I've watched the 1985 film of The Colour Purple and now I've watched this musical film of it and it's brilliant and wonderful. 💜💜💜💜💜 I may not know any of the cast, but they were brilliant and what amazing voices they had. It was nice seeing Halle Bailey again on screen since her fantastic role as the title character from the brillant Disney remake of The Little Mermaid
So much intergenerational trauma. This is a tribute to what healing could look like. Or at least a start. If all involved had the courage and will to finally end it. Beautiful movie ending.

🎶🎶🙏🏻 I came into this world with God then at the end when they raise their arm to God to give him praise then they bow their head put their hands together ahhh- men🎶🎶 I saw this 2 times in the movie my favorite scene thank you god❤
I thought I was the only one who noticed that and was bothered by it. Other than that the scene is perfection, it's such a distraction from an otherwise glorious scene.
Really wish they would have captured the same power as the ending to the Broadway musical where Celie gets to let loose and ad lib a bit more with the chorus really swelling and building… this version felt a bit lackluster overall. 😕
