It's a challenge to listen and not cry.
Sad or happy, it makes no difference.

POTF's songs are all masterpieces, the music, the poetic lyrics, and also their videos, if there is one. Therefore, they deserve more than the average reaction where someone just says "this was great" - they deserve attention to detail, and in a Poets reaction video I hope to see someone who truly listens, relishes Marko's beautiful vocals, enjoys the music, and pays attention to the words and the visuals in the video. You are one of the few reactors who do all of that and appreciate their art. Thank you for that, and also for your honesty. Not many have the courage to show their emotions when a song or voice touches them. I look forward to more Poets reactions from you, if you want to dive deeper into that rabbit hole. Just be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. They certainly do know how to rock, but some songs hit pretty hard. Angel from Alexander Theatre sessions, like someone here mentioned already. But also others like Beyond The Horizon from their newest album Ghostlight, or songs like Dancing On Broken Glass, or Moonlight Kissed ...
Thank you for a great reaction video. 🙏

    1st Poets song I ever heard ❤🎣
I think of the house as her deepest self that she’s retreated into after a heartbreak/loss & Marko is her tucked away inner self speaking & reminding her of the reasons to come back through the tears to the light & all the people that cradle her in love.
In the same way listen to their The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper.
Reminders to be strong, accept love & love yourself too.

What a beautiful deep song! And, BTW sir, don't ever be sorry for pouring your soul out when you speak. Your feelings and opinions matter and we're here to listen.
In terms of this subject, "love", I was tremendously hurt and I shut my heart to anyone else for a while. But what I have learned, as I've come into terms with myself, my grief, anger and mourning, is: when we lose someone, we can always change the ways we love, so it can be fully given to other places and people. No wall or wound is truly capable of killing love. Our lack of accountability with ourselves does.
That said, I see the bedroom as her heart, the guy's her consciousness in the image of someone she loved dearly and lost. Her consciousness tries to convince her that, despite of what happened, she can give the same love he received to somebody else.
I know I might be talking nonsense lol, but that's how I see it. And once again, this song is amazing!!!

On the notion of how tears can be healing. The Poets have an amazing song, Angel, that also talks about that. The Alexander theater sessions version of that song is for me definitely better than the studio version. It's a stripped down acoustic version and Marko's voice complitely shines in that one. The acoustics of the theater is fantastic and the song always gives shivers to me.

One of my favourites from Poets, Marco sings at a higher note than usual in this one. As a suggestion, for something more positive feeling from Poets, and a song that I somehow associate with Cradled in Love in my mind, is Can You Hear Me. A positive song with the end of the video having the perfect message. "Compassion is the answer. Be a part of the solution."

I'm sorry for all your losses, Tommy. You're right that most of us have lost someone, or many someones in our life. Sharing your losses and your raw emotions so honestly must not be easy but I assure you, it has an effect on others. It's not always easy to watch your pain because it raises up my own pain too. But I've come to realise that it's not a bad thing. It helps you to go forward with whatever you're going through. Bit by bit, by allowing the emotions to come and go, it gets easier to live with the pain.
I lost my father two years ago and couldn't deal with the emotions for a while. For almost a year I couldn't listen to any music because that would've broke me down and I wasn't ready. Then I started with the Poets and the gates opened. I moved to Nightwish and that lead me back to metal that I had listened years ago. Last spring I decided that it was time to really enjoy live music again and bought as many festival tickets I could afford for the summer. I've been to five festivals now, all alone and sober, and one is left to go.
The biggest metal festival in Finland, Tuska, was one of the best experiences of my life. Those three days were both emotionally and physically exhausting. I saw a ton of great bands, went through all the possible emotions, and met some great people. On the last day I broke down and cried for a long time before I could go in to the area. But it was a good cry, it was long time coming and needed. I cried for my losses and for myself as I'm fighting a life threatening illness right now. And then I went in and let a good doze of power metal to pick me up again. Good old Stratovarius worked like a charm.
I feel a strong connection to your pain and message because we seem to have very similar struggles and personalities. I'm also a lone wolf who very rarely feels lonely but yet appreciates real connections. I also have a long history with depression that I've been finally learned to manage for the last 5 years or so. It seems to me like you're a highly empathetic person as am I, and it's not always easy. But I hope that you'll find your tears more healing than crushing, like I have this summer.
Life is amazing when all the emotions are welcomed and not feared. I've learned a long time ago that how ever low places life takes me, there's always light at the end of the tunnel. I just have to stay alive, breath, and wait for the darkness to pass over.

I love that you always pause to let the song just settle a bit when it's done before you respond.
This is the first song by the Poets I ever listened to and I fell in love with Marko's voice immediately. "What's your favourite band?" has not been a difficult question to answer ever since. All of their lyrics are GORGEOUS. I desperately want a tattoo in their honour but I just cannot decide what it should be.
I'm very sorry for your loss, but I think you phrased your thoughts on the topic very well and very thoughtfully. I repeat what I said in a previous comment (about 10 minutes ago): "Angel" from the Poets' Alexander Theatre Sessions is going to wreck you.
Also: thank you for being open about your feelings. Thank you for allowing yourself to cry. I hope many other men will see this and learn that it's okay for them to do the same.

I started crying in the middle of the video. I've lost my -more than- very best friend almost 6 years ago. Another one 18 years ago, and my ferrets, specially Fando, who I love(d) with all of my soul. 🖤 I say, and I will keep on saying this 'till I die, and later if possible, that Fando is the owner of my heart.
Music like this hits in the very soul of ppl like us, who usually feel alone without them...
    Its freaking though...
I've been talking about things like that on a TH-cam channel that we have started a few weeks ago. I'd love to share it with you, Tommy. Just I'm not sure.
Anyways... Thanks again for sharing these things about you and your life. The way you feel, the way you think. It feels so good to share music, but also the things that makes inside us.
    Stay metal, man. 🖤

I've been down the European metal rabbit hole over the past year. I came across Poets, obviously not metal but, holy shit, can they convey feelings in their songs. Two other standouts from them are Dancing on Broken Glass, which is very upbeat, but the video will destroy you. The other is Children of the Sun, which just makes me think how much I love my 3 daughters. For more fun experiences, I suggest My Dark Disquiet or Choice Millionaire.

    • @TheWolffAndTheMelody

      @-breakofdawn- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

May I add to this that Choice Millionaire was ahead of its time and, albeit "fun", has a deeper, serious message. All of their songs have a deeper meaning, even if the music may be upbeat and rock your socks off. 😉 And they do metal as well, just not as Poets of the Fall, but as their alter ego band Old Gods of Asgard - they released a metal album under that name last year, most of those songs only have lyrics videos but are definitely worth checking out as well.

I'm not completely sold on his singing style, but he is a great vocalist for sure. The lyrics to this song hits deep. This is an extremely simple song, but in that lies the genius of this song. It just spells out exactly what he wanted to say, and it's effective. I'm sorry for all your loss, Tommy. I have been down that road, and it is possible to get even stronger on the other side of it. 1. some people, whatever the familylinks, are pillars in our lives. Without pillars, it takes time to recover the grief, and to find another way to stand up. There's not shame to grieve and to express sadness and lost some times.
    2. we all need some food for our soul; through love, feelings, emotions, esthethic or sound, whatever. There's no shame to struggle to be really good fed as we need it.

Wrecked.. I don't even know what to say. Except that was beautiful and haunting.. anyone who has been separated from their love, no matter what kind of love it no matter how it happened, will feel this. I don't have the emotional empathy battery to comment intelligently on what it meant other than what I just said. Maybe the last thing would be if it is real love and you're separated from it then it's real loss and real grief, but it's real and you should feel something like what this song is saying to me..

Sometimes I don't know if I should comment on the music or comment on your feelings watching this. In this particularly, there are a few things about 'love' I would like to shake off my mind. But I always struggle to find the right words. Anyway, what you said about struggling to be seen, really seen. I think I know exactly what you mean there, and I have always been the same. But things suddenly change when you meet 'the one'. Many things change. Whats f'ed up tho, you don't know that you've met 'the one'. That is something you know only after a long time of being together.
I don't believe in love at first sight. I don't believe in the gut feelings, they mislead me way too often.
And another thing about love: When you read through the internet, through comments, in song lyrics, etc.. apparently everbody has been hurt somehow by someone. And that's probably true, but can we talk also about the people that did hurt? Where are all those people?
Well, here I am. I am one, who knows I've hurt someone, badly. And never did I have the chance to say sorry or to explain, as miserably as you can expain you've been an a**hole. And I have felt like sh*t for years because of that. Retrospectively I know what went wrong but I didn't know at the time. I assume most of us have been hurting someone, but sadly most are not ready to admit or recognize it, or even reflect about it. But it's a cleansing process, a painful one, but we all learn through our own mistakes.
all right, I didn't mean to make such a long comment again. But your reaction inspired it. To the song.... I'm sorry, Poets are just not for me. I think their lyrics are very deep, and he has a very unique voice. I'm just not too sold on the music, but that's just me. No offence to any fan. Much love 🖤

To your other point, unfortunately I was on that end too. I know i've been an asshole. I always try to go back and apologize when I've fucked up.
