The neutrality of Side 6 never made sense to me given that was a unilateral declaration of Independence from the Eartg Federation and neither side really ever acknowledged that fact at any point in the entire franchise.
The hands their hands full fighting eaxh other and ticking off side 6 to join the other side would have been disastrous.

From what I've seen the Colonies already had some degree of independence (i.e. Side Six having a currency)
hear we see the start of Bright throwing hand and just being a baller. we all love the pilots but Bright is just great.

My two favorite suits without a doubt are the Alex and the Gundam ground type. The Alex especially for being the next step in the RX series evolution while maintaining a relatively simple design.

I've always been curious about the beam sabers. I feel like they were thought up independent from lightsabers, but happened to share the same origin point of the honorable samurai blade that lead to the lightsaber.
Also the fact that mobile suits and prototype designs can be readied in MONTHS is still bonkers to me
It's like war here in the real world, weapons and technology can be made/prototyped and mass produced in a few weeks to months, but that same process will take years during times of peace, some projects are famous for taking a decade or more like the f-35 that started out as development in 1995, and was fully accepted into service in 2022/2023 where it was noted as being slightly more than 10 years late.
When you throw all your nation's resources into making war, any kind of production is possible, look at America during WW2. Production in all respects, especially for the colonies seems to be the main trade. Just the nature of being a space colony, they've got to be good and making what they need. Other industries and expertise lending their efforts to the cause, a tractor company producing tanks instead for example. That's why in WW1, population centers became targets, because that's where the stuff was being made and coming from.
As for speed from design to prototype, again with everyone putting in the effort to make war, anything's possible when it's do or die. Tactics change even faster, if the enemy plane is better, fly a new formation to counter it. Looking at some of the turn arounds in WW2 you see how quickly war advances things.

Yeah Gundam much like Star Wars has a ton of WW2 references, going by the German Paralles AH and the gang basically used a Corrupted form of both Darwin's Theory of Evolution and Neichze's Philosophy

I'm just getting back into to Gundam and that "they don't make Hathaway yet" line, has completely enchanted and terrified me for the OBVIOUSLY massive amount of things I've missed! Tbtf, even though I liked it, Gundam wing, and hellsing stole my attention after chars counter attack

I know you’ll never cover it cuz it’s way too long but I think you’d really enjoy Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (legend of the galactic heroes). It’s my favorite anime, an epic space opera that nothing I’ve ever seen has ever come close to topping in quality and depth of writing.

Loved this series. I noticed there are many scenes of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series but with a higher quality and animation, what is this from?
Probably the Origin I definitely have a soft spot for it and it fits in the cannon
So Origin looks like a few but I believe there were three OVA films for the One Year War to condense it down and is considered to be the canon of the One Year War.
Some were also taken from video game cut scenes

Don’t think he’s suffering from PTSD but definitely would say mental fatigue also the fact he’s taken a lot of life which for a teenager w/o any indoctrination is a lot. Imagine initially he’s going off just anger but killing someone even in war can take a toll.
My one little nitpick:
BCE and CE “before common era” and “common era” was not created by “atheists.” It originated from the 17th century by Johannes Kepler (a deeply religious man) to denote that the happenings of the common human being on earth had not ties to the divine.
Later CE and BCE were used in the 18th and 19th centuries by some scholars to denote the “Christian Era.”
But it’s modern contemporary use was mostly by Jewish academics and historians, simply because they didn’t want to use “Anno Domini” when writing dates in their papers, because, well… not their lord. *shrug*

7:04 u shouldn’t explain code fairy as it doesn’t line up canonically at all due to a lot of plot holes which would break lore in the universe. The Titania is lore breaking considering it was just a modified kampfer and also the kampfer can be disassembled to the point it can just look like junk which can easily bypass a lot lf traveling restrictions and can be safely transported to noisy fairy. Also the pixie light armor is lore breaking in its self we were told every pixie unit was coated with an unexplained beam stealth coating that hides it from enemy raders this coating is on every pixie gundam canonically meaning to have a pixie without it would instantly make the story alternative uc like thunderbolt gundam

7:14 a new type in short is a person with a high functioning brain and high awareness to the point they can see stuff before it happens with foresight or do other abilities like a psychic. Their brain waves ate high to the point they can use the psycom system which reads brainwaves like data and take command tho the process. Cyber new types are old types who were drugged to the point they’re brain is always at high function however this causes em to be unstable due to this not being natural and the human body not being able to sustain long periods of high function think of it as ur emotions and everything being highented so ur brain’s activity gives off higher ways to mimic the same or higher frequency of a new type’s brain waves. Yea this is real confusing explaining in detail what they are and the differences. Fun fact tho the psycom system can be used by a old type temporary if they somehow end up having this high tension and fury of emotions to the point their brainwaves can be read. 😂

I don’t see how a shield can help an MS enter atmosphere, outside it increase the surface area dna hence reduce terminal velocity
But you ain’t surviving if you free falling at terminal velocity in that metal. It don’t reduce friction on the rest of the suit because it will be surrounded by air. It’s not like a shield will remove the air.

Couple of things as food for thought:
Star Wars isn't sci fi, it's fantasy.
And Gundam isn't really influenced much by Star Wars at all... I mean, some I guess. Maybe. It began production like... Months after it came out in Japan, and already had some story basis.
Also, outside of laser swords, there is very little in common with Star Wars.
Newtype powers arent really like the force at that point at all...
If anything, the Force in Star Wars only begins manifesting powers like newtype abilities well after Gundam. So it's arguable Star Wars is more influenced by Gundam than the other way around, and I don't think it's influenced by it at all...
So, to summarize: there is likely no "DNA" of Star Wars in Gundam.
Edit: double checking a reference, planning for Gundam actually started BEFORE Star Wars released in Japan, according to an an interview collection "My Back Pages" from Ohta Publishing...
So yeah, I think the beam saber/light saber/laser sword thing is more coincidence or just used cause it's cool. Laser swords were already all over the place before Star Wars, especially in Japan, so... Yeah.

The similarity between beam saber and lightsaber is more likely the base idea of the katana, since Lucas used Seven Samurai and other media of its like for reference for the Jedi
actually there is some seriously explained details about newtypes. newtypes have limits to their powers most of which consists of controlling funnels through psycommu technology, speaking to the souls of other newtypes and heighten senses. a new type can push beyond these limits BUT at a serious cost which depending on how far they push their powers that cost could be memory lose all the way up to literally wiping themselves out of existence with the aid of psychoframes (Amuro and Char). however... the writters of unicorn decided to just do whatever the god damn hell they wanted to with newtypes and completely ignore any of this for the most wtf ending in a universal century story i have ever seen... all of this is based off how they portray newtypes throughout every story of the U.C. minus unicorn cause as good as that show is for the most part... no way in hell should it be considered canon... also as a side note.... the slap was because she was being hysterical and he did it to snap her out of it so she had a chance of living

1:02:10 the ground gundam’s performance isn’t equal to the gundam its only when it’s limiters are removed which causes it to overheat after a set amount of time. The ground gundam was a modified gm ground type its head was replaced with luna titanium and some hard points replaced with some Luna titanium this caused the suit performance to be boosted as it became lighter due to a massive amount of weight being reduced since luna titanium is far lighter than hard steel.

Amuro definitely had PTSD My stepfather served in the Marines for 30 years as a gunnery sergeant, he loves Gundam and one of his things about Armuro is that he definitely has PTSD. Especially later on. Like just because you only have a few symptoms of PTSD doesn't mean you don't have PTSD that's one of the worst takes I've ever heard of my life. That's like saying there's 20 symptoms of depression in a person only has three like you still have depression tf 😂
