I'm 37, my husband who was born in 2970 hasn't EVER seen Dr. Giggles. I couldn't even believe him. It's a film I watched muktipke times because it was just so crazy haha. I am now going to make him watch this. Thanks for the upload!
I am really glad this film didn't get a sequel. Not because it was a bad film, but because it was a great standalone slasher flick that didn't need a sequel!
I remember watching this movie on HBO late night as young teen it was awesome. I had forgotten about it thank you for bringing it back to mind. I'm definitely going to find it and re-watch it.
I had it on VHS back in the days. One of my favourite slashers ever. Never cared about the genre that much. The boys "birth" scene will always be one of my favourites. Oh, and it didn't have a cheap final "return from the dead" to appear at hospital scene. Literally a fried up bastard turned up and got ripped apart. That's quality filmmaking.
I met Holly Marie Combs last year at a Convention. Unfortunately she didn't have anything from Dr.Giggles to sign but she did thank me for liking it & her performance in it
Watched it for the first time about a year ago and loved it. It's definitely aware of all the movies that led up to it and I LOVED it, the puns were amazing. Need to go back to remember more of the 1 liners.
I was lucky to watch a copy from my local video rental. Some time later Dr.Giggles came on the index and it was almost impossible to watch it. There was a extreme cut version sometimes runnning late night on German tv. I had to wait 30 years until it came off the idex again and finally uncut. I loved this movie from my first watch and i had to wait, im not joking, 30yrs for my second time. Proud owner of the BluRay today. Dr. Giggles is criminally underrated.
I remember where Dr Giggles Sr hid his son (spoiler warning, it was his dead wife's belly)...that was one of the most fucked-up, yet hilarious scenes ever put to film! Plus, the late Larry Drake was awesome in the title role !
Man I remember seeing this with my dad when I was 6. Great memories, never found anyone else that knew about it. And it became lost until the internet came
I believe Dr. Giggles was the first horror movie I ever rented. I would’ve been in the second or third grade. The drill scene through the door keyhole always stood with me even though I didn’t remember the name of the movie for a long time.
When I was a kid my mom took me to blockbuster video to go rent some movies I picked out the Care Bears movie well when I got home I put the tape in the VCR Dr Giggles came on turns out they put the wrong tape in the box
5:49. I own these two issues of the Dark Horse adaptation. Interesting note. They used the working script for the story instead of the finished product. There are a few key differences with the story, mainly a few of the kills.
I remember being a kid and always seeing this at the rental store. I was never allowed to rent it though and the place closed down before I was old enough to rent it myself.
Holy shit, this is one of the movies that I haven’t seen since I was a kid but also haven’t seen it on any streaming platforms !! When I do, I’m definitely watching it
Dr.Giggles is probably the best comic book movie ever! jk.. lol I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid and the audience just laughed the whole way through. I'm surprised there weren't more Dark Horse comic adaptations done in the 90s, because it seemed like at the time anything could get made and since studios were starving for the next big thing, comics were a good source of adaptable material. Of course we have that now but back then it was definitely a missed opportunity.
I saw this movie when I was in Boy Scouts. We saw this on a Halloween sleepover in the basement of a church that the Scouts rented. We saw this, and Leprechaun. I think this made the Scout leaders nervous - as next year we rented Casper, Ernest Scared Stupid, and a Dana Carvy detective movie. Good times. I loved the gimicky doctor horror. I thought Larry Drake was such an impressive slasher, and made more of an impression on me than Jason, Freddy or Michael.
The advertising budget for this was massive I have hundreds of Marvel comics that have the poster printed on the back and every issue of Wizard had ads for it as well. Seriously ubiquitous. Ask any comic fan that has early 90s books. I promise they know the name even if they've never seen it.
I love Dr. Giggles and Larry Drake's performance but he was one of the things "wrong" with the movie timing-wise. He was still playing the character of Benny on L.A. Law at the time of Dr. Giggles and that was what most people knew him from. That put some people off from even giving the movie a chance and others just did not like him being the exact opposite of the character they loved on TV. He was playing Benny in L.A. Law already when he did Darkman but audiences seemed more willing to have him in that than as Dr. Giggles, which is a shame because he does a great job in the movie.
Idkwhy, butI feel like there is some Mandela effect stuff going on. I remember a sequel. With Judd Nelson actually. But maybe I'm confusing it for a different flick.
end of the slashers genre, not a bad movie, I love it, but it was the last of its kind, Scream sucks, always sucked, Wes Craven acts like it's his brain child but it is not at all, even if it was it is just a bunch of yuppies talking BS killing each other, I didn't care about any of them then, and none of the sequels made them matter, the best thing that came from Scream was Scary Movie 2.
“Heart condition, heart condition, okay, man up,” - whoa. Hold up. Next time maybe say, “heart condition? Yeah that’s a challenge, but don’t always use it to beat into the audience. Have a few dramatic scenes that give her a close to death vibe which gives her suspense for the end.” I also say cause Dude. Heart condition. Serious regardless lol
"And of course a prominent PC culture sanitised the gore, and made sure there wasn't a tit or man ass in sight." Oh god, this canard again. Yeah the 90s, the decade that gave us Basic Instinct and South Park killed the slasher movie with political correctness. Me bollix. Be honest, the slasher movie died out in the early 90s because the subgenre was creatively exhausted, again. The slew of slashers with mundane, all too mortal killers that came out after Friday the 13th, ran its course by 1983. A Nightmare on Elm Street reinvigorated the subgenre by introducing the supernatural element with an undead killer, and Jason, Michael, Chucky etc. all followed this. The dead teenager movie became more of a franchise thing than the cheap and cheerful one-offs from earlier in the decade with the emphasis more on novelty kills than T&A, and even this only lasted so long. When they start introducing relatives out of the woodwork- Freddy's mother and daughter, Michael's niece, you know they're running out of ideas for the same basic premise. Mainstream thrillers co-opting the slasher template with actual stars in them as opposed to no-name actors who never did anything else, like Fatal Attraction, The Silence of the Lambs, Basic Instinct, Pacific Heights, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Single White Female etc. just put the final nail in the coffin. The death of the slasher movie came from within because of a lack of ideas, not external pressure. It had its time and it ended.
Dr. Giggles was a ton of fun. I am glad people are talking about it. Let us hope more people find it.
I'm 37, my husband who was born in 2970 hasn't EVER seen Dr. Giggles. I couldn't even believe him. It's a film I watched muktipke times because it was just so crazy haha. I am now going to make him watch this. Thanks for the upload!
I meant 1970 😂
I am really glad this film didn't get a sequel. Not because it was a bad film, but because it was a great standalone slasher flick that didn't need a sequel!
Larry Drake can play both the nicest characters and most sinister characters. From "Tales from the Crypt" to "Darkman", Larry rocks
yeh, kinda like John Lithgow.
He was so sweet as Benny from LA Law and Bubba from Dark Night of the Scarecrow!!
Who knows? If this film proves anything, it’s that Larry Drake could’ve made a fantastic Joker.
I remember watching this movie on HBO late night as young teen it was awesome. I had forgotten about it thank you for bringing it back to mind. I'm definitely going to find it and re-watch it.
4K coming soon, I believe. Either way, enjoy, its still a damn fun time
I love Dr. Giggles!!! Underrated 90's gem!
This was one of my favorites when I was a kid!!! Love this movie! This was perfect for a young kid wanting to get into horror films.
Saw this in theaters. Never knew this wasn't a hit. Always loved it.
I had it on VHS back in the days. One of my favourite slashers ever. Never cared about the genre that much. The boys "birth" scene will always be one of my favourites. This and The Dentist is a good double feature.
Was about to say that myself, I remember when this came out was around the time of The Dentist and both felt like they were cut from the same cloth.
And a funny trivia is Larry Drake (Dr Giggles) and Corbin Bernsen (The Dentist) starred on the show L.A. Law.
I lost it when the narrator yelled "Oh sh*t!" I love this channel. LMAO
Dr Giggles is one of my favorites!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I was a kid my mom took me to blockbuster video to go rent some movies I picked out the Care Bears movie well when I got home I put the tape in the VCR Dr Giggles came on turns out they put the wrong tape in the box
I remember this movie freaking me out as a kid but years later just find it funny and a decent horror movie.
Rip mr larry drake 1950-2016, this was a crazy movie.
The guardian was also one of those movies nobody talks about I dont think anyone has done a review on it yet.

Larry Drake rocks!
Just found out about this movie by Morgan Lander when she was interviewed.
The singer/guitarist from Kittie right?
Wow Bubba from Dark Night of the Scarecrow
I remember being a kid and always seeing this at the rental store. I was never allowed to rent it though and the place closed down before I was old enough to rent it myself.
larry drakes nephew worked at a local bar in my home town , they looked similar ,it was pretty awesome .
Thank you for the amazing video !!
Our pleasure!
FYI, it's on Starz in the US as of now....
"Terminal" that was always my favourite 1 liner
Haven’t thought of this movie in years. 👍🏻
Holy shit, this is one of the movies that I haven’t seen since I was a kid but also haven’t seen it on any streaming platforms !! When I do, I’m definitely watching it
1992 the year I went to the US Army. Right out of high school, good times.
This is nuts. I watched Darkman and then you posted this
80's & 90's horror movies are still far better than any that have come after.
I remember the movie as a kid, something about it stuck with me.
Dr Giggles would be the type of villain you'd see in a Batman comic today....
A rental store fav
This was such a fun movie! Different from the haunting movie 'The Dentist' with fellow LA Law co-star: Corbin Bernsen
Out of curiosity, is Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 black sheep worthy?
Id say 3 or 4. Part 2 is more "Awfully Good" territory.
Dr.Giggles is probably the best comic book movie ever! jk.. lol I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid and the audience just laughed the whole way through. Manny Coto - how could you forget to mention his excellent and criminally underrated show "Odyssey 5"?
RIP to Manny Coto. Such a great movie.
This is a forgotten classic 👍
I fondly remember Dr Giggles. The movie i'm still waiting for is Sleepstalker.
I saw this movie when I was in Boy Scouts.
We saw this on a Halloween sleepover in the basement of a church that the Scouts rented. We saw this, and Leprechaun.

Has BRAINSCAN ever been spotlight on Black Sheep?
Good movie too.
Added to the list good sir!

Is this a reupload? I swear I’ve seen this one from y’all 🤔
I saw a great GoodBadFlicks review of this movie.
I remember seeing the commercials for this alot on tv,so the marketing was pretty good
Wtf was that film from the clip in the beginning with the ball that runs over the man and strips him of his skin?
Critter 2
@@JoBloHorrorOriginals what an interesting looking film lol
RIP Larry Drake

All Doctors should be as caring as Dr giggles ❤️💊🔪
Shits and giggles
i'm sure HMC wished she had her charmed power in this movie
This is a fun horror movie
I thought it had an 80's vibe cuz it was the early 90's everything kinda still had a left over 80's vibe then.
I remember this movie..I likec it..but I was like 16
He looks like divine
This movie creeped me out…just well casted for dr giggles
Dope
You should really do one on Halloween 6. I feel like it's way too hated.
Idkwhy, butI feel like there is some Mandela effect stuff going on. I remember a sequel. With Judd Nelson actually. But maybe I'm confusing it for a different flick.
Grunge didn't kill hair metal. HM just went legit for a while. Grunge didn't even make it out of the 90s.
Ya its good like maniac cop or the dentist
I was probably 8 when i saw this on tv... i was kinda traumatized for 2 weeks lol, the belly part was too much for my kid brain
Dr Giggles sounds like a strain of weed.
“Or Black Christmas for the Canadians”.
I think you mean horror fans. After all, no Black Christmas=no Halloween.
Hair metal sucked.
Mark from Rosanne is dead
How to blow music instrument hot . The dr puns go too far by end

No offense, but chucky was never cool.
Well....mark from Roseanne and Byrne are from Ireland, so .....who knows?
He reminds me of my ex-wife's gynecologist. A total cut up.
