Been playing for the last few hours and for day 1 early release it’s insane how playable this is on the deck. Yeah there’s dips to 20’s but in honesty you don’t feel it as much. With a few updates this’ll be a solid 30 in no time. Especially with fsr3
@@paulovlobatoThat suggestion is meant to offset latency for mouse and keyboard controls. Using a gamepad means your input is already not the snappiest, so putting a lower framerate into FSR 3 shouldn't feel like total shit, hopefully.
Since it actually runs somewhat decent on the steam deck on day 1, I think within a couple months with some patches and updates it’ll most likely get verified and be perfectly playable
Thanks for the head up, great insight, I think I will wait for them to patch things up before diving in on the SteamDeck, since Phantom Liberty is around the corner I think I most probably will dive back into Night city first and wait for Valve and Bethesda to optimized things out~

Weird deck startup issue I had for Starfield (saw the video and posting before watching) where it would black screen on start up. I just kept tapping the screen after pressing play and it got past the black screen. Hope that helps someone like it did me. I posted this on the Steam forums but...well that is being swamped by trolls so I don't know if anyone will see my comment on Steam.
Are you on 3.5 and proton experimental? People have been mentioning that the pad didn't work on the startup screen and they had to use touch controls to confirm, so that's probably what you are experiencing. Black screen + touch screen start up
(Edit: they released a patch addressing this issue from Valve) I would assume so, I'm using latest stable branch that went live at 2000 yesterday and Proton Experimental. Any idea why the screen goes black on startup then crashing if I don't tap the screen? I could see where it would be an issue with controllers not being picked up, but it will crash after roughly 30-40 seconds (only on startup, game runs fine). I have only been able to get in by tapping and it will have two white dots and a black screen if I don't. Weirdest thing and it makes people think the worst of the deck. I tried to help a dude login to the game using my method last night and he kept tapping after it already got to the black screen (I tap till I know I'm past that initial splash) so I couldn't verify if what I was doing was making a difference or....

Bethesda need to get their shiii together. This is such bad optimization Yeah, the game looks good but it shouldn't warrant such poor results on lower end system req PCs. again dont buy the game expecting locked 30 fps at all times, for me I think the game is playable but that might not be the case for you.
As someone who doesn't care too much about low frame rates I'm going to get it. Will probably get mods to make it a bit better.
Both the game developers and valve will probably bring patches before the launch date (non-early access).
