I also own the Kemper Profiler Head and the HX Stomp. My advice to you would be the following. I see that you have two Strats hanging on the wall. Sell the Squier, keep the PRS. Sell the HX Effects and sell the HX Stomp. Instead, buy either the Line 6 Helix or a Neural DSP Quad Cortex. Also, consider selling all of the tube and solid state amps that you have on the video, and instead purchase a Fender amp such as the Deluxe Reverb. This way you will have a professional profiler (Kemper), modeler (Helix or Quad), and a tube amp (Fender Deluxe). These three will cover most of the necessary studio and live needs for a long time, and in the end it will save you more money. I am also about to sell my HX Stomp and a bunch of other gear and get either the Helix or the Quad Cortex. I think I’ll be getting the Quad Cortex as it seems more future proof for the next while and its smaller size than Helix.
If I wanted to run a helix I would just keep the HX effects and run it together with the stomp. Those two units together are better than the helix, I actually made a video about it: th-cam.com/video/aL-p3J3U75Y/w-d-xo.html
Yes to everything you said. I use it with the UAFX amps and the OX for cabs. I also have analog overdrive, tremolo and chorus. I use it even more then I use my helix rack now. It just perfect. No problem whatsoever with my board now even though I swap in different amp pedals like the IRX. I’m not selling it!
You want I hear the most tragic thing... I traded mine for an ir-x and some cash. It was a good deal, but the tragedy is that I would have loved to run the hx effects with the irx and my dream 65 in stereo... it's like that gift of the magi story
MIDI Clock Send and Receive HX Effects is able to send and receive MIDI clock via its MIDI 5-pin in/out, as well as via USB. MIDI Clock options can be enabled and configured within the “Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo” options. MIDI Clock Send: Transmit MIDI clock to synchronize the tempo of external pedals, rack gear, and software to the current HX Effects TAP Tempo rate. MIDI Clock Receive: Synchronize the HX Effects time-based effects (such as delay and modulation) to incoming MIDI clock from external DAW software, drum machines, keyboard workstations, or other modelers. Note that the HX Effects TAP footswitch will flash blue (instead of the default red) to indicate the incoming tempo rate when receiving MIDI clock.
Simply based on what the used market would bring, I would not bother to sell the HX effects. I too have one and use it pretty extensively. I use it mostly for the routing capabilities to multiple amps and for spatial effects. I don’t use it much for the fuzzes or overdrives as I find that external units still sound better to my ear. To me what sounds like “bloom” in an overdrive pedal sounds like an artifact in the digital world, though your mileage may vary. I use a two amp rig and one of those amps has two channels that are not foot switchable so being able to route various set ups is Fantastic. And I also like the fact that if this unit goes down, I can pick up another at reload my entire routing setup right back in using HX Edit. Great units.
Thanks for the vid! I JUST bought an HX Effects this week. I paired it with a Friedman IR-D and it sounds great. I have a used MIDI controllable TC Electronic Nova Drive on the way and will use it for any OD/dist.
If you run that hx effects/ir-d combo in 4 cable, it will put the ir-d output last in the signal chain, which gives you the advantage of the ir-d's USB audio and headphone output capabilities, while still putting the preamp section of the ir-d before any wet effects you might have on the hx effects. ... just put an fx loop block in your hx effects where you want the amp to be, then connect your guitar to hx effects input, then connect fx send to hx effects to your ir-d input, connect ir-d fx loop send to hx effects fx loop return, then hx effects output to ir-d fx loop return. Last, plug ir-d output to wherever you want to send your sound.
Been there, done that... Then bought it again. Do yourself a favor - Instead of selling the HX FX, put it away in a drawer or closet and try to forget about it. If you don't use it in a year, sell it. If you can't live without, you don't have to!!! Selling gear feels good at the moment, but you end up financially upside down on deals like this. You know you love it, you know you want it. Trust your heart. Keep the FX. 🙂
I cant seem to find it on the HX effects, is there a way to spill over effects, moving from a accoustic patch to a distortion creates a break and flow of the song. Ive googled the daylights out of this and all keep referring to the Helix HX but not the HX effects. Any help would be great...
Don't transition from one preset to the other. Make a single preset and transition from one sound to the other using snapshots. If you're using Reverb or delay, make sure trails are on... are you using an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar?
I've recently bought 2 tonex ones. I have a Helix lt and i've been thinking about selling it and getting the hx effects. Would that make any sense or am I crazy?
An HX effects would be perfect with dual tonex ones!!! ... HX effects has two effects Loops so you can run your tonex pedals in stereo. And once you're set up with your effects presets, you're not married to the tonex pedals, you can use amps or anything at will.
I'd be so fired from a studio gig. I need simple buttons and knobs. No menus. You cannot preplan what a new artist and or producer/engineer is going to ask for. YOU NEVER KNOW. I just need to be able to see it and twist knobs instantly. I want the HX effects to be like that.. but after watching this.. it's really not.
Out of the box, when you first use it, it definitely is not. It's frustrating it first... but once you learn your way around it, it really is like that. I think it was right around the 2-year mark I finally felt like I really know my way around it. Then I sold it 😟 I really miss it
Stay to the end to find out why I'm selling my HX Effects even though it's hands down the best most useful workhorse guitar pedal I've ever owned...
My gig rig is an HX effects with an IR200.
Seven cable method to two blues cube artists, stereo or wet dry. Sounds great 👍

Nevermind... The USB on the IR-X is NOT a USB audio out. That's infuriating, what a missed opportunity.

You should do a video about setting up the FCB-1010. I had one about 5 years ago. It was impossible (for me) to program.
I thought about it but I figured it's such an old product people might not care anymore. Maybe I'll give it a shot!

@@BillySoundFarm it's an electric guitar, but acoustic and distortion patches. I was reading about snapshots and creating a 2nd one with trails on.

This made me WANT to buy one more than sell one. 😂
I want mine back
