I like these narrative puzzle platformsrs. I was a bit disappointed w/ Somerville though. That one was a bit too buggy for me on the PS unfortunately. It broke the immersion. This looks like a smoother experience.
It's difficult times for people trying to inject politics into every aspect of their game. Indie devs and small studios that just focus on making a good game are thriving.
Any game that takes me to a different planet is my cup of tea, the genre does not even matter. Love the whimsical look of this too, will look forward to trying this when i can! Thanks for the review!
You had me at "Cat Companion"... I've got a real life one that follows me everywhere (though she rarely does what I tell her!) What a gorgeous looking game, leapt straight up my wishlist! Just as I was making a dent in the backlog...sigh...
After a long anxiety inducing day it’s always nice to come home and sit down and see you have a new video. It always eases my mind. You guys are the best.
I’ll definitely add this to my watch list. I’d buy it right away, but my backlog is so huge I’ve sworn that in future I have to finish 2 games, before I can buy another one.
Soon as you mentioned reference to The Last Guardian it's flat out become an instant buy, The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus will forever more be cemented in my soul as the greatest games ever conceived, you've stoked a fire no other game could ever rekindle, I thankyou immensely for this review, this is definitely a game for me 🤩 what a joyous day today has become
This looks f***ing gorgeous and right up my alley, will be getting this week most def. I hope it gets a physical release at some point. Thanks for bringing to my attention as well as to the development team. Amazing stuff
Played Planet of Lana on PC Game Pass and I absolutely loved it. I'm glad it's coming to other consoles because I need to experience this journey again on a bigger screen. The art style is gorgeous and the story is so touching. Definitely recommend if you're into puzzle platformers or just want to play a relaxing, sometimes challenging game with a cinema-quality story.
I played this on GamePass a while ago, and while I didn't encounter the same bug you found I do remember running into a bug that required me to reload a save because it halted my progress. I can't remember exactly what it was. I think it was an enemy that didn't spawn or something like that. Otherwise a smooth experience. I pretty much agree with everything in your review. Unrelated to this game, my dog is named Lana.
I didn't really know about Planet of Lana until I saw it on Saturday's video but this review got my interest. Love the aesthetics of the game and the relaxing vibes of the gameplay and music. I'll wait for a sale though.
Thank you for all the reviews you do. You're one of the best review channels, and I appreciate your thorough analyses of all of the games...especially indie games!
You guys are absolutely masters at making relatable reviews. You do it with intelligence, wit, and without the cornball TH-cam cartoonish culture invading the video. Top, top notch.
Love the look (and definitely the sound) of this one. I personally look at shortness of game as a positive these days because of so many responsibilities and lack of play time. Although I would wait until it's under £10 for a 4 hour game. It's going in the wishlist with the rest of them.
When I first saw this game in your previous video it seemed like a normal platformer. But now after seeing it more deeply it actually looks and feels a lot like Another World and a little bit of Flashback. I guess I must be the only one remembering those, funny thing the HD version of those ageless games are available on the switch too.
Finally the Switch gets an epic cel-shaded adventure with physics, puzzles, climbing, cave exploration, ancient spider-like robots, and boulders falling from the sky. As for the characters speaking pseudo-language instead of real words, I think it's a refreshing innovation.
Definitely has Studio Ghibli vibes. Especially that little black companion. But at the same time it could take place in the Star Wars universe. Just look at that sarlacc 4:45
Very beautiful and interesting game. The alien setting that seems to be the subject of a robotic alien invasion makes me think of Planet Alpha. Unfortunately it seems the language they use in there, while used consistently, is only a very simplistic conlang. Unfortunate, they could have done so much better with such a setting. Still, I'm definitely putting it on my wishlist.
It's a really beautiful game but I am exhausted of side scrollers. I really like that this one is so bright and full of life! Not dark like many others.
I pre-ordered this as soon as I saw it! Great review, looking forward to playing it. My 4yo daughter has now discovered my switch and we’ve been playing Mario wonder co-op, need some more suitable suggestions, Mark I know you must have a few!
I'm kinda getting 'Limbo' vibes from the gameplay, though that atmosphere is 100% different. It looks like a fun game, though I'm curious about the replay value as it looks like a game I might play through once, enjoy, and then never play a second time due to the linear nature of the game.
I absolutely love my studio Ghibli stuff. Love the princess mononoke vibes in botw. Not enough games hit that vibe, you have my attention planet of Lana.
I think my problem with this game/review is I don't really get what makes this game standout from other more well known games in the genre, e.g. Limbo or Inside. It looks fairly generic but the review didn't really emphasize how this differs through gameplay or narrative beyond a surface level description of these. Maybe its not the review, maybe its just that the game is pretty but does nothing unique, but I don't get a feel for it either way based on whats being said here.
this game is hated by "video game journalist" because of it's unusual gameplay, this is not your usual platformer, you're a helpless kid in a dangerous world and your objective is survive, you should watch the environment and the creatures to make a decision that will decide your life or death
Adaptation, not "adaption." To adapt --> An adaptation To orient --> An orientation. Saying "adaption" is like saying "oriention." Saying "orientate" is like saying "adaptate." And yes, I know the dictionary includes the words "adaption" and "orientate." People fail to understand that a dictionary is not an authority on what words are legitimate or correct; it is a book of what words mean and how they are used by living people. Therefore, if many people make the same error so that it becomes commonplace, it is added to the dictionary whether it is correct or not.
A really beautiful looking game - do you enjoy this type of game? Cmon now it has an alien cat in it, what is not to like! Mark
I like these narrative puzzle platformsrs. I was a bit disappointed w/ Somerville though. That one was a bit too buggy for me on the PS unfortunately. It broke the immersion. This looks like a smoother experience.
Do you know if there will be a physical release
-Didn't they screw up the shadows on this version???.....
Comment baiting for the algorithm is not to like.
Commenting for channel, video, studio and game visibilty, everyone deserves support in this difficult time in the games industry. Cheers SwitchUp!
Legend! Mark
It's difficult times for people trying to inject politics into every aspect of their game. Indie devs and small studios that just focus on making a good game are thriving.
Agree
One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen , reminds me of inside
Any game that takes me to a different planet is my cup of tea, the genre does not even matter.
Love the whimsical look of this too, will look forward to trying this when i can! Thanks for the review!
Thanks mate, you're welcome! Mark
Wow, it looks and sounds amazing! And that little cat ball thing…I just want it! Thanks for the review, very interesting game!
hehe my daughter would agree! Mark
I can confirm it is amazing
So it's Limbo in colour! Sweet!

You had me at "Cat Companion"... I've got a real life one that follows me everywhere (though she rarely does what I tell her!) What a gorgeous looking game, leapt straight up my wishlist!
Just as I was making a dent in the backlog...sigh...
Exactly right haha love me a cat! Mark
That foliage rustling in the summer breeze, against an alien invasion backdrop. From the perspective of an innocent little village girl. Magical.
After a long anxiety inducing day it’s always nice to come home and sit down and see you have a new video. It always eases my mind. You guys are the best.
❤
I’ll definitely add this to my watch list. I’d buy it right away, but my backlog is so huge I’ve sworn that in future I have to finish 2 games, before I can buy another one.
This one instantly piqued my interest on Glen’s preview vid, it looks beautiful! Doing quite well on metacritic too 😊
I really dig this animation/art style... and the 2.5D design really adds to the cinematic feel, and it kinda reminds me of something like flashback.
A man of a similar vintage, I would have said Another World :)

Saw the trailer, this game sounds amazing, waited 2 years for it.
Its a sign of a great game if you are fully immersed when playing it. 😋
Definitely
I’ve just downloaded this today. Bit of a tough time for me at the moment and my switch has become a real comfort. Can’t wait to start it

Reminds me of a modern inspired version of ‘Out of this World’ (Another World) from back in 1991. Looks great.
Man that game was tough back in the day ha! Mark
This .
I thought exactly of Another World.
Reminds me of ‘Limbo’ & ‘A Boy and His Blob’.
Yeah for sure it is basically a combo of those two. Mark
I didn't really know about Planet of Lana until I saw it on Saturday's video but this review got my interest. Love the aesthetics of the game and the relaxing vibes of the gameplay and music. I'll wait for a sale though.

This looks pretty nice! Charming art style 😊
I’d love to see some upcoming games you’re excited for. I took a look at Surmount the other day and it looks like it could be a real treat!
Love the look (and definitely the sound) of this one. I personally look at shortness of game as a positive these days because of so many responsibilities and lack of play time. Although I would wait until it's under £10 for a 4 hour game. It's going in the wishlist with the rest of them.
I'm an hour or so in. Think you've been quite critical on the scoring front if the start is anything to go by. Giving me big Inside vibes
This game first reminded me of Flashback. Probably has more to do with the color palette.
When I first saw this game in your previous video it seemed like a normal platformer. Wow, seems like a real good game - creative, charming, etc all you want from an indie gam
(commenting for algorithm bcs it deserves it)
To the wishlist it goes! I think I will wait for a bigger sale. Thanks for the review.
Look great, what a genuine review man!
Thank you Sara! Mark

BOTW/TOTK?
@@benjaminerne Yes, but Planet of Lana will be new to everyone except the few people who have seen Zelda games.
Played on xbox last year. Nice little experience.
Definitely going on my wish list
Definitely has Studio Ghibli vibes. Especially that little black companion. But at the same time it could take place in the Star Wars universe. Just look at that sarlacc 4:45
Enjoy all of your content!
Thanks mate
Reminds me of Out of This World. Even has the same art style almost.
Prince of Persia had more fluid jumping motions in 1989.
Looks great. I will probably buy when it’s on a deeper discount.
The music sounds well impressive...probably not my cup of tea gameplay wise BUT I see the appeal.
Actually now I’ve heard some of the sound it reminds me a little of ICO which I first played on PS3 maybe 4 I forget now. Also a brilliant game

I'm stoked to play this game!! Hopefully soon
Wow she’s a looker for sure
That looks really nice! Shortish games are valid
It's a really beautiful game but I am exhausted of side scrollers. I really like that this one is so bright and full of life! Not dark like many others.
That looks Beautiful Mark sadly platformers are not for me because I have Dyspraxia sadly
Looks fantastic! Definitely getting this, thanks!
Looks great, add it to my loooooonnnnng backlist of games.
Moving art work masterpiece. Definitely giving this one a go
looks to have an ICO-ish feel to it, so I'll have to get it eventually
Nice!! Looks different from the basic platformer.
Length?? Always length is good, experience just gives it the extra wow lol!! 😂😂
If there’s one game I wish you guys had a free copy to give away!! 😂
I pre-ordered this as soon as I saw it! Great review, looking forward to playing it. My 4yo daughter has now discovered my switch and we’ve been playing Mario wonder co-op, need some more suitable suggestions, Mark I know you must have a few!
Snufkin Melody of moonville valley on the Nintendo switch is a great choice for what you are looking for
@@incognito4354 thanks! I’ll have a look at it
@@incognito4354 This
This game is one of the most beautiful experiences of my whole gaming life. You will not regret playing it!
This game reminds me of an old ps1 game heart of darkness. But you had me at cat companion 😍
Idk why but right here 8:07 it sounds like Hunger Games music
Prince of persia set in a Ghibli world....does it for me 👍
Looks great and have put it on my wish list... Far too many games yet to play 😂
Yep this looks awesome. Will be getting my support. ❤
Looks like a really fun game. Got a bit of Flashback and Heart of Darkness vibes
This looks excellent. I’ll add it to the list. Might go for the Steam version, though.
Ok you sold me on my list, also can you review grounded
I loved this game even though it wasn't as good as inside i still found planet of lana enjoyable 😊
Looks great but I just blew almost a hundred bucks in the last sale and Endless Ocean is coming out soon so this is a sale and add to the backlog.
Looks like the classic game Flashback
It's giving me Another World vibes (old farts like me should know what I mean).
Yeah for sure feels like a more polished , modern version in many ways. Mark
The game looks adorable but I'd be too worried that something bad would happen to the little cat-thing.
I'm kinda getting 'Limbo' vibes from the gameplay, though that atmosphere is 100% different. It looks like a fun game, though I'm curious about the replay value as it looks like a game I might play through once, enjoy, and then never play a second time due to the linear nature of the game.
I pre-purchase this game on its still shots alone
That's Another World!
Looks interesting. Thanks for the review.
Will there be a physical copy of this
I am glad you enjoyed the game.
I don't mind a "Planet Alpha/Limbo/Inside/Aspire/Toby"-style puzzle runner, but they're becoming a bit "samy"...
Looks good, looking forward to it.
Game looks great. I do like stylish games.
How about girth?
I am told the visuals on the switch version are a notable step down from the ps5, despite this being a fairly stylized game.
I absolutely love my studio Ghibli stuff. Love the princess mononoke vibes in botw. Not enough games hit that vibe, you have my attention planet of Lana.
Looks good!

This might end up being an impulse purchase for sure.
So many of mine started that way haha
Its like littlewood
hahahahah
size 7GB is big :D
Beat it in Xbox it’s a solid 9.5/10
I like play limbo and inside. Is this kind of that game?
Yup
Looks like a great game but also looks similar to a game on iOS called INSIDE.
I keep wondering if I’m gonna win today I mean I like the content in the channel but it will be nice to win one of your gift one day
Very cool game
Why would I pay for this When it's free On game pass ?
It looks like chatgpt created it.
Another one of these games.
this game is hated by "video game journalist" because of it's unusual gameplay, this is not your usual platformer, you're a helpless kid in a dangerous world and your objective is survive, you should watch the environment and the creatures to make a decision that will decide your life or death
It literally has quotes from game journalists at the start of this vid. Odd comment
Basically a INSIDE-like by much much much much much much inferior.
Do you always say good thing for the game that pay you?
Edgy boi
Another boring ass side scrolling jumpy game
