You just can't beat Bob Seger! For another great road/behind the scene song you should try The Load Out/Stay by Jackson Brown. It's absolutely magical!
This is a basically Bob's true story of being in a rock band on the road in the late 60's early 70's . This is How it was "Back in the Day." and you feel like you're riding along in a bus on the road with Bob somewhere .
It's also before he hit national exposure. This is the first song I heard from Bob Seger in Connecticut, the Live version from the Live Bullet double LP. Seger had been touring for a handful of years w success primarily in the Midwest, he being from Michigan. I bought the record after hearing this on FM radio. His next album, Night Moves, was a huge hit. Big fan for years and recommend these tunes, "Feel Like a Number" "Roll Me Away"+ "Even Now". He's got dozens of iconic songs to check out.
Hi Re. I am glad that you enjoyed this one. My generation has heard it 1000s of times , but it is always good. I actually sing this one with my band. It has soul, it has meaning and allows us to see into the world of this great artist. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
He recorded this before he became very famous ..Bob was more known in the mid west region in the US during the time when he released the original version on the Back in 72 album ..
Saw him around 1980 in St Louis Missouri. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. And that’s having seen seen the the best artists of the era. His catalog runs long and deep.
Hello you. I am glad you are doing more of Bob. I was fortunate to see Mr. Seger live and I was not disappointed. Super talented writer and such a unique voice. Bob Seger is unmistakable as soon as the first "whisper Up on the Stage Again" I really do enjoy your musical journey and look fowrd to you learning about Angelina Jordan. Young like you so very relatable to your love of musicality. Check out Bad Valentine an original by Angelina Jordan and Toby Gad. I promise once you start your journey with the Angels you will not be the same. Keep up the great work. Bluesfingers1 ("The Music of Everything ")
Another great reaction, Rere. Yes, I think road travel for artists is a lot more taxing than the average fan could ever realize. It's great that he presents this vivid picture of the challenges inherent in that journey. 👍
Ok, Rere. A couple of songs that are also related to life on the road. HOME SWEET HOME by Motley Crue. FAITHFULLY by Journey. BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN by REO SPEEDWAGON. ON THE ROAD AGAIN by Willie Nelson. And just because it's a great song, COUNTRY ROAD by John Denver. Enjoy
Bob Seger's..."Old Time Rock & Roll"... (Give me some of that good...music!) is his opposite sounding & feeling song than "Turn the Page": both are classics!
One of Bob's classics, from the Live Bullet album from 75ish(?). It was recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit, which was Bob's home stomping ground. One of the great live rock albums ever, the album that broke him from a regional artist to a big star. You should listen to it all (not necessarily react to it). Katmandu is great rocker from that album, try that one. Bob had (has?) a great powerful soulful voice, for ballads or rockers.
Thanks for the reaction. I am sure to be a musician and a human would make long tours a real challenge. This is a great song that talks about it in a captivating way. Segar is so distinctive ans accomplished.

Seger is one of the best storytellers in Rock.
He paints a picture with words combined with the most amazing music. Thank you for this. Good job!

As shown here, Bob live is great!
Saw him around 1980 in St Louis Missouri. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. And that’s having seen seen the the best artists of the era. His catalog runs long and deep.
My top 3 by him (in no particular order) are this one, Night Moves and Mainstreet, but his catalog is deep and exceptionally loaded with great songs.
