    Bob, do you know that the touchscreen in all Mazda cars with MZD connect (since 2014) becomes disabled when driving. Mazda want you to only use the rotary controller when on the move. This makes perfect sense from a safety point of view. The screen is only touchscreen when stationary. So after all the touchscreen is not weird. It's a pity you didn't get the top spec, the platinum+. It's definitely on par with a 3-series or a c-class if not better, only difference being it will be reliable! Love the video. Long live Mazda!

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Touchscreen is far safer for changing carplay stuff, it's designed to be used as a touchscreen. I do understand that the Mazda interface is clunky so touchscreen is a bit mushy. People will click things and do stuff while driving, being forced to pull over to acheve this is just frustrating. Still a great car, I would still buy.

    • @deet4895
      @deet4895 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 2015 Mazda 6 GT and in my particular example the touchscreen works all the time, it doesn't matter if I'm doing 4/100mph whenever I touch the screen it responds, so I'm guessing mine came with a glitch are something that allows this to happen, but either way I prefer it been a touchscreen all the time.

    Great review, Bob. I had a 2.0 Mazda 6 Sport Nav a few years ago. Brilliant to drive, great gearbox as you say, but 2 key problems (1) the 19" alloys loved being kerbed and (2) at 70mph you had to shout to make yourself heard, which was very wearing. I'm pleased that this latest version seems to include improved sound proofing, that would make all the difference.

    I love my red Mazda 6, I love how agile it is, you can really floor it and drive it rough, you can feel it’s made for that. I like how people also comment on how beautiful it is in the outside while it assimilates a bmw on the inside. It is true, I find myself stopping at gas stations more than I’d like, and the small fuel tank explains it. If you buy it red, it hurts like hell every time I find a pebble marks on the hood because I know there is no sealer that will match it ( 8 layers of paint)... and also, you are inclined to wash this car by hand. Needy car! That you fall in love with the moment you see it!

    Completely unrelated with wltp phevs they get lower co2 if they make the fuel tank smaller as it's calculated using the proportion of pure electric to ice range.
    Along with the space needed for batteries and other electric stuff it means a 330e has a 41l fuel tank Vs 60 in the 320i. Smaller fuel tanks are going to become the norm.

    • @robertmarsh3588
      @robertmarsh3588 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conor Nugent I also wonder if it is trying to prepare us for the lower range we'll get with BEVs?
      There's some specmanship going on for sure outside of this anyway as weights are usually calculated with 90% fuel load. Becomes a big thing with motorcycles where weight is an important factor into the bike's usability. Bottom line, though specs may "improve" we're getting a less usable product.

That's not bad but the new one isn't rated as high and you can get the 2.5t engine now so the range in those with AWD has to be like 250??? not good.

    Mazdas interface stops working as a touch screen when the car is in movement. The point of this is for the driver to only use the console knob because it's safer to manipulate the settings this way than be reaching the screen to change anything.

    Bob, not sure how you tested the millage. Mine on the full tank twice already was in a region of 60+mpg. I do 60 miles round trip to work (majority motorway). On full tank 706 miles before tanking (1130 km) and the last time is cost £69. This at £1.30 per l gives 53l and ca 4.7 l/100 km. Skyactive diesel 150BHP.

    Mazda 6 are one of those cars that look nice from some angles but not others. I think you should try and introduce/incorporate night drives into your reviews Bob. They used to sell Mazda 6 with a hatchback style opening just like Octavia or Arteon or A5 but they removed it from these models. Such a big mistake. The saloon style boot is such a unpractical way to be able to load i don't even know why they are still doing it. This car probably would have be the winner for me but the boot opening style and the non turbo petrol engines was a killer unfortunately so picked something else instead. Nice review tho.

    Eke!!
    If you can afford a new 6, or know anybody that can and wants one, you better buy one quick, as it looks like Mazda is about to kill them off for good, with no sign of a fourth generation in sight!!
    Indeed I know that Mazda has been constantly refreshing the 6 since 2013, while they released a fourth gen 3 about four years ago, but as "old' as it is, the third gen 6 is still great and it's been great that you could still buy a new one when so many other companies are killing off saloons altogether and certainly not many around making them the way Mazda still make the 6, petrol, naturally aspirated, manual first and foremost and just the right size!!
    But indeed while we've still been able to buy the 6 saloon in three specs for many years, the estate lost all above its' base spec about three years ago, while it was the opposite way in the U.K.
    But the biggest warning sign that the new Irish 6s are running out is that starting about two weeks ago, while you could still select your desired spec, gearbox and colour etc, all the little extras like puddle lights and side skirts etc are gone...
    While looking at the U.K.s' Mazda website, the 6 is now totally gone there and in other countries!!
    Sure we can still buy a 3 and its' about 90% as good as the 6 , but it's smaller and rather plain at the rear!
    Anyway, as said, buy a new one when you can!! 😯😐 .

    I had a brand new RX-8 and I feel I have to say it was an atrocious prospect. It too had a tiny fuel tank, and horrendous consumption. Okay, this is better, but that's still an annoyingly small tank. I got shot of the RX-8 quickly when it became apparent that the rotary was susceptible to premature wear AND there was little to no effective rust protection.
    For me a Mazda is a car to have on PCP for exactly 4 years and then get rid. Fast. They aren't built to last. Genuinely, I wanted to love my RX, but it was built to last for 6 or 7 years. Any more than that and it was coffin dodging. Nothing I've seen recently suggests that their basic engineering premise has changed. Volvo, VW and Audi, do NOT think this way. They care about their old cars being scruffy, or scrapped, because it makes the brand look poor generally.
