      Hey Vigo i have a question for you.
      Do you think we as a Polish nation we are exotic to you? Not like mean way just like exotic people for us are Japaneasse people or Carabean. Dont take this as a some racist way i just wonder.

    • @VigosDad
      @VigosDad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kubadkuc thank you Kuba, it's not a racist question at all. You are for sure exotic to us, especially to those that have not had the chance to travel to Europe.

      You might want to know we say "ze Szwecji". This is kind of irregular, though, and basically "z" is the form used for most countries. We also say "ze Stanów Zjednoczonych" - from the US

    • @krzysztofmatuszek
      @krzysztofmatuszek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can just remember we use "ze" for words beginning with an S, this works every time: "ze Słowacji, ze Słowenii, ze stacji", etc

    • @barteklesko
      @barteklesko 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@krzysztofmatuszek I think it's all about the presence of vowel (samogłoski) in begining of word. We say "z Sandomierza", "z Sosnowca" but "ze Stargadru", "ze Szczecina". Same with letter w - "w poniedziałek", "w worku" but "we wtorek", "we Wrocławiu". Its basically for make sentence easier to pronounce. Similar to "a banana" and "an apple"
      ps. it's not a hard rule, we say "ze Zgierza" but "z Grójca" - i dont know why :p

      @@bethhelminiak5063 my half son is also exploring his polish heritage mainly on you tube. It’s a big fun for me as a mother to talk with him on this topic. • @bethhelminiak5063

      @@pipilangsztrum interesting! I'm learning Polish, while my dad (who spoke Polish before he spoke English but is spotty with it now after 60+ years) is learning Spanish (which I learned in high school). Its kinda funny, in a way. I'm rediscovering my roots while he's looking forward in self-defense (my parents live in Texas, so Spanish is prevalent).

    • @pipilangsztrum
      @pipilangsztrum 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bethhelminiak5063 Yeah, indeed, it is interesting. I always wonder if there really is something like „national personality” and if there is is it biological or just a set of norms we grow up with. In my son’s case it seems like there are psychological things written in people’s DNA.

    Średnio radzę sobie z angielskim, więc napiszę to po polsku (sorry about that 😉). Wielokrotnie słyszę różne rzeczy na temat Polaków (być może ze względu na mnóstwo stereotypów o nas, które krążą gdzieś po świecie). W pewnym momencie doszłam nawet do wniosku, że Polacy nie są zbyt lubiani za granicą i do dziś żyję z tym przeświadczeniem, jednak takie filmy jak Twój są dla mnie nadzieją na to, że może się troszkę mylę. Słowa, które w tym filmie usłyszałam od Ciebie są autentycznie najpiękniejszymi słowami na temat Polaków, jakie kiedykolwiek słyszałam ❤️❤️ Strasznie Ci za nie dziękuję! ☺️ You made my day!

      Jesteśmy bardzo lubianym narodem. Większość pokolenia żyjącego za granicą posiada syndrom sztokholmski. A konflikty z osobami innej narodowości wychodzą z tego, że jesteśmy niezłomni w swoim przekonaniu i dążeniu do celu. Co bardzo denerwuje naszych pracodawców, ponieważ nie mogą nami sterować jak sobie to poukładali w swoich głowach...

    We, Poles love our grandparents, like, they take a whole place in our heart (scientifically brain) and i feel like we are chained to our dziadkowie more than any other country, but i may be wrong here

    Hey there. Just to let you know I’ve watched some of your videos and mostly you’re right in the spot about us.. Poles. Considering this one I fully agree that as an individuals we have a lot, a loooot of drawbacks and I hate it.. honestly, I freaking hate it.. every single day. But as a nation we’re unbreakable, unbeatable, proud yet kind and friendly. But that’s what exactly make as Poles. That’s our culture, our history, our legacy, this is who we are and I love it and I wouldn’t change it!
    Have a great day 🙂

    You are a super cool guy - emotional, naturally expressive. This is what Poles lack, who are sometimes a bit cold and stiff! That's why it's nice that you are with us!
    Super fajny emocjonalny, naturalnie ekspresyjny gość z Ciebie. Tego brakuje Polakom , czasem trochę chłodnym i sztywnym! Dlatego fajnie, że jesteś z nami!

    ABout being humble. I am polish, and usually I am humble, as you mentioned. But living in Germany forced me to "act different". And it really is acting.
    When I was searching for a job, I had that job interview, I was usually like "yeah, maybe I can do this." or " I have no experience, I don´t know" etc.
    I was 15 and I simply was telling the truth. I also wanted to sound friendly and not over the top.
    As a child, you learn to be friendly, not loud and such stuff.
    But yeah.... people probably thought, that I was an idiot. ^^
    So later (and with a bit more experience) I changed my behavior completely. In one interview, I was like "I am sure, that I can do it!" "no problem" "I want to try it out" - and I got the job.
    In my last interview, 5 years ago, I acted like a very cheerful and very open minded person. And I told, what I can do but never said anything about stuff, that I can not do.
    And I got the job.
    Meanwhile, in the jobs, and living in germany in general, I recognized, that: If you don´t tell everybody, all the stuff what you did, then it never happened.
    Soooo I learned to tell the people: "oh look, I can do this shit and that shit. Oh look, I a m good in this, and good in that!!!!"
    This is completely against my nature, but sadly nessecary, because otherwhise, everybody would think, that I can do nothing.
    In germany you have to tell people and smear it in their faces, what your skills are. It is even so absurd, that there are so many people, talking about, how great they are, but in reallity they are really bad at averything.
    I look at people completely different. I expect them to be able and capable of everything. I think, on a basic level, everyone is good and only needs a little bit guidance for special stuff in special jobs.
    I made the experience, that, everytime, when someone is over the top telling me, that he knows something, than actually the opposite is truth.
    And because of that, we Poles are probably more humble.
    We don´t need to tell everybody, what we have, what we can. It makes people suspicious if they are praising themselfs too much.
    And yet, in germany, this is kind of expected. And that makes me nuts. :D
    example:
    Person A: I wallpapered my walls.
    PErson B: oooh wow, nice. you are very skilled.
    poland:
    Person A: I wallpapered my walls.
    Person B: ? - you wan´t an award for this?

    Sir, you nailed it. My great grandparents left partitioned Poland more than a century ago....and so much of my Americanski family behaves just as you point out. Poles are tough...I have pointed out to my Rusyn neighbors that Slavs are the world's toughest people.
    BTW, my wife is Latina.

    A thing I really love about Poland- just as you said- is that polish people know the country and it's history. I would even call it "historical awareness", they are a lot more patriotic and stick to their own people. Furthermore the patriotism isn't connected to politics, it's the awareness of the poles themselfs and the country. Protecting polish culture and way of living from others is engraved in our bones and passed on from generation to generation to never forget who we are and what we stand for. I sometimes wish that the population here in Germany had more of that🤔😊
