Thank you so much. I finally found a video that actually makes sense. I got the hang of it after rewatching it a couple times. I have experience from making hats so I got the hang of it pretty quickly. This is gonna be my first project with size 6 glacier color yarn. I think I should be done in a week. This is just so awesome. You have to be the most patient person on the planet. You do such a great job of explaining. I had the green infinity loom like yours. I agree that loom is hard to work with. I gave mine to my great-niece 10 years old. She was so appreciative to get that loom. She will do wonders with that loom. I showed her how to loom knit. She knit a hat and went home and did her own creation. came back to visit and she did another hat with me. Her little sister 6 years old wanted to knit. She did a lap blanket within the hour.
I didn't think I had the patience to teach, I amazed myself. Loom knitting is such fun and rewarding, especially when children want to learn.

I love your videos! Your explanations are easy to understand coming from a beginner ..I’m coming to the end of my yarn how do I cast on? Same as before?
Greetings! I am happy that you found the video helpful. I am sure there are fancy and nearly invisible ways to add new yarn. However, when I am working on the afghan loom, I just simply tie the end of the old yarn to the new yarn with a small secure knot and keep going. It will be barely noticeable or not noticeable at all when your project is finished. This is the link to a video about changing colors. When I first started loom knitting and even sometimes now, I simply tie the two ends together in advance and just keep loom knitting. Of course, depending on the yarn you may or may not see the knots in the finished afghan. Using the method in the video for the round loom will help make a smoother transition. i love the kind and positive energy you give out. it's so lovely to see on all of your videos and in the way you respond to comments. i wanted to ask your advice re the edges. if i make a large blanket using the maximum amount of pegs i can on the KB (S or 8 shape infinity) loom, should i still only do 4 rows at the start and the end (KPKP) + 4 pegs/stitches at the start and end of each row (KPKP), or should i do more, say 8 rows (KPKPKPKP) at the start and end of project, and 8 pegs/stitches at the start of each of the rows? just wondering if the edges will not be big enough bearing in mind the size of the blanket. not sure if that makes sense? Thanks very much for any thought or guidance.
Hi J M! First of all, thank you very much for being on the channel. Yes, your question makes a lot of sense! I think it also depends on the weight of the yarn. The yarn I demonstrated with was a bit too heavy. For a huge blanket, I don’t think it will hurt to do 6 to 8 rows on each end to be sure of less chance of curling. I think the k,p,k,p, along the sides will be sufficient. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have only done baby blankets on the afghan loom. @@WambuiMadeIt thank you so much for responding; i am really grateful. that's great, think i will indeed do 6 to 8 rows at the start and end of the blanket and will stick to the kpkp at the start and end of each rows. i am waiting for the loom to be delivered before choosing my yarn as i dont know what the gauge is like and if i need chunky yarn or not. i'd like to be able to use chunky yarn as it's gonna be a huge project but i'm prepared for needing smaller weight yarn if needed. sorry for taking more of your time but do you have a suggestion for a soft chunky and a soft smaller weight yarn for a blanket? i am in the uk so there are brands i can't get. i always agonise with choosing the yarn as it can make such a big difference to the project. thanks so much and no worries if you are unable to help re the yarn query.

I have a hard time maneuvering it, and I do not find it relaxing, but I do like the option that you can make a wide length afghan...

I feel the same way you do about this loom. 🤗 I thought it would be much more fun than it was. My favorite way to make afghans now is using a small round loom and producing the ten-stitch blanket.

Making afghans is my favorite loom projects. I just finished a holiday colored project, I was going to try to sell it, but my son adopted it so I decided to make two more afghans so I can make afghans for my other children. I hated the other afghan loom you were using before. I like a KB afghan loom, but now I'm thinking I want to try that loom you're using here. Never have enough looms right?

As I explained in another comment to you, I finally got rid of that green afghan loom from the previous videos. I am much happier with the wooden loom. I LOVE your videos! You are an outstanding teacher with loom knitting. I also was using this infinity loom for the first time ever to create a very large afghan. However, I am having problems with the binding off. I can't seem to move the stitch from one peg to the peg to its left. Not even the first peg! Could I go ahead and use another way to bind it off? I know for one baby blanket, I did the bind off by actually taking the yarn needle and weaving it in and out of each peg loop. Would it work with this afghan? Thank you!
Okay, Wambui, I figured out what I was doing wrong and corrected it. Sadly though, my end is now all curled at that end and horrible looking the whole way across! Do you think if I unwrap a few rows of it I can re-do the knit/purl for 4 rows again--and then do the cast off over, it will be okay? Or am I stuck with this awful end of an afghan that is very wavy, curly and tight and looks terrible! If I do unwrap it, thankfully I do have a lot of long rectangular looms and I can put the knitted ends on those rectangular looms (pushed together and on my large dining table!) to re-do. What do you think? Is that an option for me to fix it? I just don't want to display it now since it looks so bad on that end. The rest of it looks GREAT! lol!
Hi Nancy! I am happy that you figured it out, while at the same time, understanding your frustration with one end not being as nice as you wanted it to be.
Two thoughts:
1. You could try blocking just the blanket where the curling edge is. This is a link to a video that will help you understand how to do that. I am not saying to do the whole blanket but just the parts that you want to lay down flatter or be shaped better:

Sadly--the curling is not only at the ends but the WHOLE way across the top where I had to bind off. :( It rolls and puckers something awful. However, I will still watch the videos you supplied for me, as my baby blankets all had the ends curling, too - (save one, thankfully!) and I was able with much effort--to get that curl out of the others. I wish it was only the ends on this large blanket/afghan (it is large enough to cover my queen sized bed!), but as I mentioned it is this way the whole way across the top! It is just curling under, and puckers awful, with the puckering going down a few inches in the middle of the blanket. lol! Leave it to me to get something weird like that! :P But, I am very thankful for such a quick response and will watch those videos--many, many thanks! You're SUPER WONDERFUL! :) Have a great day!

You are my go-to teacher for sure. You are the absolute best. My question is silly but the number of pegs you use is the width then you knit however long you want the Afghan?
Hi Regina! Thank you so very much for watching. Yes, the number of Pegs will give you the width of the blanket. However, keep in mind that you’re going to lose about 10 inches once you take it off the loom, so you always want to add extra pegs to ensure that the width is the width you want it to be. As far as the length, loom knit until you feel you have the size you want. If you are doing sections and want to join two areas together, you want to use a row counter to ensure each section has the same number of rows.🌻🌻🧶

Hi Lynn! I am sorry to here of your frustration with your blanket. The only way I know to fix it is to ‘block’ it into the shape you want. Once something is blocked it usually holds its shape even after washing. Your blanket is a large item. However, people do block blankets all the time. You will just need the space to do it. With blocking, you can, while the item is wet, shape it how you want it to be and straighten out the wonky end and then let it dry. I am sorry I can’t come up with any other solution right now.🧶🌻🧶

I love your videos. You do go slow and seem to kind and comforting when ding this. BUT I am confused about something and i hope you can answer me I bought the Infinity afghan loom, and was hoping to make the full size blanket. SO I assume i use the whole thing. Correct? The booklet with it said that i have to reverse and go back the opposite direction after a row. DO i do that, or can i jsut keep going around and around? Also , they suggest doing an all knit, or all perl blanket. It that what is best, or your way? I want to see if i got your way right and that is alternating knit ;Perl rows for 4 , and then doing knit except for the start and end of each row? Is that correct? My main confusion is i guess if i need to reverse after each row when i am using the complete loom. Can you clarify for me?

The first row is all ewrap.
2nd row -all purl
3rd row - all knit
4th row - all purl
After the 4th row and until the end - all rows begin and end with 1k,1p,1k,1p - EVERYTHING else is the Ewrap knit stitch. The center consists only of the e-wrap knit stitch.

I learnt how to loom knit from your videos but I have a question for the long loom. Can I switch from the criss cross stitch once I have everything on one side(before taking off the loom) to the E wrap stitch for a different look? OR would that turn out weird?

Hello! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I am at the end of my Afghan, and I was just wondering about the last 4 rows. Since we started the Afghan with 4 rows of KPKP, shouldn’t the last 4 rows be PKPK? Since we want it to be a mirror of the beginning of the blanket, and P was 4 and K was 1 (so P 4th last, K last). I appreciate your help! :)

I received an afghan loom as a gift and love this video! I have a quick question--when working the first and last four stitches, are you ending on a knit stitch or a purl stitch? KPKP-KPKP, or KPKP-PKPK? Does it matter? Thanks!
Hi Patricia! Thank you for watching. The way I did mine was with the OUTSIDE STITCH ALWAYS A KNIT. So, when you start a row, it will be KPNP. Ending a row will be PKPK. Be sure to mark your pegs using one color for all of your purl stitches and another color for the knit stitches.

Part 2 is great. In part 1 where you explain the beginning and the end k-p-k-p i didn't grasp the first 4 pegs (so i have a section on each end that is just the eknit. I'm wondering if i start now then balance it on the very end perhaps it will not be obvious?? This is my first afghan and so i can't visualize it. Hi, I just wanna make sure I understood Video correctly. I did print out the instructions you gave and video one and watched a video too. However, when you cast on the next row is it knit a row and then Pearl a row then knit a row and then pearl. Then you start with the four knit, pearl, knit pearl and then it all the way is knit ,that correct? Because in video 2 you gave two ways of doing it I just wanted to make sure. Thank you.

Does this pattern keep the material from curling? I’ve noticed when looking up beginners crochet and knit kit, the pics show a curl in the material when finished.

Greetings! You place the markers on the loom at the beginning. After the first four rows that you will use them when you start and end each row with k,p,k,p. The makers will help you to remember on which pegs to knit and which pegs to purl.🧶🌻🌻

I started this blanket awhile ago and then cast off but now I want to add to it. Is there an easy way to do that? It was initially for my little but she has decided that she likes my nightmare before christmas blanket so I now want it wider so I can use it lol.
Hi Anjelica! Thank you so very much for watching and being on the channel. The only solution I can think of is to loom knit another blanket just like the first one and join them together.
Getting the length to match will be the biggest obstacle unless you counted the rows. You can just measure carefully as you get to the end and match them up.

Hi Kimberly! Thank you so very much for watching. This is a question that I have gotten a few times. I think I will make a separate video about this. Here is where your darning needle comes in handy. You are going to thread each of those yarns through a darning needle and weave the needle with the yarn through the edges of the project to hide them as best you can. Then you cut the yarn. (Sounds more complicated than it is.) I have posted the links to two videos below with the timestamps of where this is occurring in those videos. I made a blanket with #4 Ombre yarn. I loosened as much as o could before using the cast off from the infinity loom. It still was pulling in spots. Do I need to knit looser or what? I can’t see here how to post a picture. I’ve had this happen twice with Ombre yarn. Two other blanket on infinity loom with corse yarn were fine.
Hi Glenda! First of all, thank you sooo very much for watching. I am sorry to hear that your blanket is pulling too tight. Sometimes the cast off end of the blanket is tighter than the cast on end - and the whole blanket looks ‘wonky’. Instead of loosening the stitches of the last row, it is sometimes easier to purl the last row very loosely - with large loops - and then do the cast off. Hi Lola! Of course it will depend on the size or the weight of the yarn that you are using and how many yards are in your yarn skein. On average, - and to be safe, I would have 8-10 skeins on hand. Again, It depends on many other factors. However, you will need an average of 2,000 to 3,000 yards of yarn - depending on the weight or thickness of the yarn. Hi Sheila! A full size blanket is about 85 inches x 90 inches. Although there is a size that is sometimes referred to a a general ‘afghan size’ and that size is 50 inches x 65 inches.
