Oh shoot! IraqiVet888, I didn't know you had a fishing channel! Awesome! I didn't see your profile pic, but was listening to your voice and thought you sounded alot like IraqiVet888, and it is you! 😂 You got me on both hobbies, bro! Tight lines! 🤙
Great video! I'm so glad I found it just now. I just came from Gander Mountain. They wanted $10.00 for two 80lbs mono leaders. The family is heading out fir some saltwater fishing this weekend. I'm gonna put your video to use before we leave.
This man started out this video by saying its different ways to rig this up i just saw at least 10 comments of some body trying to tell.him how to.do his video manu people r haters. Great video
Have you thought about using a longer loop on the swivel end? That way you could thread the main line through the crimp, the barrel weight and the barrel swivel, then loop it back through the barrel weight then use the crimp and the barrel swivel as the stoppers for the weight. Then do the hook end like normal. That way the weight can be as long or as short as you want to make it.
Now a video about why not use crimps. Instead use polamar knots for the swivles and snell knots for the hooks because of crimps failing and causing trophy fish loses. I lost so many fish last week in pascagoula, I made me up some stainless wire rigs with stingers using trebles for my live mullet minnows. No more sheepshead or sharks to cut my redfish rig now! And no more loses. More difficult for crabs to steal the bait too!
Those Boone crimpers are junk because of the pyramid shaped end, narrowing to a point - see 2:55. You need the AFW or HiSeas, which are consistent in thickness across the jaws. And they're the same price, about $30, as this Boone junk. Or if you want top of the line, Jinkai SC3C for $75.
Holy thats some heavy tackle...I use 20 lb flurocarbon with 50 lb braid. I love lighter tackle if you use your drag correctly you'll never break off a fish.
COLDDEAD HAND A 1k sized spinning reel with 10 lb. braid, matched to a 4-10lb. rod, with 30 lb. leader is actually lighter tackle, and more efficient at landing a larger fish, than a 20lb. leader on a Penn 500 loaded with 50lb. braid on an ugly stick.......
Unless you're targeting bulls, 80# is total overkill. No reason to crimp a leader, totally unnecessary, just tie to swivel. Never ever ever tie a knot in your leader. Finally, if you need a weight IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR LEADER, just shorten your leader lol. There's no reason that slide weight can't sit ABOVE your swivel. That way, if current picks up, you can easily change out your weight. With this setup, you need a completely new leader to change weight. Oh yea, lead weights are available in all weights in the egg shape. I have some that are 32oz so...🤷♂️
Heads up, when making a demo video , 3 things are vital; light, sound & picture framing focus, your sound is good but your picture frame is really bad, I had to take your word for the crimps, couldn’t see it. You could have used a close up ,just framing your hands so we can see it, lastly when making table top demo, use 3 lights one left side one right side, one overhead… use Walmart clamp on lights with reg. Typing paper cloths pinned over it for soft indirect lighting, it eliminates all shadows, good info Thanks, Shalom!
Why so heavy? I’m catching reds on 15LB braid and a 30lb mono leader with a 3 or 4 here in south Texas. 3/4oz max. No fun to fish with this heavy ass shit. Probably using 50lb on the main with a huge ass reel. That’s no fun.
Seems like a lot of work. Run a singer and bead on mainline, tie a swivel on with a Palomar knot. Tie your leader to the swivel and hook to the leader . Why all the crimping? I'm asking honestly. Not being a smart ass. Maybe I been missing our on some benefits of crimps
Doing my first surf fishing next week in Destin, may the spirits of ReelMen8888 be with me!

i know this voice and then i saw the 8888, and my brain worked
ThePenatron omfg me too
I just randomly clicked on this video and that voice sounded familiar to me too. then saw the number.
Similar to the "fish finder" rigs I use for striper. You can use your own leader, it allows the weight to slide, and makes it easier to set the hook.
This man started out this video by saying its different ways to rig this up i just saw at least 10 comments of some body trying to tell.him how to.do his video manu people r haters. Great video
Why all the crimping when you could simply tie on the swivel and hook?
Good video Eric

Good video glad I subbed
Ill definitely add a bead or two on both sides of the weight
I know that voice! Love Moss
Saw this on a "TH-cam recommends".. I said to myself - that voice is familiar, he sounds just like that guy from the pawn shop... Sure enough!
I tie a figure 8 or uni knot on mono under 100lb

What's a good size circle hook for 20-28 in redfish?
You're the masterfisherman Dylan, you tell us
2/0, 3/0, 4/0
a 4/o or.5/o circle hooks
My first red was a 20+ pounder. Put up a fight.
iraqvetern8888 how many channels you got?
When the Red Fish snaps me off I grab the AK :) haha Great video!
Always wet the Knott b4 you pull on it
Will you be making a catfishing video?
why not put the weight above the swivel?
could u just attach the swivel to a snap swivel
V style Round weights..ever heard of pyramid or egg weights?
Just how I make em.
Hah, I figured. I just thought I would comment so you didn't think some creepy teenager was just staring at you lol
Now a video on why NOT TO USE
People catch bull red on 15lb monofilament nowadays........this is old!
is this Eric from IV8888?@ lol
Xavier k
lol, stainless steel pliers they got rust on it
dude put the sinker on the main line with a bead behind your barrel swivel
But then he couldn't make this long ass unnecessary video 😂

Bad rigging
No sir i tie.
Lost me at the mono. Lol. Steel letters only for me
i thought i recognized that voice bygad
If you put the weight on the main line the way they're made to be used, the fish doesn't feel the weight.
I’d know your voice anywhere Iraqi 8888
use stainless crimps on mono, copper crimps on wire
Remember to check your state laws every year before making Drum leaders.
Theyre called EGG SINKERS AND PYRAMID SINKERS, can YOU figure out witch are witch?? lmao
Basic error. NEVER TIE KNOTS IN MONO. YOU HAVE JUST LOST AT LEAST 50% OF YOUR LINE STRENGTH !!!!
