Loved the video! It is like the videos that you used to do a couple of years ago when I started following your vlog. Those videos were one of the reasons that I started vlogging to begin with. Please make more like this, they are very interesting!
Meant to tell you that the footage inside the Temple during Jingle Cruise was the best I have seen so far. The contrast and color were really good and could see much more in the dark. Thanks.
And capacitors can hold a charge even when there are no batteries are present. Not saying how I know but your first guess would guess probably be right,
this was awesome!! i learned a lot!!! kudos to you, every time I try to operate on a camera, it's pretty much the end of its life! I wanna make one now :)
Now you got yourself a "all light" camera. You can play around by taking pictures in sunlight, with different external filters, like UV and even filters that will only allow IR or UV through. You can get some crazy effects with that.
very interesting, went right over my head, you lost me at , unscrew back, but enjoyed it. That bit near the end when you showed us the camera working in night vision, as you opened bedroom door, was so like a ghost hunters show we get over here. They investigate old houses, and scream alot, its a reality show, not a drama.
So I just tried this with our Nikon Coolpix S3600. It was very simple to take apart, didn't even need to unhook the cable ribbons. It still seems to work fine and can see the infrared lights now. Only took me about 20 minutes. Our is only a 720p camera but it will work fine for us. Thanks so much for posting this!! Now to make or buy an infrared flashlight.
I've done this with a few cameras now to convert them to infrared camers and the glass you're removing is an infrared pass filter, so if you replace this glass with an infrared filter you then have a camera that will do infrared.
Just at the end when your wife asked if you needed the lights to make it night visiable, you said yes but thats not true-ish, it should still pick up any IR emitting object, like a BODY! I was hoping you'd point it at either of your faces, would love to have seen how well it would work like that. Very Cool, I did not know those cameras has an IR filter, gonna dig up an old one and try your experiment!
Tim! Awesome damn project. Thanks for the vid and the share. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm wanting to build a unit which I can use on my rifle scope for night ratting. This is easier than most other tutorials I've seen. Tx
Where did you get the screwdriver set from and what kind/name is it ?. I am looking for similar for tiny screws. I have a 4 set here but still not small enough. Also Tim, where did you get those infared lights from ? and do they reach a long distance ?, many thanks.
Tip: Some smart phones don't have an IR filter. Another idea for IR light is a black reptile heat bulb. Not the most ideal light source but it does work.
Great stash! I really appreciate you showing us how easy it really is to have night vision for only a few bucks. Now I've had night vision products over the years since about 2005. And I have tried a few different setups. Now with that said , please people be careful. Night vision is not all that it seems. As soon as you turn it on you give away position. You light up like a Christmas tree and you just turned on a very powerful flashlight and anyone else with NV will see you coming a kilometer away. You need a passive way to see in the dark. Thermal binoculars give off no infrared light and they operate on the principle of temperature. Anything that radiates any type of thermal signature can be passively monitored. You can see them long before they see you. When I go out at night to practice locating a target I use a small unidirectional and a homemade parabolic microphones. Sound is very tricky at night especially around heavy rock and water. By practising a little it won't take long for you to become highly proficient at night time range finding and location. That's how I do it and keeping my couple of friends sharp so when the time comes they too can protect their families and get the hell out of Dodge before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Cry Freedom!
Tim I enjoy watching videos where your fixing things, there was a older vlogg where you were at a rental home at the beach and you fixed the washer, i admire you ability to fix things, i try to fix stuff around my house but usually just cause more problems :/ wahh wahh wahhhh
this was great video i learn lots it going to help me hopeful film stuff better at sports events and concert that go to with my family and friends so thank you Tim.
I know this is an old video but any chance you can remember the exact model of this camera? I've tried it with my old compact cam and the IR filter was completely built in so I couldn't remove it
Question for you - cane you do a cheep modded DIY night vishion camera that works from emitted infrared light instead uf having to yuse an attacht infrared light sorce? You know, the type that shows up aminals from therr body heat? Of coarse, a camera that did both would be best of boast wolds, but probalby would no be a cheep DIY.
lol mustache straight outta the wild west
I keep thinking about the super troopers mustache ride scene lol.
You guys are such a good team! Tim's got the know how but every time I was lost jenn asked the exact question I needed. Loved this vid!!!

I feel like most people should not be messing with this. you are on a level above the rest of us Tim.
Hehe, I say if you have an old camera you are ok with breaking I say go for it! That's the way I learned.
never know when your going to need to use this bit of information. oh wait... zombie apocalypse.
very interesting, went right over my head, you lost me at , unscrew back, but enjoyed it.

That was a pretty sweet diy. I'm gonna try that with an old canon ca,era that I have. Hope it works out as well as yours.
Good luck!
and great job on the reassembly !!! i gotta use precision tweezers and jewellers head light for what you did. good job.

Omg your moustache is freaking awesome

Tim just preformed camera heart surgery!!! Doctor Tim...
First like again! Love u guys! Thanks for the awesome videos!
Excellent work!
so can it still be used normaly in the day?
Nice vid. I usually use various size tweezers; careful of the sharp tweezer edges of course, to help with difficult ribbon cables like those.
question: the filter. is one side more preferred ?
Tim is high as hell in this video :D
Stay smooth pimpin bruh
Tim what were you like as a kid? Did you pull things apart and put back together? I did good just getting the carry strap put on my camera.
+Michael McIntyre I guess some people have a higher brain capacity than a 5 year old... Not you.
how do i put a very Bright Diode Inside of the camera replacing the small light on the camera and possibly add a switch to turn the ir ight on?
was wondering what model cannon you used in the video
Is that mustache REAL!? lol thanks for the vid. :) very educational.
after remove the infrared filter can it still operate in day light?
Tim what is the model of this camera? U use
Cool Tim! You can have ghost adventures now. :D
ryley. you should change your name to baiter.
thats actually a good idea
the video with the night vision reminded me of one of those ghost hunting shows lol
for getting the large ribbon cable back in you can attach a peice of tape and the pull it into the holder, if that makes sense :P
Excellent camera configuration. Loved the Vlog Have a great day :)
Thank you!
Very cool :) Now to tear apart all my old cameras.... :D
Wow,you are really good at what you are doing.
Thank you!
Where did you get those IR lights from? Were they homemade?
this was great video i learn lots it going to help me hopeful film stuff better at sports events and concert that go to with my family and friends so thank you Tim.

Brand name and model wil do ☺
Where can I find DIY video for making the Infra Red LED lights? .... Like the one used here ...Please do let me know. Thanks.

You are welcome!
How about converting the flash into infrared lighting?
Great stash bro!

+SeaWorld Parks Rock 4 there regular vlogs. Not the night vision 1. Thanks anyway:)
Canon G7X
TheTimTracker Oh thank you!
Wow!..Very cool indeed..Wish I were that smart!
Could you use the camera outside looking up at the sky at night? Could you see anything without the infrared lights?
How did you learn that you had to remove the infrared sensor?
Question for you - cane you do a cheep modded DIY night vishion camera that works from emitted infrared light instead uf having to yuse an attacht infrared light sorce?
