My dad was a JD mechanic for 38 years. He said he had a customer call one time many years ago and the guy said the motor would run but nothing else. He figured it out pretty quick that the shaft you pulled out the back broke so the pump wasn't turning. Had to split the tractor to get the rest of the shaft out. Once he got that done he ordered 2 shafts for both of our tractors and we changed them out so we wouldn't have that happen to us. Lol. Great video. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Cool story! I've never had one of the shafts to fail but I'm pretty sure this one was pretty close to it. I actually ordered all the parts to put it back together today. Hopefully we will start reassembling next week. Thank you for watching and I hope you consider subscribing to our channel if you haven't already.

@@DylanJoyceFarms I did today. Really like your videos and equipment. I have 4240 and 4440 so I like the older stuff. Good luck with the rest of your job on the 4640.

That reminds me of ag class. Had a 4430 in there getting a new clutch. Fun lol.

Have a 2955, it came with lots of hydraulic oil pouring out the bell housing. My Mennonite friend and I split and replaced the clutch, ground ground down the flywheel, replaced seals. Put it back together, it leaked, split it again, back together it leaked! The shaft is good bearings we're replaced. Now thinking of gutting more, with replacement parts. Tractor has 7,200hrs parts don't look worn. Any suggestions?

I know this is a silly question but ya'll are putting the gasket in between the clutch housing and transmission?

Great video. Some of those grain bin painters are thieves, got to be careful with them.

We have had 4 to come by this winter. Everyone of them with the same story about they've been painting for somebody in the community. Call and talk to that person and they've never heard of the painter lol. Pretty sure if he was running a legit business he would have some business cards.

@@DylanJoyceFarms I’m always missing something I should’ve seen. We used to farm in Haywood County. Still have a shed full of the good tractors.

When I was working on the farm I had a salesman stop by when I was in the middle of greasing the plow. I stopped what I was doing and shook his hand with my greasy hand. I did the old two hand grab then watched him try to not put his hand in his pocket.
