  • This video provides a full tutorial on how to use hot melt glue to install and uninstall the Snyder Core System into arrows for bow hunting and archery.
The Snyder Core System features Iron Will broadheads with extended shanks that sit deeper inside micro diameter (.166 Inner Diameter) arrow shafts for extra strength and durability. The Snyder Core System is comprised of Iron Will broadheads, field points, HIT Inserts, and Impact Collars to create the toughest and most reliable front of arrow setup for bow hunters.

Bill, I think there is a common, unanswered question for many of us (including one other person below, I believe). When using hot melt glue, Why do you recommend glueing the Broadhead or field point in with the insert as a unit? I am assuming that you feel the bond is inadequate otherwise and as a result the insert might pull out of the shaft when retrieving an arrow from the target. Please let us know.
Personally, I strongly prefer to use a foam target that allows my shaft to penetrate through but stop before the fletching hits the foam. Then, I remove the actual Broadhead before pulling the arrow. This technique is especially important when using single bevel broad heads. The challenge with my method is that almost nobody makes targets of that type any more. I have a small inventory of those targets and I think they are all about 15 years old. They actually last longer as Broadhead targets than anything else I've used.

Thank you for the video! Also I really enjoyed listening to the recent Episode 259 of East Meets West. I've been using epoxy for my builds, however I'm going to start experimenting with this Hot Melt. Picking up a heat gun from Home Depot today!

I take soldering iron and set it to the exact melting point of the glue plus a few degrees to preference and insert the shaft over a soldering tip wich fits the insert snugly. Wait till it reaches temp and plunge it in using the soldering iron very carefully to start it and then screw in the broadhead to finish it. Works well.

This method can be used for .204 standard HITS and 4mm/.165/.166 Deep Six HIT Systems also.

Which is preferred hot melt or epoxy? I like the thought of epoxy but am worried about it setting up and no being aligned

Bill, is there an advantage one way or the other to doing it this way versus just gluing in the Insert using your tool? that is what I have been doing so that I can go back and forth between field points and various broad heads that you sell as I try and figure out what I like the best. Thanks in advance.

What do you do if you need to adjust the alignment of the broadhead?

If the Hot Melt is still malleable you can rotate the Broadhead clockwise to alignment. If the Hot Melt is set you can either use boiling water or a heat gun (do not over heat) to soften the Hot Melt and then align the Broadhead. Always rotate your Broadhead clockwise making sure you are tightening and not loosening the Broadhead from the insert.

Are glueing on the impact collar?

    • @IronWillOutfitters

No, it is not always necessary. If there are .002 or more space between he arrow shaft and Impact Collar you can void that space with our Hot Melt.
