48:31 Amuro is well on his way to PTSD at this point. Lack of sleep, constant hyper-vigilance, and combat related stress will all lead to him having it once the conflict is over. That is why it is P for POST, not I(mmediate)TSD. In this moment, I would call it more "shell shocked" or a cumulative stress reaction. My two favorite suits without a doubt are the Alex and the Gundam ground type. The Alex especially for being the next step in the RX series evolution while maintaining a relatively simple design.
The neutrality of Side 6 never made sense to me given that was a unilateral declaration of Independence from the Eartg Federation and neither side really ever acknowledged that fact at any point in the entire franchise.
The colonies all became defacto memberstates of the Federation instead of a colony (much like how the USA is a memberstate of the EFF) after Zeon declared independence. They are also a major financial center and buying up warbands of both sides.
The "Bright Slap" is a very common non-judicial punishment used by both Officers and NCOs in a lot of militaries around the world. Amuro is lucky that Bright didn't use Amuro's own helmet to deliver the slap; I've seen it done.
If I recall correctly, the Zeon's epithet for The RX-78-2 was "The White Devil", right? Given the damage Amuro did with it even just on his way to Jaburo, you can see why.
I'd be his little GM helper if I was in the same battle as him. Even if I would get blasted by Char or another enemy ace, I'd make sure that I had his six.
well at least 35 years later i can understand the gundam lore !!! MANY THX honestly , i know gundam toys, games, watch some tv shows but Never EVER have the full picture. and now i know and i love it. many many thx mr Big
I'm just getting back into to Gundam and that "they don't make Hathaway yet" line, has completely enchanted and terrified me for the OBVIOUSLY massive amount of things I've missed! Tbtf, even though I liked it, Gundam wing, and hellsing stole my attention after chars counter attack

My one little nitpick: BCE and CE “before common era” and “common era” was not created by “atheists.” It originated from the 17th century by Johannes Kepler (a deeply religious man) to denote that the happenings of the common human being on earth had not ties to the divine. Later CE and BCE were used in the 18th and 19th centuries by some scholars to denote the “Christian Era.” But it’s modern contemporary use was mostly by Jewish academics and historians, simply because they didn’t want to use “Anno Domini” when writing dates in their papers, because, well… not their lord. *shrug*
Slapping an E on doesn’t avoid religious implications. the year numeration still revolves around the same religious figurehead. Like a vegetarian calling chicken nuggets “organic nuggets” to feel better about partaking in something that’s so simple and convenient. What’s the implication with CE/BCE anyway? That Jesus being born heralded an era of commonness?
@ yeah basically. Christians conquered and colonized the world, and it’s the dominant calendar system that everyone uses. So if you’re not Christian and you don’t want to refer to the “year of our lord” or invoke a religious connotation, your choices are: Use a different term or just just use your own cultures year. For example, Jewish calendar it’s 5785. So it’s more like a vegan who uses a paraffin candle instead of a beeswax candle :)
@@tedjordan6179 but that’s the modern usage. Kepler’s whole thing was “it’s arrogant to call it the year of our lord! The earth isn’t holy! It’s mundane! We are common, it’s the common era! I've always been curious about the beam sabers. I feel like they were thought up independent from lightsabers, but happened to share the same origin point of the honorable samurai blade that lead to the lightsaber. Also the fact that mobile suits and prototype designs can be readied in MONTHS is still bonkers to me
It's like war here in the real world, weapons and technology can be made/prototyped and mass produced in a few weeks to months, but that same process will take years during times of peace, some projects are famous for taking a decade or more like the f-35 that started out as development in 1995, and was fully accepted into service in 2022/2023 where it was noted as being slightly more than 10 years late.
When you throw all your nation's resources into making war, any kind of production is possible, look at America during WW2. Production in all respects, especially for the colonies seems to be the main trade. Just the nature of being a space colony, they've got to be good and making what they need. Other industries and expertise lending their efforts to the cause, a tractor company producing tanks instead for example. That's why in WW1, population centers became targets, because that's where the stuff was being made and coming from. As for speed from design to prototype, again with everyone putting in the effort to make war, anything's possible when it's do or die. Tactics change even faster, if the enemy plane is better, fly a new formation to counter it. Looking at some of the turn arounds in WW2 you see how quickly war advances things.
Loved this series. I noticed there are many scenes of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series but with a higher quality and animation, what is this from?
So Origin looks like a few but I believe there were three OVA films for the One Year War to condense it down and is considered to be the canon of the One Year War.
Don’t think he’s suffering from PTSD but definitely would say mental fatigue also the fact he’s taken a lot of life which for a teenager w/o any indoctrination is a lot. Imagine initially he’s going off just anger but killing someone even in war can take a toll.

1:02:10 the ground gundam’s performance isn’t equal to the gundam its only when it’s limiters are removed which causes it to overheat after a set amount of time. The ground gundam was a modified gm ground type its head was replaced with luna titanium and some hard points replaced with some Luna titanium this caused the suit performance to be boosted as it became lighter due to a massive amount of weight being reduced since luna titanium is far lighter than hard steel.

Their brain waves ate high to the point they can use the psycom system which reads brainwaves like data and take command tho the process. Couple of things as food for thought: Star Wars isn't sci fi, it's fantasy. And Gundam isn't really influenced much by Star Wars at all... I mean, some I guess. Maybe. It began production like... Months after it came out in Japan, and already had some story basis. Also, outside of laser swords, there is very little in common with Star Wars. Newtype powers arent really like the force at that point at all... If anything, the Force in Star Wars only begins manifesting powers like newtype abilities well after Gundam. So it's arguable Star Wars is more influenced by Gundam than the other way around, and I don't think it's influenced by it at all... So, to summarize: there is likely no "DNA" of Star Wars in Gundam. Edit: double checking a reference, planning for Gundam actually started BEFORE Star Wars released in Japan, according to an an interview collection "My Back Pages" from Ohta Publishing... So yeah, I think the beam saber/light saber/laser sword thing is more coincidence or just used cause it's cool. Laser swords were already all over the place before Star Wars, especially in Japan, so... Yeah. No relation. Good video so far otherwise, though
The similarity between beam saber and lightsaber is more likely the base idea of the katana, since Lucas used Seven Samurai and other media of its like for reference for the Jedi
I don’t see how a shield can help an MS enter atmosphere, outside it increase the surface area dna hence reduce terminal velocity But you ain’t surviving if you free falling at terminal velocity in that metal. It don’t reduce friction on the rest of the suit because it will be surrounded by air. It’s not like a shield will remove the air.
it was PTSD... he was shot at multiple times as a mobile suit pilot and he's just a kid... also i think he got used to it... kinda like a veteran fighting a multi-year war
actually there is some seriously explained details about newtypes. newtypes have limits to their powers most of which consists of controlling funnels through psycommu technology, speaking to the souls of other newtypes and heighten senses. a new type can push beyond these limits BUT at a serious cost which depending on how far they push their powers that cost could be memory lose all the way up to literally wiping themselves out of existence with the aid of psychoframes (Amuro and Char). however... the writters of unicorn decided to just do whatever the god damn hell they wanted to with newtypes and completely ignore any of this for the most wtf ending in a universal century story i have ever seen... all of this is based off how they portray newtypes throughout every story of the U.C. minus unicorn cause as good as that show is for the most part... no way in hell should it be considered canon... also as a side note.... the slap was because she was being hysterical and he did it to snap her out of it so she had a chance of living
The Romans charted out the Gregorian calendar and they used A.D so we should too in respect of that. If modern scholars want to use C.E so much they should improve the most accurate calendar man kind has ever devised first. Then we can use it on this new calendar
Token Hate Comment: "No seriously. There's a problem with making Jesus Christ's Birth the Zeroth year. Because it's very offensive to All of the Faiths and Cultures that Missionaires and colonists from the Imperial Age destroyed and forced to Change their Faith to Christianity under threats of Violence. Christ was born in 4 B.C.E.. And his Sacrifice on the Cross does not excuse the New Sins of the Christian Figures that have committed even greater Sins against other Religious Minorities and Cultures that would make even the Pharisees and Rome balk, because the Sins of Christians made after Christ's sacrifice should NEVER Be forgiven" -A hypothetical WOKE Argument against BC-AD
Amuro definitely had PTSD My stepfather served in the Marines for 30 years as a gunnery sergeant, he loves Gundam and one of his things about Armuro is that he definitely has PTSD. Especially later on. Like just because you only have a few symptoms of PTSD doesn't mean you don't have PTSD that's one of the worst takes I've ever heard of my life. That's like saying there's 20 symptoms of depression in a person only has three like you still have depression tf 😂
Your story should have ended with "and everyone clapped." Was he involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Qaeda and has over 300 confirmed kills? Was he trained in "gorilla" warfare?
Amuro most definitely has early PTSD, or would have developed it as more and more time passed. He's a teenager fighting in an active war and has killed dozens-hundreds of people. If he didn't have PTSD he'd be branded as a sociopath.
@BigMicahC I'm a tank and plane nerd so this stuff always sounds weird to me another confusing thing was then calling the 60 mm in the Gundams head Vulcans my mind immediately goes to the m61 when I hear that also the backfire of playing way too much War Thunder

@bartsquared1398 there'll always be another Amuro, but damn near every series attempts and most times fail to make another Char.

The neutrality of Side 6 never made sense to me given that was a unilateral declaration of Independence from the Eartg Federation and neither side really ever acknowledged that fact at any point in the entire franchise.
The hands their hands full fighting eaxh other and ticking off side 6 to join the other side would have been disastrous.

From what I've seen the Colonies already had some degree of independence (i.e. Side Six having a currency)

it was PTSD... he was shot at multiple times as a mobile suit pilot and he's just a kid... also i think he got used to it... kinda like a veteran fighting a multi-year war
That's not PTSD. Don't devalue the term please.
@@BigMicahC I think you have a skewed view on what PTSD really is ... BUT I do agree Bright's slap was the right decision at the time sadly
Lost my shit at the hello kitty part
The only thing they fear is you
I believe in the one year war
actually there is some seriously explained details about newtypes. newtypes have limits to their powers most of which consists of controlling funnels through psycommu technology, speaking to the souls of other newtypes and heighten senses. a new type can push beyond these limits BUT at a serious cost which depending on how far they push their powers that cost could be memory lose all the way up to literally wiping themselves out of existence with the aid of psychoframes (Amuro and Char). however... the writters of unicorn decided to just do whatever the god damn hell they wanted to with newtypes and completely ignore any of this for the most wtf ending in a universal century story i have ever seen... all of this is based off how they portray newtypes throughout every story of the U.C. minus unicorn cause as good as that show is for the most part... no way in hell should it be considered canon... also as a side note.... the slap was because she was being hysterical and he did it to snap her out of it so she had a chance of living
Can’t wait for part three
39:00 I can't help but imagine Garma as bi.
The Romans charted out the Gregorian calendar and they used A.D so we should too in respect of that. If modern scholars want to use C.E so much they should improve the most accurate calendar man kind has ever devised first. Then we can use it on this new calendar
Token Hate Comment:
"No seriously.
And his Sacrifice on the Cross does not excuse the New Sins of the Christian Figures that have committed even greater Sins against other Religious Minorities and Cultures that would make even the Pharisees and Rome balk, because the Sins of Christians made after Christ's sacrifice should NEVER Be forgiven"

Your story should have ended with "and everyone clapped."
Was he involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Qaeda and has over 300 confirmed kills? Was he trained in "gorilla" warfare?
@@BigMicahCI love gorillas!
What is a newtype? I don't know, but I'm down with Char, and I'm down for life yo.
Amuro most definitely has early PTSD, or would have developed it as more and more time passed. He's a teenager fighting in an active war and has killed dozens-hundreds of people.
If he didn't have PTSD he'd be branded as a sociopath.
So many experiments Gundams…As well as Gms…
at least the gm's were easy to work on
@@nineballmk2 Gms are everywhere…
Lest we forget that Amuro literally tried to blow up Char with a booby trap on Axis.

58:09 that's not a machine gun that's a fucking autocannon the calibers in this setting confuse me
It's science fiction dude. Not worth getting super autistic about the naming conventions.
@BigMicahC I'm a tank and plane nerd so this stuff always sounds weird to me another confusing thing was then calling the 60 mm in the Gundams head Vulcans my mind immediately goes to the m61 when I hear that also the backfire of playing way too much War Thunder
