Ed's Auto Parts in Clovis NM hooked us up splendidly!!! I was axle swapped and on the road by noon the next day. Video soon! Thanks again to all the PBG family that reached out and came through for me and Zeppy!!
I had an axle bearing on a Pontiac go out on me in a road trip in 1989. My wife (girlfriend at the time) bought a 1967 Lemans that she'd only had for a month. We were going from Seattle to Denver for her brother's wedding. Every now and then I could feel what I thought was the engine cutting out. Turns out it was the right rear brake grabbing because of the bad axle bearing. We had to pull over in Chugwater, Wyoming to loosen the brake adjuster and limp the car to Cheyenne. We parked at an auto parts store around midnight and slept in the car to wait for them to open. Luckily, they had the bearing, but they didn't have a press. I ended up carrying the axle over my shoulder across town and back to a machine shop to press on the new bearing in 100-degree weather in August. We made it to the wedding on time and she still has the car 35 years later. It's "some assembly required" at the moment, but it's still here.

Change all O-rings on AC hoses, put in new dryer, should comes with rings. Pull vacume before adding more gas/freon. Wait for about hour, see if gauge holds, fill & enjoy.
Amazing . My first car was a gold 79 Thunderbird I bought off my grandma after my grandpa passed way. Mine was also a AZ car . My grandparents lived in Tucson. This video makes me miss my car and wish I never got rid of it .
That 79 Thunderbird is a dream car. Done up right, 35 mpg. Ford gas shocks and good quality higher performance tires and the handling is terrific. Adding a dual 2¼ exhaust with H cross over and Dynaflow mufflers adds 20 hp and about 5 mpg. I have driven a 79 Thunderbird a thousand miles between an early breakfast and a late dinner. No aches, no pains. A truly delightful long distance companion.
@@PoleBarnGarage I have had a pair of 79 and a pair of 78 Thunderbirds. I love them. For me, the only downside is the weight of the doors. So, eventually I may get an LTD II Brougham or Cougar Brougham sedan and do it up my way. Same car as a Thunderbird on a 3 inch longer wheelbase.

hey dalton, big fan here. so my grandpa passed away recently and he was really into cars. he distilled his love for cars onto me and my brother and every time i watch videos like yours im gonna think about him. thanks for making these quality videos thatll always make me remember him.
22:20 “All US citizens?”
“Oh yeah”
“Have a good day now”
“Adios!” 😂😂😂 I’m dead
That had to be Texas, right? I've never seen that, but admittedly, I don't do as much state to state driving as some of you folks out there.

@@Rossfab Really? Interesting. Thanks!
WTF were they gonna say if you werent citizens? Maybe you shoulda said you were NOT US citizens and you guys might have all gotten new phones and some money.
@@warrenmichael918or, what's more realistic, get deported on the spot
Thank God, I’ve seen all the videos circling around this one and finally this one good to see you
Could not have said it better myself about the cowboy!
You have one of the best mechanic journey man in the industry. Next time I rebuild something I need to hire him for a few weeks.
Great to see an old (Thunder Chicken) still on the road.
I had a friend who had a mid 90's Super Coupe T Bird.
The steering wheel and other places where emblazoned with the SC lettering.
I dubbed it "Super Chicken" and it stuck.
Preemptively liked, will watch later and wake up the neighbors laughing at Dalton's misfortune.
Dalton when you whacked that gas pump I died. I too can’t stand those damn things and it was so satisfying to see someone else react the same way. Great video as always.
Change all O-rings on AC hoses, put in new dryer, should comes with rings. Pull vacume before adding more gas/freon. Wait for about hour, see if gauge holds, fill & enjoy.
A post from Dalton always makes me happy
Made my day and that was as gonna take a lot ! Always happy to see the pole!
Once again bringing home something I would love to have.
Amazing . My first car was a gold 79 Thunderbird I bought off my grandma after my grandpa passed way. Mine was also a AZ car . My grandparents lived in Tucson. This video makes me miss my car and wish I never got rid of it .
I love the '77-'79 T-birds, though I have absolutely no friggen idea why.
You and Travis are the only channels I can watch, I do an occasional pine hollow
Hell yes!! I'm just watching your boogie van fixing episode! Now time to watch a new adventure lol
Perfectly good car. It's just that it's...a 79 Thunderbird
"Worst thunderbird ever" forgets the 2000s 11th gen exists
The early 80s Birds were even worse. 1980-1982(?)
@@JRC99One of those comments you wish you could give multiple likes too
He would love those, because they are basically a Jaguar. And we know he loves a Jag.
If you hit the second button down on the left, it stop playing ads at the gas pump. Works that way in Florida anyway
The sub and wheel lights really made it a “T bird” 😎
These were some of the best automobiles ever made -- especially considering the conditions they had to be manufactured. I hope you take that, and the fact that this is such an excellent specimen into consideration... and pass this car along to someone who can appreciate it for the beautiful piece of Americana that it is. There are only so many of these old girls left, I sincerely hope you treat this fine example with the respect and love it needs. A very unique and wonderful automobile. If you truly are a car enthusiast, you will do this.
That pontiac wagon is cool as hell
That Pontiac Ambulance! If I ever get a wagon it will HAVEto be one of those! Fantastic.
I love the Scary Halloween Creaking Passenger side door!
I remember that ambulance. Hot rod power tour this year I saw and bumped into them here and there throughout the week with Kevin and mook etc.
