The vanes are actually called Mini Sabres. But they are the second on the Sabre Series so close enough. Thanks MFJJ! Great build. I love the RIP TKOs.

Back in 1987-8ish I would "float" arrows in the tub to find the "heavy" side, then weigh fletching and put heavier ones on that side, heavier knocks on heaviest arrows, heaviest insert etc, back then shooting a Jennings forked lightening at 70lb for a whopping 218fps. Thanks for this video. It brought back awesome memories, stay safe, and God bless

Thanks for sharing your method - it is a smart way of matching light and heavy components in order to stay within a desired standard deviation. I especially like to see a person conserving their resources, despite having an ample supply. You did so by saving the extra glue for other projects. It's not being cheap - it's being thrifty. Good luck on the antelope.

I also square my inserts after install and use a marked insert tool so my broadheads are clocked to my fletches and spine. I had one set of insert weights that was really inconsistent so i just put a grinding wheel in my dremel and tapped the back end a few times to tighten them up. I've also used aluminum tape on the lighted nock batteries or inside the insert to match a set, but I'm CDO like that. Since I'm building all the time, I have a set of bins marked 0-9. I drop the component in the bin ending in that tenth grain as i weigh. I bumped the table 1 too many times.😂

20:43 "Don't ever heat the arrow"
20:54 Proceeds to stick carbon right over heat gun.
Old habits are hard to break. Haha. Thanks for the video, Josh. I do the same process, but I don't use hot melt because I like to index my inserts/outserts with the broadhead selected for that arrow. I shoot fixed blades, so I index my broadheads to be perpendicular to the arrow rest. I also like to spin them before I commit to the arrow. Using JB Weld gives me the time to spin the insert around and index the broadhead before the epoxy sets.

Thanks for this video! One thing some of us need is a video on how to determine the length for the arrows (i.e. should we test length with our bow, does it need to already be tuned, do we need the broadhead on, how "close" should we cut it to get the weight down/foc up, etc).

Love it! I do this method as well. However, I weigh out the vanes also, which I have found that some vanes do have slight variation in weight, while others are very consistent. I can usually get down to 0.3 grains across all arrows built with my field points, but haven't tried with broadheads yet.

Jj, you should try some uv glue for the "bump" at the end of the fetchings. It's awesome for nervous shakey fellers like myself, because it won't set until you hit it with uv light via a flashlight or sticking it in the sun for 5-10 seconds. So if you mess it up, you can wipe it off until it's perfect

I've done this & have had a few dozen arrows that r less than a grain of each other. That's 12 arrows where u have all the arrows between 510 to 510& 1/2 grains. But u have to make sure both ends r square 1st with a tool so they spin perfectly. Also shooting some arrows that i got for my recurve. They came with screw in points but the nocks weren't large groove. I found some replacement florescent nocks that were for Goldtip arrows & they work great. 350 grain arrows which are the lightest I've ever shot & they have all had points within 1/10 of a grain of each other. The arrows people can get today for the money are better than they've ever been. Competition does make things better. 🎉

Archery is a game of details. The devil is in the details. So I appreciate the close attention paid to them. I seriously doubt, however, anyone here shoots well enough that 1 grain will matter. But I will also say this. Confidence matters. A lot. If this promotes confidence, do it.

I love building arrows, i dont match component weights though, to much work for something i cant shot better than anyways lol. Ill weight all the components to make sure they are what they say they are, but .1 or .2 ect im not worried about.
I did a dozen rip tko elites with your titanium inserts and easton match grade feildpoints and max hunter vanes. They came out to 434grain and every single one is +/- .5, my lightest is 343.7 and heaviest is 434.6 id say thats pretty damn good for not weifht matching but this is what you should get with quality products, this was also my first arrow build as well. Thank for all the information MFJJ.
Next i need to get a bow working station, i want a press and vice, i want to learn how to work on my own equipment, after taking my bow to a very well "respected" bow shop to get string put on and then paper tune when ready and when they called me to let me know it was ready, i asked if they had time to paper tune me after i get iff or ill come in on a weekend day, and they told me THEY ALREADY PAPER TUNED IT. how, how do you paper tune someone else bow, the dude is 6'2" with a 31" draw or something crazy, im 5'5" with a 26.5" no i know thats not the main issue but you dont hold my bow like me, sorry started to rant there lol my bad.
Get some working a vice and press and more working on own bow material. 😊

The whole idea of what match grade arrows are, yes, this is meaning that match grade arrows is matching weight, it's like put the whole idea as precision weighted and you'll have a super tight FOB, Front of Balance, that only goes to say, the rest of this process is up to have your bow ,cams n limbs Balanced and cams timed and center shot sitting as close as possible, but can the shooter, shoot a straight line

  • @edvanotteren9169
    @edvanotteren9169 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Just watched the video on making a matched set of arrows, you do a lot of weighting and trying to match components to get each arrow to weight close to the same. well here is a trick. Build your arrows and put the insert in, then weight each arrow and record the weight. After weighting the arrows weight the points you are going to use combine the lightest arrow with the heavest point, add the arrow weight and point weight together and figure wat is the lightest arrow. Subtract the lightest arrow weight from each total arrow weight. now remove each point and keep track which point goes on which arrow. The weight subtracted weight is how much weight needs to be removed from each arrow point. this will make all arrows weight exactly the same. To remove weight from the arrow point, I use a die, but you could just a nut, screw it on to the threads of the point then grind a little of meteral off of the threads. When the die or nut is removed the threads will streighten out. keep removing a little meteral at a time until the point weight what it need to to make every arrow exact.

Prob would have all been within half a grain had you weighed fletchings. My experience vane to vane with blazers is they can vary about 1/2 grain. Yours may be bette than that but when you’re chasing 0.5 across 12 arrows it may matter. I use a very similar process but weigh my vanes and with midgrade arrows like Hunter XTs can get with 1.0 across a dozen. Nice video.

I’m finding the shorter E mod doesn’t want to hold against the wall. It keeps pulling forward about a 1/2. We don't see any hunts from MFJJ and Tim! Why is that? I love the bow builds and the infinite knowledge from MFJJ but I want to see hunts. It's the off season and I love your content.

Cool video! Did you ever give them bows away? Hadn’t heard anything about them since the first video telling us to sign up

New to archery hunting. You say these are to light. What would you suggest for a good weight to hunt whitetail 30 to 40 yards out?
