As a keyboardist, I also double as an additional guitar resource in live settings. This sounds so good and takes so little room that it makes setting up and breaking down so much easier. Thanks for sharing.
Agreed. With this setup you only get one effect at a time, plus maybe some reverb. With an HX stomp you get a lot more flexibility with effects and saveable presets, and it's all in one pedal.
@@LA.Guitar Hi Lee your rig sounds great. Do you have any thoughts why it didn’t cut live? The HX One and Stomp are the same tech and should work exactly the same. Thanks!
@@nopinionocomnt it’s all personal taste and real world experiences. Mine is I couldn’t get the stomp to cut, but I can with the IR2. You can probably get the stomp to work well to your ears and that’s cool
My take is the IR2 with the stomp . The IR2 is based on Boss amps not models and have a natural analog feel under the fingers and natural feedback just like a real tube amp. I'm a Helix owner and love it so don't think I'm a hater lol...but on a stomp it's hard to get the feel under your fingers with only 8 blocks unless using a real amp n cab. Just my experience I know HX well and in order to create a decent sounding patch that also feels good 12 blocks be my minimum lol
Yeah, I have an HX Stomp, and it got pretty much everything one could want. But, the video shows that you really don't need to have a lot to get awesome results. I think with Modelers, sometimes it's too easy to make things unnecessarily complicated.
I purchased the MS50G when Lee first raved about it. Maybe he will see this an give us his opinion about using it with the Boss IR2 like he has done here. 🤷♂️🤘
This is a great combo. Perfect. I'm going to use the IR2 with a zoom and maybe a Micro pitch in the loop since I will live in the hi gain amps . Mostly the brown sound which I also love on the Katana amp. Great channel. You guys rock! Thanks so much ! ❤ Really love these videos. ❤ Regards from South Central Indiana. USA. Tim ❤

It's simple, easy, sounds great and the best thing is being able to have a few beers because you can simply get an uber home and bring everything with you. No more packing down then jamming everything into the car boot for the drive home...
This isn’t too far off my “no thrills” setup of HX stomp and Tonex in the loop 👍 Line 6 effects are always overlooked but worth checking out - the newer dynamic reverbs give most other pedals a run for their money 😊
It took me far too long to realise that the guitar was going into the HX ONE first, and that the 'pre-amp' section of the IR-2 was in its loop, rather than the HX ONE sitting in the loop of the IR-2. It would have been helpful for the hard-of-thinking viewers like myself if this was explicit from the start.
Love it. I'd probably still want to throw another pedal or two in the mix, or maybe one of the smaller multi effects units instead of the hx one, just for a little more fun. But I think most guitarists should limit their rigs like this and just focus on playing :D
I think this quite genius....for the power n flexibility id use stomp in same way. Im usually with Paul on these effects units that feel under my finger is almost as important as my tone. The Boss stuff responds great . Something lacking from even the QC . 💯👍🏻
I’d take this over the hx stomp. I’ve owned the stomp and honestly some of us will never use all of what the stomp has to offer. The boss ir and 2 in 1 drive pedal is all you need.
How can you hook it up to use a drive from hx one to front of the amp, and then similarly have the delay effects in the loop when you choose to use the delay?
I don’t have either of these but I believe the HX lets you position whether the effects loop (IR-2) comes before or after the effect for each patch on the HX One.
I was sure there was a later version of this where the IR2 was replaced with a Tonex One doing a couple of amps. Then connected to the Helix One as in this video. But I can't find it - duh?? Am I cracking up?
So in this setup as shown here, is it possible to run the HX One's stereo effects, direct it to the FX loop and from there to the DI box --> mixer? Or is it all in mono?
Interesting minimalist set-up. I always think I want/ need more, but in practice not much extra gets used. So, where can we find Lee’s eBay &/ or Reverb shop? Presumably there’s now a few bits of kit going spare …

An original idea, nice. So you plug directly to a console. What would you do for on stage sound? Would you connect to a guitar amp or you just have monitors?
Very nice setup... I just got the Boss GX100, partly due to your vids (i love it and I obtained your patches 😁) has the Boss amps seen here and offers more FX than the HX one as well. But I do like line 6 fx as well... options options
I had a gx100, but moved to Hx Stomp as I could not get a satisfying dirty sound. The IR2 here sounds very good, though! I would love a comparison of ir2/gx100 using the same amp and ownhammer ir. In the gx100 I always had the inpression that ir were somewhat muffled.
