Great idea. I always wondered about this. These go for $5 each normally here in the US, except for Dollar Tree which sells them for… $1. Lol. They do fill up fast but also, I always feel crummy using up & throwing away all that plastic 👎 I know it’s an old video, but glad someone showed how to reuse these! So in order to do that you need a full opening. Am i missing something? And can the salt be the finer table salt or must it be the rough de-icing one?
Hi did it actually work in getting of mold and mold spores and protect possessions as I have mold in my bedroom and I use dehumifers and damp traps and thinkin I should save money as buying new dehumifers when they run out cost money

do these dehumidifiers pull the moisture from furniture also? just by being in the bedroom? i imagine a small amount cause they do reduce humidity in the room. Or the mold from furniture needs separate attention?

Very good tip. I just just bought one of these pots yesterday for the first time. Last year, I just used a plastic container with salt in by my kitchen window, which is very good at absorbing moisture. The only thing is the salt gets damp pretty quick, so it might not work as long as the crystals.😊

Road ice melting flakes by the sack is also cheaper than Damp Rid and faster than salt, if you can get it, is so worth it and lasts a long, long time between refills and traps a lot of water. I do use and reuse the same kind of containers as shown in the video for my closets and a very large one in my garage and works perfect.
@@paolahuezo9918 Even though it has a natural base Ii can be corrosive so I use some kind of neutralizer along with plenty of water to dump it,, like baking soda ashes, vinegar mixed diluted with water.
This looks fab, must try them in our wardrobe. Really sorry to hear about your damp problem. We live in an old house in Wales and use a large electric dehumidifier when the heating is on, especially if we're drying clothes. If you can dry your clothes and run a dehumidifier all in the same room then apparently it's as effective and cheaper than a tumble dryer. Another thing we found worth buying is a window vacuum - they're not very cheap but do a great job of taking condensation off your windows, tiles, bath and shower glass which would normally dry up and condense somewhere else. Also opening windows for 10mins in morning will help dehumidify bedrooms after a good nights sleep, loses a little heat but can help provided air outside isn't humid. Hope the damp problem improves and your kiddies are fine. Best of luck and thanks again
@@twiztwiz9717 I opened a small hole on the white thing..the pink cap is easy to remove so try lifting carefully the white plastic thing carefully...it's really easy to do so you will be fine and it definitely works.
*IF you add a few grains of uncooked rice it will stop the salt becoming hard too quickly, as loose salt is best for drawing out the moisture in the air and it basically means more moisture and less changing the salt, it does work with or without the rice though*

I bought one three weeks ago and put it by a cold window that gets condensation. So far its collected absolutely nothing. I also have a pot with just plain salt that collects moisture very well.
Hi is salt effective in killing mold and the spores and can I use salt as in ordinary table salt in the dehumifers I have I have intertior dehumifers kingfisher ones and scented dehumifers and I use mini moisture traps and wardrobe dehumifers also buying more dehumifers cost money as I wanted to save money and not have to keep buying more dehumifers

But let me tell you peel the whole thing of wash out and dry with kitchen roll then get a cheap big of cat litter £2.50 works out cheaper than salt dry it all put tray back in pop litter on top can use a bit of salt. Then put kitchen roll sheet on top cut round to neaten and bingo save you as she said pounds fantastic in wardrobes cupboards and window ledges under beds any were really backs just by breathing we create condensation in the night get cracking and save money 😉
Hi pet, you can if you want the hassle you can recrystallise the calcium chloride hydrate form the solution you poured down the sink. It is a hassle but doable.

you remove the plastic grid on the top (it just unclips) you need to put a small hole or slightly peel the fabric cover from the tub. The liquid is hidden under a shelf type piece inside but does not stop the water coming back up from the bottom when tipped. Just tip the tub over the sink/basin and the water should run out from the holes in the self that allowed the water to go to the bottom when becoming trapped from the air. Hope this helps xx
The liquid you remove is a great weed killer too. So you are saving again gardening is important to you. WARNING. It stays in the soil for a long time and kills all plants.

Crystal kitty litter for $9 gets you like 15 or 20 pounds of the original stuff. Pulls moisture out of the air at about twice the rate of salt.
Jason Rogers is grit salt any better than table salt? I have loads of grit salt I use on the drive way.

BAKING SODA WILL & IT WILL WORK A LOT FAST, BUT WILL NEED MORE OF IT. IT IS FINE & ABSORBS LOTS & GETS HARD QUICK WHEN THE AIR IS DRY.
so throw it out asap ...replace with new.

Baking soda won't pick up water but it can pick up bad smells from the air.
