I want to find a caterpillar ten, and add it to my small collection of random old iron. It will take me a long time, but I'll snatch one up someday somehow. I love watching this guy work, he has a similar style of working to mine. Thorough, and passionate.
I wish they still made something like these, they'd be awesome for those of us who are hobby farmers. Little blade on the front, PTO, pull a little plow....they'd be awesome!
I just recently got one of these little Jems. It was headed to the scrap heap and I traded for it. Looking forward to the challenge of getting it going and running it around
I remember what a disaster those lower track rollers were on this machine. I think it would be a fun machine to pull some draw bar implements with, like the tumble bug perhaps, or your little genius 2 bottom plow, or the spring harrow! I really enjoy the purr of that early Cat gasoline engine. Cheers Squatch!
The wavy "art nouveau" Caterpillar on the rad is hilarious and make this sweet little tractor look even more like a toy. I wonder how that whimsical trade mark was ever sanctioned by the board for such serious equipment.
I put dual tires on my harbor freight hand truck with (2) on the semi hard tires and a longer axle . Really easier to push and handles heavier loads ! FYI . Great Channel ! (stay safe you and your Dad )
Squatch, have you ever thought about using the little cat 10 to drag other projects around when you need to move them? It seems like it would be great for that job!
Awesome little tractor. So looking forward to the pony engine rebuild. Purchased a pony supposedly running for my D47U but I don't want any trouble with it and will tear it down and freshen it up before installation. The previous owner held the latch engaged with a pry bar and broke the engagement lever or bent it so i can't use it anyway. Will pull the engine and fix it correctly so I can start it by myself. Keep up the good work and you looked like you were enjoying the ride a little bit much. Drag the tumble bug scoop and we can imagine that you were having to work.
Looks like you've had a lot of fun there. Might exceed your limit be careful. I can see that being a first tractor for grandkids/kids and adults. Glad you had fun today. I hope you find a good starting engine in your save pile too!
Strangely, watching this video reminded a book I read about 50 years ago titled "Bulldozer" It was about a D2 found in the bottom of a lake, recovered and made operational again. Don't know why I never thought about that book during your D2 rebuild.
"Bulldozer Bill".Hesitate to say I read it too,on such a manly man channel.I read it a bunch! The author had another book-"T Model Tommy".I checked a few years ago and they wanted $60-70 for either one.Nostalgia isn't worth that!
I like the idea of putting parts in creates 👍i thank you for the idea i have so many parts that need to be stored in a dry place and away from the elements
Your little Cat ten evoked some memories for me because I have an old black and white image of a distant ancestor standing behind a Holt tractor holding a pair of long reins connected to the steering levers. Some years ago now I got yarning to a bloke who had a larger than normal and fully functional Holt on display at an annual state fair in South Australia. He told me some holts had eyelets cast on the steering levers because many early users preferred to walk behind a tractor as though it was a team of horses since they preferred to align furrows that way when they ploughed. The explanation sounded plausible enough to me not only because I have an image of an ancestor doing precisely that but I can't imagine any other reason for the eyelets I have seen being present on the levers! The owner of the same Holt also told me he was once approached by an American guy acting on behalf of a US collector who offered him a phenomenal sum of money for his unusually large and rare Holt but he refused to sell. Apparently he bought a vineyard and winery where the old machine was derelict as a display feature on a lawn where it had been slowly rusting away due to repeated exposure to a watering system. He said he managed to scrounge or repair sufficient parts to restore it to full function and was very attached to it.
That cat tens an awesome lil tractor for as small as it is my great grand dad had a little cletrack never knew the model just knew he always had trouble starting it had to use acetilyne and oxygen to get it to fire off due to a weak magneto
Brakes are confusing unless you have an old John Deere or an Oliver or if you have any of the other popular old and new tractors This outfit would be easy if you are used to old Farmall tractors. Great video! Full watch and Like!
Hey Toby, It's really good to see you having fun and you don't appear tired and stressed. I think you should do this more often. Of course, easy for me to say,,,,,BUT if you stress yourself out and have the big one it is all for nothing then. Just want you to take care of yourself. I'm 78 and have a different perspective. Take C are of Toby. Hey!!!that sounds like a good name for a movement??? Anybody agree??????
Neet little tractor. What would something like that be used for? It looks about the size of a lawn tractor but would just tear up a lawn. I guess it could be used to pull a small disk in the field or pull a trailer/ wagon with supplies from the road to the construction/job site....
Toby - I see that you use Evapo Rust - this chemical is expensive but an excellent option for removing corrosion in specific applications such as small intricate components.
I just picked up a cat 10, not a pretty as yours. Thank you for pointing out some significant wear points. That said, I have a question. Where would you go for a water pump rebuild kit? Or would you just build the parts for a rebuild? I ask because the very first item on my repair list is the water pump. Second is track roller bushing inspection. As it also has a pusher blade installed. Good news though, it starts, runs, and motivates under its own power. With out much fuss. Thank you for your efforts on these old pieces of history.
I guess it could be considered a D1? Glad to see it out and about. Its what got me interested in your channel, I just had to subscribe when I saw the Cats. Nothing against farm tractors but they are all one to me. Even though I'd like to see the M M project completed.
Maybe you should pull your spring tooth with it the next time you do some dirt work, it would save you from having to unhook and re-hook the H so many times.
I believe so ! Click Squatch253 name under this video and it takes you to his channel's home page then click playlist and scroll down a bit and you see one playlist named something like Cat Ten or Caterpillar Ten and see all 9 videos he has on the repairs he has done to this one !
I own a 1956 D4 that spent a large part of its life (including now) in a barn. I just hate to see them rot away in a field 1/10th as fast as modern inferior replacements.
Nice steering clutch handles lol
instaBlaster...

Man i love that little cat. Rewatched all the old videos.👍👍
I just recently got one of these little Jems. It was headed to the scrap heap and I traded for it. Looking forward to the challenge of getting it going and running it around
Did anyone else notice how easy that thing started after sitting all winter??? Some guys are just born to be mechanics!!!
Everybody has a machine they don’t play with enough but would never be without. Great videos 👍
That looked like so much fun. Use it to go get mail and pull a little trailer for stuff that shows up at the mail box. ;-)
I think this is the first time I've seen your CAT10 and it really has a nice pleasing sound to me. neat little tractor!

It's just a baby Caterpiggle! When it grows up it will turn yellow and sprout wings!
That's really is a beautiful looking machine and looks like so fun to drive and I would so love to drive a cat one day
The wavy "art nouveau" Caterpillar on the rad is hilarious and make this sweet little tractor look even more like a toy. I wonder how that whimsical trade mark was ever sanctioned by the board for such serious equipment.
I have been looking for a hat with that logo. Can't find anybody who sells em. Not much demand apparently.

I put dual tires on my harbor freight hand truck with (2) on the semi hard tires and a longer axle . Really easier to push and handles heavier loads ! FYI . Great Channel ! (stay safe you and your Dad )
If a dozer can be called "cute", I'd say the Cat 10 is cute.
God I love that darling Little treasure of yours a very beautiful machine and she lit right off with the greatest of ease

Wouldn't mind having that little Dozer myself!

Very cool little Cat! Started right up, as well. Now that's something I could probably get by with owning. :-)
What a cool little machine! Sounds great.
Love that classic wavy cat logo.

Awesome! I was just wondering where the old girl was! Good too see it on the channel again!
Beautiful machine. Spunky too
Its like a small skid loader, just needs a loader with quick attach and a hydrulic pump!
If Jack Sparrow was to answer this then this would be "More Better!" lol
That is an awesome little tractor. Wow!
I like the idea of putting parts in creates 👍i thank you for the idea i have so many parts that need to be stored in a dry place and away from the elements
Fun little tractor to drive it appears. Makes a heck of an aerator!! 😀
That looks like fun for sure thank you for sharing
I grew up around Cat 10's and 15's in the orange groves of the former Orange County. Also lots of TD-6 Cornbinders.
What a fantastic little dozer.

That little fellow is quit a beast for its size it looks like it would be a hole heap of fun to ride around
My uncle would pull the milk tanker to the barn when snow got deep with a 10. A lot of power for a little machine
I just love those little Cats! I would love to own one. Yours is awesome!
Now this is a toy dozier for big boys it's just as cute as a bug!
I know this is a old post but this is a cool and small tractor that hardly takes up any parking space.
Custom order a Magliner hand truck with strap attachment, your back with thank you...10in foam filled tires too.
Very cool first time I've saw it run since I've been watching.
It sure looks like a cool little tractor
That is one sweet running little tractor!
That Ten is a lovely little machine! :-)
I'd like to see you drive to the grocery store and back on the Ten. Head turner for sure.
What a sweet runnin little engine that is 👍 never seen a 10 before but a friend o mine had a 20 👍👍

Maybe some tract pads like on the Minneapolis Moline has to lessen the soil grooves. Then period blade or tumble bug for light close quarter work.
I could watch you drive these things all day :)
Fuel , spark , give it a whirl........... yes Sir instant gratification 👍👍👍👍👍
I like the scrip on the radiator shroud it look cool
Your 10 is awesome !!! It's just a little brother to our 15

You need a proper barn to line up all your treasures in. Cool little Ten. It needs a job to come out and do on a regular basis.

I thought for sure you were going to drive it around the field and write squatch in cursive with the track prints!😎
The little tractor is very cool

I have to say thank you I have my little Oliver dozer in my garage I’m starting to fix it up total rebuild instead watching doing

I've had lawnmowers that start harder than that thing!
What a sweet little machine !
Maybe you should pull your spring tooth with it the next time you do some dirt work, it would save you from having to unhook and re-hook the H so many times.
Did the ten have a blade on it when you got it . It look like there was bracket on the sides

Awesome little machine
Anyone else half expecting Squatch to put rubber grousers on it and drive it to work?
Nice lil machine that one, would be fun!
That is a sweet looking classic tractor 👌😎
I think I saw track marks in the grass before you showed the cat pulling out of the shed???
Do you know what Cats target market was for that and how was it used. Ver nice little Cat.
That's a little baby one. Not a CAT but a KITTEN.
Good looking machine!
Man I love that little thing!!
Might need a lot of work, but it seems to start and run nicely... Thumbs Up!
That cat 10 is pretty cool I like the old cat emblem up front

A neat little unit.
The new school gas left in the tank, do you drain it out, storing it as you do will the gas go bad and do bad things to the tank?
