If nothing else, I enjoy how this film looked. It had a trashy eighties rock and roll atmosphere that made it pretty fun. Story wise, it’s like a cross between some Outer Limits episode and Rumble Fish.
I loved this movie i remember watching it when i was in Jr. High, right after it was released on VHS, God of that doesn't show my age. 😅 I so miss the practical effects from the 80s and early 90s. Everything now a days is done in CGI and in some things it's done very well but there are other things that would be done way better if done practically. That's one of the best things about Terrifier 2.
Full Disclosure: i loved this series growing up (1 & 2) and i remembered them through my teens- in the 90s -and would alway think about it when watching USA Up All Night.
Yeah if not for Stephen Geoffreys I probably would have overlooked this film but I was already a fan of his from Fright Night and Fraternity Vacation. He was such a cute little iconic 80s nerd and he nailed this role perfectly. Sadly would be his last good movie before he went on to doing gay porn to support his heroin habit.
I had a small crush on him. There was a boy that lived a few houses down from me that looked so much like him. God some times i really miss being a teenager but i don't think i would want to do now a days, glad i grew up in 80s and 90s
The only problem is that we don’t really have 976 numbers anymore, so I think a younger audience might struggle to get it. 976-evil actually does fine as a low budget B horror flick.
Younger audiences might not understand it since the 976 numbers are defunct, it might work if it takes place during it's time just with updated effects or remake it loosely based on it and call it something else but honestly they should just leave it alone, it's a product of it's time
I remember going to see this movie on 42nd street back in the day with my brother and cousin. Great job Robert England directing 976 Evil love the plot and characters need a possible reboot.
One of my favorite horror films that is super nostalgic to me. It just brings me right back to middle school which was the time I was in when this movie was released. Stephen Geoffreys will go down in history as one of the greatest iconic quirky nerds of the 80s. I recently met the actor who played 'Marcus' in this movie, he had a lot of interesting things to say about the making of it. He told me Stephen Geoffreys is as weird and awkward in real life as he is in his movies.
I was in jr high when this came out also and had small crush on Stephen Geoffreys, don't ask me why, i guess i was ahead of time that nerds were considered cute. Lol
I loved this movie as a kid it’s in my personal Top 10 I remember catching this on a Saturday afternoon when I was like 6 I dnt see why they don’t remake this in a modern way
I don't know I'm usually against remakes and reboots but seeing that this was not a blockbuster which is what Hollywood tends to try and remake it might actually come out good
I Love 80's horror , reminds me of a time when I would peruse the aisles as a teen for the goriest flick I could find for a sleep over with my bestie. Damn , we must have watched hundreds of them together. Good times Watching 976-EVIL right now
anyone remember a movie, or character/ actor you loved and find imdb to see what they went on to do? Man, the trajectory of Stephen Geoffreys' career was way out of left field from the campy, fun kid of the 80s
I remember watching this late one night when i was a little kid. Dont even know how old i was. It was disturbing but i still had fun watching it and i think it may have been one of the first gory horror movies i had seen. I gotta give it to whatever channel aired it because they didnt really edit it that much.
JoBlo Horror Originals, "They Live !" (1988) is lauded sky-high & rightly so. But standing shoulder to shoulder with John Carpenter's masterpiece is a movie released the same year, but underseen, underappreciated, & underrated much unjustly. It's "Remote Control"(1988) with Kevin Dillon & Deborah Goodrich. Its subject is the same as "They Live" Invading 👽 controlling the mind, but from another perspective, that of the audio-visual technological devices, namely the TV videotapes. The 1990 novel "Rune" by Christopher Fowler describes such a plot. There's also a 1993 TV movie that had completely disappeared unfortunately, "Night Owl" with Jennifer Beals. It's an adaptation of Ulysses' Legend of The Siren's Song that drive men to their doom. Back to "Remote Control" Let's just say that it's "They Live" meets "Rising Sun" (yes the one with Sean Connery)
Hell yes! I was wearing my shirt from this movie the other day & someone on the train complimented it. (Dk if they actually know the movie or just like the design but I'll take it)
Oops. That blond girl is in Freddys dead. How did you miss that especially if you looked at IMDB? You know. The only reason she got the part in FD is because Robert used her for 976.
In 1988 or 89, I obsessively called the 900 # for Nightmare on Elm Street (speaking of Robert Englund) and accrued an *astronomical* bill. My father was less than happy about this and far scarier than Freddy...I got to keep most of my fingers at least.👏
I love this movie except for the couple kind of not flowing well couple minute clips of the guy and the woman answering the phone, but it's kind of to clue one in on the plot I guess [I could have lived without those two unkown people phone answering], but the rest of the movie is great and those parts seem just thrown together clunky.
Haven’t watched it yet but it’s on tv tonight, looked at the rotten tomatoes review and it gets a terrible score, however having watched multiple high scoring RT films I have finally realised they are an absolute load of ‘paid form’ bollocks so will come back after watching and give my real life score 😏
The weakest part of the movie for me was the ending. The writer isn't sure if he wants to save or kill hoax, so he kind of does both in a half-assed way.
This movie freaked me out as a kid. Every 80’s kid remembers those 976 numbers from the 80’s. Good watch for sure.
Despite lacking the budget, this movie is absolutely phenomenal, as well so fun and dark. Love it!
If nothing else, I enjoy how this film looked. It had a trashy eighties rock and roll atmosphere that made it pretty fun.
Story wise, it’s like a cross between some Outer Limits episode and Rumble Fish.
this movie to me will always be a classic and kickass horror.

I really enjoy this movie. The directors commentary with Englund and his wife made me like it even more.
I have soft spot for this 80's film.
'Stephen Geoffrey's' is my most memorable character in this. (Loved him in Fright Night/Choir Boys)

Robert Englund should remake this movie the way he originally intended. Now with streaming services, this movie would certainly find an audience.
Absolutely! I don’t usually care for remakes but this one could be great. Either way I still love the original.
The only problem is that we don’t really have 976 numbers anymore, so I think a younger audience might struggle to get it. 976-evil actually does fine as a low budget B horror flick.
@@elosoguapo8137 The “ 976” aspect is the only that would need to be tweaked or modernized. But other than that, A remake could absolutely work.
Younger audiences might not understand it since the 976 numbers are defunct, it might work if it takes place during it's time just with updated effects or remake it loosely based on it and call it something else but honestly they should just leave it alone, it's a product of it's time
Couldn’t agree more with you here.
I remember going to see this movie on 42nd street back in the day with my brother and cousin. Great job Robert England directing 976 Evil love the plot and characters need a possible reboot.
This movie is criminally underrated.
Robert englund did a fantastic job on directing this 80's hidden gem horror movie. 😀👍
You read my mind here.

@@gothgirl4evr414 I could see why, he was definitely one adorable little nerd.
@@wendaltvedt4673 hahaha exactly
Easily one of my guilty pleasures back in the day. Low budget or not, I love this movie through and through.
Cheesy nostalgia. I loved seeing it in the video shop for the first time and again watching it years later
Back when you could go to the video store and get spooked out just by looking at the vhs box art for horror films.
Saw this on Fearnet (channel on Comcast) in the mid 2000s. I randomly thinking about it from time to time
I loved this movie as a kid it’s in my personal Top 10 I remember catching this on a Saturday afternoon when I was like 6 I dnt see why they don’t remake this in a modern way

No remake necessary, nerdy girl.
i watched this the other night, i really loved it. especially the frozen set at the end.
I Love 80's horror , reminds me of a time when I would peruse the aisles as a teen for the goriest flick I could find for a sleep over with my bestie. Damn , we must have watched hundreds of them together.
Good times
Watching 976-EVIL right now
*1 of my most favorite movies on the planet*
Nostalgia

The boglin commercial you showed at the beginning really took me back
This should be on any 80s horror fan's watchlist. It's a real B movie thru & thru.
Let's not forget the awesome Deftones song based on the film.

Yes
I liked this movie haven't seen part 2 yet.
Loved this film and the sequel 🤟💀💀💀💀
A VHS classic.
This was good, but I really love the sequel. Especially the "It's a Wonderful Night of the Living Dead" sequence.
@@MrBoyYankee i
I haven't seen the sequel because it didn't have Stephen Geoffreys but maybe I'll give it a whirl.

In this role, Stephen Geoffreys was doing the 1950s-era Jack Nicholson thing!

Oh shit I should get a 976 - Evil shirt made.
I was a repeat renter of this at the video store
I'm gonna predict that the next black sheep will be an entry from the Leprechaun franchise since St Patrick's Day is next week
I miss those days.
🧹 Cleopatra∆ I finally can say after watching this movie back in 1999 :Do you want the power, yes I want the power ☠️
Great deep cut.

Evil Ed? From fright night
yep
Nightmare 4 was never a finished screenplay, that’s almost entirely R. HARLIN
(ROFL)We live in a age where if there's a terrible 80's movie I can even only vaguely remember there's someone on youtube who has already reviewed it.
I don't ever remember 976... I remember 900, 800, 888, and some others.. I think even 700. Never 976
What was that space vampires movie I feel I need to watch that
Lifeforce by Tobe Hooper. Its fantastic and ridiculous.
@@shadowofthestatue thank youu much
Life force !!! One of the guiltiest of pleasure!! You will love it!!!! Please go to Netflix and watch it my dear!!
This movie may be far from perfect, but it has its charms. Also, it is one of those who reminds me of simpler times.
Yes!
Favorite dark movie. I wouldn't call it horror. Horror is cheap. This has good fabric.
