD fans several times as they arrived dead in the box and those that were not broken, the fluid dynamic bearing on those fans are actually audible even on the low RPM. Design wise, great and great ideas but their quality control is non existent.

One point: you talk about Lian Li L connect 3 software but I was wondering if this would also work with SignalRGB, which is the software I use now. The advantage of SignalRGB is that I can sync my entire setup (keyboard, mouse, fans, motherboard, even external components such as LED strips on my desk) in one smooth way. @Mister_JJS be careful, I'll never buy a lian li fan again after the TL LCD continuous stream of debacle. Strongly advise staying away from any lian li LCD and seeking guarantees that, if for example your wifi router were to go out, or if you boot to cli instead of windows, or anything like that... that your computer will not overheat since the fan control software is now so entirely dependant on ultra high level protocols like usb and wifi (instead of pwm firmware, low level).

    1. Does the LConnect software control the fan speed too? You said we can plug the fans directly to the PSU via Sata, so that means the motherboard has no control over them.
    2. Will this work with SignalRGB or other software for syncing? I don't want my Rams to get left out.

      It is 95% bad and older models are better. Biggest issues:
      Lian li fans are dependant on windows/lconnect/usb, now wifi... 4 added points of failure and integration complexity not oresent in non proprietary standards.
      Each lcd will consume 3% cpu on a 9950x in my experience... 15 fans, 50% on my cpu was used... I have to assume wifi would be more.
      Why design a wifi dongle for this, when my mobo already has wifi? Why use wifi, for 2 foot comes, that's what blue tooth is for? How will having 15 wifi transmitters 6 inches from my audio circuits affect the mobo? Why are they getting power from a usb port still.... why was does it jeep changing with every product... a fundamental principle of wifi design, if your already running a big power cable to the data source, you don't need wifi, just run a tiny single cable too, wifi becomes added costs and points of failure. Why did they break the TL LCDs when they release to support wifi, how much regression and missing QAQC can we expected with the added point of failure, wifi... why the hell do I need a dongle, and why not create a real daisy chained power bus from the psu directly... wifi and power designs should be good, or they should use or extend a standard, not random walk over every possibility guaranteeing incompatibility across everything.
      Had to return my TL LCDs, had hopes for the wifi line, not impressed... TL without lcds, functionally should be more adequate.

    Concept: A+, Execution: D The amount of cable mess you have to contend with seems to be the same if not made worse by lack of hub. This time though you get the added benefit of a gigantic suppository sized dongle sticking out from the back of your computer like an engorged mutant tick lol. Again, the concept is neat, but really....it ends up looking to be more of a headache if you're mixing and matching LCD and non LCD fans....

    • @TheProvokedPrawn
      @TheProvokedPrawn  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The controller is the same for both fans, so you only need one. You can wire it internally (I showed that), so that's ok. It's actually less crazy cable wise, than previous ones. unless you tried to mix in other fans of course.

    • @MrDosArcade
      @MrDosArcade หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The controller can be installed internally with the included adapter cable, so it's still hidden away.
      The single wire from the non-LCD fans to "somewhere else", which previously was a thicker cable with a 7-pin proprietary plug, is now a standard PWM connector with a thinner overall wire. And you can either connect these PWM cables to your motherboard headers, or to a single SATA connector that has three PWM ports, included with the controller.
      For LCD fans, yes, at first glance, it seems there are more wires involved, because you have a separate power and USB data cable for each group of fans... it's a tradeoff, to add the ability to be able to mix and match LCD with non-LCD fans, which has been a feature request since the TL LCD fans were first released.

    Frankly, having them powered by a SATA plug and daisy chain them just for power but control them wirelessly would be awesome. No cables visible anywhere. Though that might not be a problem if you go "back connect", you will still need to route FAR LESS cables.
    Using several USB headers might be a problem, though there are a bunch of splitters for those to find, use one header, attach more to those, but, will that work. If you need to draw too much data for one, which i don't expect to be the case, might ruin your plans, or if it doesn't recognise them all. We really need more info on this.

    Don't like the Lian Li quality. Got the non wireless LCD fans some time ago and the damn connection wire kept popping out as the cables were in a small corner. Tried to push in harder in and then the litte hook broke. Lian Li doesn't even sell those cables seperatly. Thermaltake Swafans are far better in every way with there magnetic connectors. Sure you don't have the LCD, but for the price Lian Li costs you don't get the build quality.

    "Wireless"

  • @HoLDoN4Sec
    @HoLDoN4Sec หลายเดือนก่อน

    i don't see the point in even calling this wireless if it uses more wires than their competitor's wired option lol
    Lian-Li's uni fans have always been a mixed bag when it came to "simplifying" things.
    i think their fans are better than Corsair for the most part, but their execution is just piss poor when it comes to avoiding cable clutter.
    also their LCD fans are pretty pointless tbh, why would to need to put an LCD on a cooling fan? this honestly has no practical use whatsoever and its just for bragging rights at this point.
    Corsair really nailed it with their icue link system, their pricing is just a bit steep and their fan portfolio is just kinda weird, you would expect the QX fans to be the best performing ones being the top of their lineup, but it is the RX fans which are at the bottom of their lineup that are actually their best fans in terms of performance lol

    • @BlazedReefer
      @BlazedReefer หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ive just bought all the icue link system and i can safely say unless your spending big bucks and using the QX version fans (£125 for x3 but worse than rx120s) the rest of the icue link fans are kinda crappy RGB (eg. rx120) for the money, the lian li sl-inf are soo much better for value and also look better and perform as good...just a shame theres a few more wires... Im kind of tempted to send all this icue link stuff back and go with lian li sl-infinity 120 instead as these rx120s Purley for looks 😅

    • @HoLDoN4Sec
      @HoLDoN4Sec หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlazedReefer
      when i reconfigured my case with new fans (i was using Noctua's A14-IndustrialPPC fans) i initially wanted to go with Lian-Li's Uni Infinity mirror sl140's because i thought they looked cool and their performance was also pretty good, but then after some research my biggest issue with the Lian-Li stuff is that if you're going with 120mm then you're pretty much set because they provide anything you need in the box (the controller and wires etc.), but if you're going with the 140mm version you are SOL and have to buy additional equipment separately (the multiple controllers and wires etc.) since they only sell the 140mm versions individually and not in special packs.
      another issue i had with Lian-Li's Uni equipment is that its a big bunch of wires for what they claim to be "seamless single cable" approach, i think Corsair really nailed it with their ICUE LINK ecosystem tbh.
      as for the fans performance, yes the Lian-Li fans do perform quite a bit better than the corsair QX's, in both RGB modes and visual aesthetics in general, but when it comes to performance, in the end the biggest difference you would see between fans is at most a 3c degree difference, which for all of the additional cable clutter that Lian-Li's approach brings i'd just stick with ICUE LINK if i already have it.
      in the end these are just fans, and if you have a good case with ample airflow then it doesn't really make you HAVE to get the best performing fans.
      in my case, right now i've been using only QX140 fans instead of the older Noctua fans i had (i have 3 140mm's in the front for intake, 3 140mm's in the top for my AIO rad set as exhaust and a single 140mm in the back for exhaust) and from my own personal experience after running this configuration with QX140's in the past 4 months i honestly only see a marginal 2-3 degrees c difference (as in the QX fans make my PC run a little bit hotter).
      but this can accumulate to multiple reasons, such as it was actually a little bit chillier before i switched to the QX140 fans, now its a little bit warmer etc.
      either way, for a 2-3 degrees difference? it honestly really does not matter what types of fans you use lol
      so in that regard, at least with my case (C700M) and in my opinion for aesthetics the QX140 are much cleaner looking than the UNI INF SL140's, and of course ICUE LINK is a far superior system to Lian-Li's UNI system.
      in the end tbh (and as long as you have a GOOD performing case), it all really comes down to which fans you think look better, and which sacrifices you are willing to make to use them (PRICE vs Cable and controller Clutter etc.)

    • @BlazedReefer
      @BlazedReefer หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HoLDoN4Sec for the price id still say lian li wins, lian li are cheaper the the RX and twice as cheap as the QX so that alone is a huge factor, it's a no brainer if buying a new pc build go with lian over Corsair and get visually better and performance matched for half the price... worth having an extra 2/3 wires (that you dont see) for half the price and better quality,, and the sl inf 120/140 v1s look sooooo much better than the rx or QX infact they look better than ANY Corsair fans! ...i cant even be debating that lol it just does... They run cooler, look visually better, have more RGB, have backwards versions available, are cheaper to buy, and perform better.. win win in my opinion.. only thing corsair icue link has going for it is less wires...but at double the cost and worse performance.

    • @HoLDoN4Sec
      @HoLDoN4Sec หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlazedReefer you are forgetting something, Lian Li is definitely the best option for 120mm, and they even have special starter packs for their 120mm fans to get you easy going into their UNI ecosystem.
      but their 140mm fans are a completely different story, since they don't have starter packs for their 140mm fans you have to get your fan controller from somewhere else which sucks.
      if you also want to use their striker wires you need another completely different controller for that as well.
      Lian Li's UNI offerings, especially for 140mm is a mess.
      also keep in mind that most people that opt for Corsair's QX fans don't really care about the cost (i mean, these are 50$ fans) and just favor looks over performance.
      as for build quality, i will have to disagree with you, Lian Li's fans are kinda cheaply made and hollow compared to any other fan i'm aware of, and the RX fans do have superior build quality to Lian Li's fan, at least that is what i noticed from my experience comparing the SLIN140 to the RX140's, the SLIN140's felt kinda cheaply made while the RX140 felt solid.
      neither of which by the way get even remotely to as well made as any Noctua fan i have here, in comparison both of them feel like shit in terms of build quality but i digress
