It is like a surprise each month and then I don't have to stress over how much I should be putting into my own grocery order. It is a great idea, in my opinion.
I am not surprised to be honest, I mean it is a business after all and yes, a lot of the items in a package are cheap but that being said, never in my life would I have tried any of the things in the Russian box and some of it was actually really awesome! (Yes, I ate it all already including the strange fish sticks thing...) If I was to spend the same amount on snacks from my regular grocery order, I would be getting more stuff, but then I would just get more fat! hahaha. I have had a few boxes from a few different countries already and some of it was really good and some of it was just kinda blah. It is part of the fun of the entire concept.
Before you started doing these videos, did you have to run it by your employer to see if it was OK to do something like this? Also, what do you do for fun when your not working? How many hours do you work per day and do you get paid for only the hours you work or do you get paid for the entire 24 hours since your stuck out on that island and can't leave just in case of an insurgency? You have a very cool job but it's also a difficult one at the same time because you can't leave and are very limited on things to do. How do you deal with that?
I started TH-cam first, just to document my journey but as I got larger as a channel, I did run it by several of my superiors within the CC, just to let them know what I am doing. For fun I build model cars. I have another TH-cam channel for that called Scale Auto Garage. I just like cars. Essentially you get paid a salary for your 7 days a week of work. Some days you have more tasks than other days and so sometimes you work more, sometimes you work less. The most important part of it is ensuring the weather is done every three hours. As long as that is done then everything else you do you do at your own pace. I find for myself, I have a lot to do each day and actually end up running out of time a lot of the time. Kinda wish I had more to be honest. lol.
While I am fairly well versed in religion, I don't regularly read the bible and I try and keep religion out of my videos on TH-cam just for the sake of viewers. There are other channels out there that focus on religion and religious teachings. Mine is more about Lighthouses and how they operate. You have to buy your own food. Once a month you get a food delivery and we buy our Groceries online and have them delivered to the Coast Guard base. Then they are brought from the base to our station by Helicopter.
