I've said in many review video. This Saga is the best Saga Proton have produced at such price point. The new latest version I mean. Some may say it was FLX but the enhancement have a lot of sweat and tears behind it. This car is not for performance but for practical daily use, it can satisfy almost all demand. Solid platform from Savvy, ride and handling, the improved new Gbox from Aisin(that have slight mileage improvement). Long haul drive is comfortable, fuel economy not better than Bezza but in overall driving leisure, Saga do not make body ache (honest words from some Grab drivers) for long hours drive and more stable at high speed.. Reliability is improved, easy mechanical means easy fix, high sales means parts aplenty and cheap to maintain. This proton own developed car, not Geely. So the parts are mostly by local mufacturers. You can keep this car for long. Proton legendary aircond.. Honestly I so move wanting it and actually booked a saga for myself but later on cancel it because I suppose to get a 7 seater better. I have one as daily. All is good, however the NVH is quite bad for a long distance highway drive at 120km/h. Can be tiring mentally. Probably with some aftermarket soundproofing installation will reduce NVH
@@hakimrahman85 bro, try the under carriage rubber coating first. Get 2 can and spray it under the wheel arch. This is cheap try out than sticking sound proof and it is heavy. So a can not more than RM 20, get 2 cans for 4 corners. You need to DIY remove wheels for better coverage. It also can be due to some tires brand with poor rolling noise after certain age.
Grab driver here with an Axia E. Even in town driving I feel like dying due to the seats. Whereas saga vvt grab drivers still got energy left after a full day of driving 200++ km.

Recently rented a saga at my desaru, Johor trip. Fuel rm30 can move for 200km with automatic transmission. Overall my experience with Saga is great
For something no frills, I guess u can't beat this saga at its price point. This is probably the last "people's car" produced by Proton for the masses as they slowly transit to the Geely partnership phase. Enjoy while it last. Wished we had such affordable cars in singapore too
It's no longer a Getrac gearbox now. It is a Shuanglin Gearbox now, previously owned by Geely.
Which one is better ? Getrag or shuanglin ?

A clever young people will buy saga or bezza. It's the best and worth it car to own when you just starting a career. I know many will say just ride bikes it is way cheaper which is totally true. But I prefer to stay dry when I'm going out during rain.
Don't buy those expensive sporty cars. You must consider THE AMOUNT OF MONEY you will spend for a long time. Road tax, insurance, maintenance and repair. No matter how expensive your car is, YOU WILL NEED TO PAY FOR THESE, THE MORE EXPENSIVE YOUR CAR IS THE MORE EXPENSIVE IT CAN GET. Think wisely.
SAGA MC2 has upgraded it's manual gearbox from getrag to china zhizhou.However, the gear 5 @ high speed (120kmh) @3500rpm still consider high, better than blm mt, but still same as flx mt , preve mt gear 5@120kmh@3000rpm which is more comfortable during highway cruising.
And how about the other ratios? Would you say that the new one is better or the old one?

I've rented both the pre facelift and first facelift 3rd gen Saga and I must say it's a night and day difference between them two, especially in terms of quality and the transmission performance. I can even imagine that the second facelift is even better and that it's an amazing whip for dailying it around, especially as a manual. Sadly I couldn't get my hands on a manual, but if I get the chance to drive one the next time I come to Malaysia, I surely would go for it and film a third review on a Proton Saga. One thing I have to point out on the Proton Saga is the superb sound quality of its two-speaker setup. It puts cars with a 6-speaker setup into shame! Yes it might not be fuel efficient, but with the manual I'm sure it can get decent mileage with a tank and that it drives really well on the road with sucking up bumps and humps with ease. Great video bro and I'm looking forward to watch more videos from you about Malaysian cars 🙌🏻.
Because of the relatively small price differential, most rentals won't go for manual anymore. Besides, you rental a manual car to a fella who can't drive manual... you are charging less and risking the cost of high repair bills with burnt clutches. Haha.

Go for used Proton Iriz manual, less than 20k. Handling is much fantastic. I owned it since 2014. Still love to drive.
Planning to get one either Iriz 1.6 2015 Premium model or 2019 1.6 Standard, both in manual. Right now driving my late dad’s 2009 Exora in auto.

I m using saga model 2021 manual cbu here in Pakistan.... believe me what a machine this is...drive handling owsome.wish I could have facelift version of saga facelift version in Pakistan I will buy straight away...😊
iirc saga blm manual gearbox are supplied by akashi kikai which is the same supplier for perodua manual gearbox.
My sister recently purchased the Saga MC1 standard manual and in terms of handling and performance, it was top notch. A lot of flairs, not so powerful but just pleasant enough for manoeuvring efficiency. Very practical for daily in and out.
I just recently purchased another Saga MC2 AT because I no longer be able to use my left leg due to accident. And the performance AT has is lacking compared to MT. But the effortless manoeuvre traits is still there, similar to the standard MT.

@@KonWaiLuen it's almost 1 year with this mod... car still running smoothly, the lowest fc i got is 22km/l@80km/h. another thing i do to make this car more fun is lightweight wheel with heavy duty absorber. EO using Millers oil 😋
I add throttle controller plug and play to my 2017 vvt saga mt. It feels more responsive.
The base variants of the A segment sedan contenders, the Saga 1.3 Standard and Bezza 1.0. It's no question which is the far superior option. I'm not sure why would you even want a 1.0 sedan, when the base Saga has similar equipment but more power.
Yes, the primary drawback of the CamPro derived VVT is fuel efficiency. But I drove a 1.0 Bezza recently, it's not undrivable, but you often need a lot of throttle input to keep up with traffic. I don't think fuel savings is worth the trade off here.
I haven't even talked about driving experience, we know Proton will have an edge here. I actually think the Bezza is fine in this regard.

wanted to get a manual, but since it was for daily use i went for premium S. A little regret but nevertheless what an amazing 1.3L. proton is always a proton, those DNA of best ride and handling, the stability, and hitting that campro engine with 2000rpm and above, i dont get fed up everytime i drive, what a joy of cruising alone..its just indescribable. always feel proud to be a proton fanboy. it maybe slow when below 2000rpm but going beyond that is where u get the real experiance. and for this range and price point, its the best. cheapest comes with best driving experiance.
I just hope Proton gives us a much better equipped manul version of the Saga in terms of safety. Just add to it's safety features like TC, VSC or ESC and Hill-Hold Assist and just let it be. I mean straight up standardise the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) across the range. I understand the need to keep the price low which means this will be unlikely to happen. People buy it or not just let the manual version stay in the market forever. I own a Saga LMST (manual) and bought my parents a 2018 Standard CVT Saga VVT.
I have a feeling that proton no longer cares about saga, Iriz and persona vvt.
Proton no longer update this 3 cars like they did in 2019 and 2021. I remember back on the old days of proton, proton love to released different variant for their Cars by adding more cosmetic and features.

It's what happens as a result of managerial incompetence and corruption so extreme they literally bankrupted a conpany that had every market advantage over it's competitors. Guess what happens when your national car company gets colonized by a foreign corporation?

@@arx117 100% . The new saga iriz persona are locally made with chance of hybrid for iriz persona. For Saga there's a chance of geely revamping the campro 1.3 vvt

The getrag box is too rubbery and soft when i viewed one before purchasing mc1 premium. Currently still considering to get the MC2 manual as the china box is definitely feels better (non road test just row through the gear at stock yard). If only this still has a footrest like savvy, i would just buy it.
I still prefer the steering weight on flx than mc1.
Yes, this was another thing I neglected to mention. Lack of a footrest was a bit of a bother.
Use it for my grab ,maintenance is much cheaper,the 3rd gear is wow

1. why you need to buy a car?
2. How do you want to use it? For daily work, for 2nd car, weekend car? Always carry ppl or stuff?
3. Are your prepare to visit workshop once a while?
4. What is you budget range and which car brand/model you have preference?
From here only Kon can narrow down or recommend.

Yeah, Waja still then superior car, but it's one segment up.

@xorlux campro has better top end power, but Mitsubishi engine has stronger mid range and more efficient on fuel. Reliability wise, they are both comparable if well maintained
Am I the only one noticed that the rear bumper is slightly discolored with the rest of the car
Normal for proton, in some angles the color seem mismatched but then you look it straight and it looks alright lol. The red and jet grey have the same issue as well

I would say, go for the Persona.
Seconded with Kon, if you can live without split folding rear seat on Persona MC1 manual (Standard only), you may go for it with advantage of ESC and HPF body structure available on Persona.
The persona is more about power, handling, and safety. You will get more fun with saga with its short shifter&short wheelbase. The saga also has better quality in terms of electronic system. I have seen a lot of persona has failed power windows, don't forget about the radiator that likely to rust. However you can replace the radiator with aftermarket one.
@@l.k.y.6929 Hi sorry for late reply, my friend's 2019 Persona always have power window issue, sometime cannot come up the passenger side is fine, just the driver side has a lot of issue.

My dad has a 2005 honda city
First 10 years always did oil and transmission fluid change at Honda
Then after that always did maintenance at local workshop who is run by ex honda technicians
Nvr had any issues
Only that after 17 years the flywheel starting to weaken and belt probably stretched slightly
The foreman said it just has initial signs of wearing out but nth major at the moment
Recommended to change the transmission in few years time
Car still kicking fine

How dare you overtake an Alfa Romeo 155 with a Saga 1.3? That could be either a 1.8 with 140bhp or 2.0 with 150bhp. The 155 was a BTCC championship winner of 1994. Give Alfa some face lah😅
