    I had bought this exact loom for my mom for Xmas 2020. She was suffering from cirrhosis nonalcoholic and non heptatic. She was drained the sun before Xmas was given the covid 19 shot the 23rd and it was like someone had flipped a switch with her and she passed away new years eve. Never once got to use it. I made a goal to make some type of blanket with it and found this video. I am making an awesome blanket everytime I feel sad. I can't wait to finish it... thank you... this has been a life saver

    I love your tutorials. So easy to follow and well worded. I have books and can find patterns but often am confused by wording in them. You have greatly helped me understand what they actually meant and get better at loom knitting. Thank you!😁 Can't wait to see how this turns out.

    Thank you so much! I have a huge supply of the Lion Brand Homespun back from the Hobby Lobby Clearance (got them all for $1.29/skein) and I knew I wanted to make a blanket, just wasn't sure **how** I wanted to do it. I was going to crochet it, but then discovered loom knitting, and now I'm thinking that's what I'm going to use! Thank you for this tutorial!

      Hey, I know this is an old post, but I wanted to extend my 28in loom all the way out and make a big flat panel blanket, but it honestly intimidated me and made me think it would take forever! Do u have any tips for me? Like I dont know how to cast on using each individual peg, unlike just using it the this video does. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks and have a Blessed Day!

    So glad you made this video. It really helps me understand the free pattern from KB's website better. I just got my Lion Brand Homespun yarn order 2 days ago (colour #336, Barrington...Lion Brand had a five for $10 yarn sale and even with shipping and exchange, I saved $ importing to Canada), my KB 28" loom arrived yesterday, and I started making this as soon as I got the loom set up...I was just itching to get started! I've already got more than 12" done...it goes fast once you get the hang of it! I love the look of this afghan and the Lion Brand Homespun yarn comes in so many pretty colours to make it in!

    I'm glad I saw this video because I think it is solving a problem I am having with the 28-inch KB loom. I started a shawl with Bernat Velvet yarn, but twice now (and only halfway through the shawl) I have had to release the loops on one rake and release the tension on the middle of the rakes because the yarn was pulling the two rakes so close that I could no longer get my finger or the hook between the two rakes. I suspected the problem was that I chose to use the smallest dividers on the ends. I tried REALLY hard to keep the weave around the pegs very loose, but it didn't help. Eventually the knitting became too tight and pulled the rakes together. After seeing this video, I believe using that smallest edge on the dividers was a big mistake. I should use the widest side just as you have. If you have any other correction I could make, I would appreciate hearing it!!! Love your videos!! I have stopped working on this shawl because I got too discouraged. Removing all the loops this last time has created a big mess and I can't find my way back to a level row.

    first, love your videos - you're one of my go-to's when I'm trying to remind myself of something that can / should be done on the many looms that I have and you're always a fantastic resource.... now my question - following your instructions for the blanket, my right side always seems to come out looser than the left side - is there something I'm doing wrong or sit that normal for a beginner to experience?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Salazar thank you so much :)
      I think the turning the loom when wrapping and also when knitting over will help you. It can even put the tension. Also pull downward on the work instead of just pushing it down. Those things should help. Basically what happens is when you work from the front only it can risk the front being more snug and the back more loose. Please let me know if that helps you. :)

    Hi, I've had my eye on this project for a long time! I'm kind of new at loom knitting, I've started projects and they just never looked right. I have now learned that it was the videos I've tried to follow. So anyways I know this is an old video. I'm doing this project right now, I'm using homespun in gothic (my friends favorite color is purple) I'm making her a wheelchair blanket, she has an amputated leg. So I'm going to make the fringe shorter so it won't get stuck in the wheels, but instead of doing the top and bottom, I was going to do the bottom and sides with some fringe. My question is... do I still do the same bind off if I'm not putting fringe there? I hope you see my question. I love your videos btw and I think your a great teacher!!

    Very nice vid, love the overview first.
    If I make a shawl with this, thus narrower, can I sew a couple of buttons on one end and button thru the knitting or do I have to make a buttonhole? THanks in advance!

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      momisapilot yes you can make it narrow for a scarf. The buttonhole really depends on the button you get. If you want to use an existing button in your stash I'd work up your scarf for about 12" and then check it going through. You'll know then what size to buy to use something available or could make a buttonhole if needed.

    I'm working on this project now and I've noticed the loom is starting to "bow" in the middle. I feel like I have had consistent tension (maybe too tight?) And I'm alternating my knitting over just like you showed in your video. I'm about 4in into the blanket. Should I unravel and start over? I'm worried about doing this with the fluffiness of the yarn. Or can I relax my tension and have it even out?

      Annette R on a regular stockinette (flat panel) it will roll. This is a double sided stockinette fabric and won't roll. Are you sure you did it this way?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Annette R oh! I wanted to add that the fringe should help too. But for regular stockinette, that is worked on one side back and forth, it's nature is to curl. I have a helpful article on curling on goodknitkisses.com for a longer discussion to troubleshoot and solve that issue.

      you would have to sew panels together to get 120" wide. but you could make it as long as you want, simply by using more yarn.

    • @jeanjaz
      @jeanjaz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GoodKnitKisses I wanted to know the answer to that question also. You didn't answer the question. :(
      How does the blanket end up being nearly twice the width of the loom? Is it because it is a small gauge loom and a stretchy stitch? Is it because of the stitch itself - it widens out after being removed from the loom?

    • @ramygeo4624
      @ramygeo4624 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeanjaz I did this same pattern with the same yarn in a scarf. When I finished, the scarf was about 3 times wider. Between the specific yarn and the double knit stitch combination, it will be much wider.

      @@ramygeo4624 oh wow! Thanks! I'm still new to loom knitting and I've only done one pattern - a winter scarf - in double knit in a really soft baby yarn or sport weight yarn. Just plain knitting, no fancy set up or anything. :). I had to switch from crocheting because of my hands - couldn't hold my tension anymore. I'm simply amazed at what you can make on a loom (I have about 10 looms now, diff sizes, shapes, and gauges.) I've done regular knitting (not double knitting) baby booties, hats, scarves, and I'm working on a baby blanket with a border right now. My sis wants me to make a "head wrap" and sent me a picture of one you could buy, but she can't wear acrylics or some natural wools. I may try bamboo - never tried that before.

    I prefer the figure 8 cast on because it looks similar to the cast off row. And its easier to tighten the cast on so you don't need to to finish with a crochet hook.
