I put my thoughts after our first plays in the BGG Video comments. I may put further comments there, but don't want to bother commenting in both places. (Summary: Loved it! Confused about Reindeer Card strategy. The Standard Game is great for kids or adults who don't want to think hard, and I might even play it occasionally.)
The new one is better in every way. I do think reindeer should score a little more points because it's a risky strategy if enough people are going after them. I also am not sure about the mining tool upgrades because it works against expanding your coal cart. I thought I would miss the plastic option but I didn't at all. I kind of miss the reindeer cookies but everything else is better. Love decorating the tree. There's only two spots though and you ideally would use them to get some custom resources you need but they help inspections as well so those spots can go fast. It's also really beautiful and warm. Feels like Christmas!

Just picked this new edition up. I love the old version so hopefully this new one is good.
