this was my sadness song in my teenage years when my first girlfriend left me. the circus perfectly reflects what I felt. I was a circus, the circus she left and I missed him as a thirsty young man 😅
The vocalist Marko Saaresto is not only singer/songwriter but graphical designer planning all their visual material. The making of the "Carneval Of Rust" video was so called 'taluk work' on very low budjet with the help from all band members and couple of trusted graphical designer friends. I absolutely love Marko's silky smooth voice. "Angel" Alexander Theatre Sessions live is will pierce your heart.
I second that version of "Angel". And there are other great song versions from that session too, but that song felt like it was always meant to be done like that.

They were massive here in Finland in the early 2000's when you had MTV Europe when they used to play music videos, you had Poets Rasmus, Kwan really great bands and great music.
Thank you so much for this heartfelt reaction. The Poets are my favourite band and have been for over a decade. You can just feel Marko's voice in your heart. They have a song for every mood I could possibly be in, and they always make me feel better. I think "Angel" from their Alexander Theatre Sessions would absolutely wreck you if you haven't heard it yet (I'll check your other reactions to them next, I can see one in the suggestion bar already).
I love discovering bands through this channel, this song was 10/10 for me ... WOW! Man yeah that last part hits like a truck. I'm happily married but I can still relate to that feeling. 💔💔
Yeah this one cuts deep, especially that last part when you didn't really expect it. It reminds you of the sadness you feel about things that might have turned out different, like you said.
Incredible song that has stood the test of time & is increasingly relevant today. The Carnival is the toxic parts of the world, hence the face mask, the coins she has to spend - the limited amount of time we have here, so spend them wisely. Try to ignore the temptations of greed & material things, watch out for two faced insincere people, take care of one another. Love is everything. Every scene of this video has deep meaning & Marko is a genius creative & lyricist, a beautiful soul.
Don't be hard on yourself. If anyone's music and voice can make person emotional, it's POTF and Marko. :3 Thank you for reacting to them and so openly. Lots of love back to you.
I commented before your final reaction, POTF music will hit you, like “who is cutting onions “ type of hit. Been where you have Tommy and it’s all good.
Small almost unnoticeable thing in the music video says it all... When the song ends the machine spills out a piece of paper with the words ''Cor Cordis'' It's latin and means ''Heart to Heart''. I think that summarizes this reaction video and the song so perfectly.
Close, it means "heart of hearts", to be "at the heart of it". She is everything to him... despite the untold issues in the background. "Heart to heart" is "cor ad cor". "Cor ad cor loquitur." = The heart speaks to the heart. A look into the woman in the video is to read the tarot cards that appear throughout the video, a basic reading of the cards tells her struggle and story, she has a good reason to walk away, but the end hints that she may be willing to come back if he's changed. They appear in this order: The Star, Nine of Swords, The High Priestess, Eight of Cups, Nine of Wands, Ace of Wands, The Magician, The Star, Strength, Ace of Cups, Nine of Swords, The Star. It's also important to see the correlation between the card shown and events in the video. For example, the Eight of Cups appears when she throws the ball at the plates - signifying walking away from (presumably negative, in this case) people in your life. Literally, she's breaking away, breaking the bonds that held her back.
@@XaryenMaelstrom That is interesting. All of the sources I've used says "heart of hearts", I check before I replied to you, and that was also the translation I found when I first really analyzed this video about 10 years ago. (No, I don't make a habit of analyzing music videos, but this one had so much going on I couldn't resist.) Checking your translation, I do see translations that say "heart to heart", but only when you are translating "cor, cordis" (meaning cor and/or cordis), not "cor cordis" as a single phrase. All translations I've found of "cor cordis", including the ever-popular Google (always accurate, right?) translates it differently, as "heart of hearts". Cor means "heart" and cordis is possessive, meaning "of the heart" or "belonging to the heart". An accurate translation of "heart to heart", though, is cor ad cor, with "ad" meaning "to". A popular motto is "Ad Astra", To (the) Stars.

One of my all time favorite bands! I still have their Signs of Life album that I bought when it was first released back in 2005. My sister and I had just moved out on our own and we listened to the CD non stop for probably a year. Nowadays I will come back to this band from time to time, when I have an emotional need only they can fill. My favorite song of theirs is and always will be 3AM. It's not one of their strongest song lyrically or musically, but it is beautiful and meaningful and true. Even if you don't make anymore PotF reactions, make sure to check out the band on your own time.
Thank you for reacting to Poets of the Fall, one of my favourite bands. Their lyrics are always so multilayered and so much room for interpretation. Sometimes catchy but never simple. And of course Marko's voice is amazing. They're also great live, I saw them 8 months ago on their 20th anniversary tour and it was well worth travelling 500km there and another 500km back in one day.
Wolff thank you for this video. Your openness and honesty is wonderful. You have a powerful lesson for all of us in sitting with emotions and allowing yourself to feel them, in not hiding them. This was really beautiful. Much love to you.

I was hyped to see all kind of my favourite bands you're reaction 😌🤘🏻 I'm glad to find someone genuine person! Who doesn't say like and subscribe! This song has got me through hell and I really was so happy to find this! Ty for making this 💜
Poets of the Fall is my favorite non metal band. Hands down. Also, they are another band in an alternate universe called The Old Gods of Asgard. An 80s power metal trio in the Remedy game universe. Great shit! Everything by Poets of the Fall is amazing. Some of the most beautiful lyrics you'll ever hear conveyed by the most beautiful voice.

wow man....your reaction truly stands out for what its supposed to mean this song....true emotions and ....don't ever be left behind in the end....don't walk away.....please :D
That "Don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning" part hit me deep in the feels also, because I had not so great ending to my relationship last year. It all ended so quickly and I fell into my knees and I was begging for her not to go.. so yeah. But I'm all better now, mentally and all.
Oh dude, I feel for you. I spent 6 years with someone who told me every year they didnt want me. I learned that I will never beg for no one ever again.
Thank you! Live version from this was a greatest👍 Same to Nightwish with Tarja, song Sleeping Sun, Phantom of the opera, Ever Dream and Ghost love score👍

You clearly loved it - please please please see the live version (react or not, just watch it. Moscow gig back in the day, the video should be available on POTF channel here on youtube. 😁
I appreciate the kind words. I really try to limit pausing. If I do, its only once. I don't like with reactors pause, unless there is something important they feel needs to be said. I got more Poets coming this week.
This is a great song and a great band. I don't know how many times I've seen it and it still hits me in the feels everytime. So, please! Keep being open. There are some good, thought-provoking anaylsis videos of this song. My favorite describes this song as the journey of the conscious mind (the girl) through life with the subconsicious mind (the man in the box) trying to serve as a guide and help us develop. It examines a lot of the symbolism in the song, from the fires and the salamander to the doll, the cracks in the glass in the box (indicating that the subconscious mind keeps trying to get our attention and help us), to the meanings of the tarot cards beside the box, which flip through and change several times throughout the song.
❤❤❤Another true hidden diamond from Finland. No matter live or video his voice is just out of this world. And the whole band is amazing❤❤. If you really want to go deep I highly recommend the "Alexander theatre acoustic sessions". ❤❤❤.
Great song that hits deep. Yeah when you're a kid it’s so easy to think everyone will find a gf/bf and fall in love and live happily ever after and yada yada, then reality hits and smash those rose-coloured glasses to a million pieces. But that’s life i guess.
@@draug7966 I think it shows the difference between those who thrive and just let life swallow them...you have to have this perspective that you can live an amazing life without someone. Those who think they can't live without a partner is in trouble.
I liked it. They remind me of a band called Stabbing Westward. Good vocals and the music was laid back, but that's what made it all really well. A vibe for sure.
The poets are just great. I saw them in Stockholm a year ago. Saarestos voice is amazing...and Ollis guitar fantastic... You should check the Alexander Theatre Sessions out....Thank you for a great reaction. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
I love that you didn't cut off that part where you're completely still, just processing. Made me doubt whether I was paused or not, which made it all the more impactful when you weren't.
Fantastic reaction. This song is beautiful and always connected with me. The last part of the song hitting so hard. I always make choices, and I hope it will be good. I never saw you that speechless. Big hug to you 🫂
Ya, the song was beautiful...but it reminded me of that hopeless feeling of not being wanted by the person I wanted to spend my life with. As I get older, the harder I look for joy. Because you can get lost in the pain the pain that you face.
@TheWolffAndTheMelody Unfortunately, I know this feeling. I slowly enter in age when you become feeling that you waste your time for nothing and you stuck with "I should pick this... or that..." to get in a better place instead think that I pass through problem and still make do something awesome. You are doing a great job in your life, and you've got wonderful kid. That's the best thing.🫂
damn dude. That means alot! Ive noticed that poets has brought up some feelings that just suck when it pertains to my marriage. But we gotta heal and move on.
Here's an overly detailed analysis of this music video because I have little else to do with my time. The circus itself is very sinister and seems almost predatory with the imagery and how the performers are presented, and the fortune teller is not any better. His song isn't a ballad of sincerely loving and wanting to be with a woman he cares about or an innocent wish to he loved and healed, it is him demanding that this woman has to love him because he's decided she is his savior who will pull him from his miserable and decrepit position. It's even shown in the Tarot reading he does, the Star portraying her as a savior or beacon of hope and healing and the Nine of Swords representing his misery and despair he insists she is meant to save him from. "I need you. Without you I have nothing, so I am demanding that you love me so that I can be be fixed and escape this place." The opening lyrics make this pretty clear, since once the prose is deciphered it's basically him saying "You definitely share my obsessive and greedy idea of love and don't fault me for pushing this desperate fixation on you, don't you?" The creepy carnival barker at the game the woman is drawn to who is clearly just eager to get money from her is played by the singer as well, seemingly symbolizing how self-interested and dysfunctional his idea of love and desire to have somebody take him away from his problems actually is. The woman being in a gas mask to me also has some symbolism, showing the circus as a literally toxic environment and hinting at how the fortune teller doesn't even see her face as an individual beyond the love and obsession he is projecting onto her even as she backs up in seeming fright once the chorus kicks in with his direct demand and her attention gets drawn elsewhere while he gets more desperate as his perceived only chance to escape his misery leaves him to rust.
My friend... I know how you see and hear that song... POTF do all their songs with emotion and reality. I love that band! Marko has an incredible voice and he also sings with emotion and it can be heard in his voice. " Where Do We Draw the Line " is next...
It's abandonment bro😢 or at least that's what it is for me what the song felt like for me, at what I struggle with. At each time don't walk away was sung, I felt more and more sadness and melancholy we can't change the past only the future we can't go back we can only grow or wilt, I choose to grow painful though it might be the song itself is song superbly and the vocalist emotes exceptionally well.❤and✌️
Thank you for the reaction and sharing your thoughts. POTF is an amazing band with so many absolutely fantastic songs, videos and live performances. Please do react to Angel live from the Alexander Theater Sessions, Daze music video and Lift, the video, the live performance from their Moscow concert in 2013 and The Alexander Theater Sessions. Also Requiem From My Harlequin music video from their latest album.
Awesome reaction. Few music videos can do the same. I wish another finnish band reaction: "Turmion Kätilöt - Kuolettavia Vammoja" if you feel serious or Dance Panique if you feel funny. What ever you have in you, if it's bothering you, I kindly recommend MGTOW content to kill it before it's out of control. I also enjoy melancholy but when I compare it to mental freedom, it's not that amazing.
This was so raw, if I could recommend a song of theirs to you I would say take a listen to Skin. That is so powerful and a beautiful song. Even if you don't post a reaction video, take a listen. I think you may like it.

Appreciste you so much friend! Thanks so much for the support.
Amazing 😮❤
That's the best thing.🫂
sooo thutching lyrics....and singers voice❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We're here FOR your rants and rambling!
Thanks friend!
Poets of the Fall, Late goodbyes from Max Payne2
Bro, my ex showed me this music, and I loved her with a measure she was never be able to understand. I can't help but respect the work you do here!
damn dude. That means alot! Ive noticed that poets has brought up some feelings that just suck when it pertains to my marriage. But we gotta heal and move on.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Tell me about it, lots of memories wrapped on these songs.
Without you I have nothing, so I am demanding that you love me so that I can be be fixed and escape this place."
The opening lyrics make this pretty clear, since once the prose is deciphered it's basically him saying "You definitely share my obsessive and greedy idea of love and don't fault me for pushing this desperate fixation on you, don't you?"
The creepy carnival barker at the game the woman is drawn to who is clearly just eager to get money from her is played by the singer as well, seemingly symbolizing how self-interested and dysfunctional his idea of love and desire to have somebody take him away from his problems actually is.
When a grown man wipes eyes - my respect... My feelings absolutely....
@@samivarjo7589 much my friend
Awesome song. Awesome Finnish band. Saw them live this year in Tampere, Finland. Missed the first attempt to see them live due to the band had covid.
I bet it was amazing!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Definitely worth the travel to Tampere town.. Great band.
♥️ I hope you are feeling better.
Much better. Its been 3 years since the divorce and im so glad to be free.
My friend... I know how you see and hear that song... POTF do all their songs with emotion and reality. I love that band! Marko has an incredible voice and he also sings with emotion and it can be heard in his voice. " Where Do We Draw the Line " is next...
Loving POTF. Please watch song Angel from Alexander theater, live session, you'll love it ❤
I will check it out.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Yes man 👍
I almost put another Song of Them this month request... Im gonna save it in future then..
I cant wait to hear more.
try " Sleep" also, and those alexandra theather acoustic.... they are so professional.
It's abandonment bro😢 or at least that's what it is for me what the song felt like for me, at what I struggle with. At each time don't walk away was sung, I felt more and more sadness and melancholy we can't change the past only the future we can't go back we can only grow or wilt, I choose to grow painful though it might be the song itself is song superbly and the vocalist emotes exceptionally well.❤and✌️
I'm glad our paths crossed dude.
❤❤❤
This song is a creeper. You try to shrug it off but it sticks ❤
@@tanjajko7220 Yea...I wasnt ready
you should react Poets of the Fall - Angel, Alexander Theatre Sessions
❤
Thank you for the reaction and sharing your thoughts. POTF is an amazing band with so many absolutely fantastic songs, videos and live performances.
Please do react to Angel live from the Alexander Theater Sessions, Daze music video and Lift, the video, the live performance from their Moscow concert in 2013 and The Alexander Theater Sessions. Also Requiem From My Harlequin music video from their latest album.
Added!
I hope that you react to Requiem for Harlequin someday. Poets of the Fall is soooo good!
They have been so fun to dive into.
I'm so glad you selected a POTF song - great reaction and hope you continue to check them out! New subscriber
yooo thanks so much for being here friend! I plan on checking out more.
I know what you mean.
Alexander Theater Sessions!!!
Live
This was so raw, if I could recommend a song of theirs to you I would say take a listen to Skin. That is so powerful and a beautiful song. Even if you don't post a reaction video, take a listen. I think you may like it.
Thumbs up. If this song hit give a listen to 'Where Do We Draw The Line' :-)
@@tuomio74 Theres a reaction up of it actually
That's awesome. Can't remember how manyt times I have asked ppl to react to it. This is, I think the second I have seen. :-D
I love this song since when i first listend to it at 2010. Marco's voice is perfect, the lyrics are phenomenal, the music is very good, the video a piece of art...
You have to listen to "Angel" from the Alexander Theater Sessions...
I planned to go down this rabbit hole.
Tarja Love to Hate
