Really like your videos!! I didn’t see you put the (washer) R26919) in. Which would make hi- lo shift sluggish. Also didn’t see the R51159 (washer) installed. Not saying they weren’t. Also couldn’t see the pto brake pad, which I think you got to get piston assembly RE20725, That keeps shaft from turning. JD parts are hard to look up but way better than the off breed.
We did have the packings in but you were right we did have to install a pro brake pad. This was my first experience and a learning one for sure. But we have her running good now.
I'm not quite sure yet since it's the first time I've used it. It was actually pretty nice when we got to the final adjustments. We just had to keep an eye on it as we pushed it towards the tractor. I would have hated to move it if they didn't swivel.
I have just pulled the 2 speed out of my 4240 using your videos as a reference (Great Job!). The font side of my planetary seemed loose similar to the way yours was. Do you know what caused it to be that way? Was your new used one loose as well? Mine has no friction material left at all I am hoping that is the reason it is loose.

Nice video. What caused this failure ? material fatigue/material quality ? lubrication? thank you
Horsepower and 7000 hours
Informative video. On the splitting stand, are you satisfied with the swiveling wheels, or would you recommend that they not swivel?

We ended up rebuilding the used one. Once it was rebuilt it still had a little play but nothing like before.
