Every teenager waited for the DJ to play this song. This was the version we all heard on the radio. And every DJ was so tired of hearing it that they HATED this song! Stairway to Heaven 1971... journey of the spirit after death!! THE 70s indeed an unmatched music era... BEST decade for popular music, it's influence on modern music gave birth to many new & cool genres!! WOW!! Time flies.
Live versions of songs are great but, the studio versions are what we all remember hearing first and they are the foundation for the live performance. I will take the studio version over the live every time.
@@lindalou6105indeed. A couple Springsteen songs, The Flood, spirits in the night are WAY better in the live at Hammersmith version than the studio version, cheap trick is much better live, Peter Frampton is better live. But this, I think, is better as the studio version.
Part of the impetus for Jimmy Paige was that, when he was younger, he was a session musician and he was always admonished to play at a constant, steady pace. He wanted to change tempo and this song was the vehicle for doing so.
This is cool… I remember watching your other reaction and thinking “ oh man, I wish he picked the studio version”. So yay to whoever put it into writing!👍🏼💜
The greatest rock song ever written! Over 50 yrs old & still no one has done it better - Led Zeppelin from East London, mind blowing talents & yes exactly, a crescendo all the way into heaven!
You know, what brother this is why you’re my favorite reactor because I like what you have to say, and even though I’m a little bit older than you, I consider myself some kind of music connoisseur I know a lot about nothing and that song is an absolute masterpiece I must’ve heard that song million times But I never looked at that song the way you just did you made me appreciate that much more. Thank you.
Greatest Rock and Roll band of all time. Greatest front man, greatest drummer, one of the greatest guitarist last, one of the greatest bassists and keyboardists. 100 of 100. The best. These four dudes are perfection.
Led Zeppelin. They were in a class of their own. Once you've heard their music, you recognize it every time. One of the few bands that I never have to be in a particular mood to fully enjoy. Anytime is great time for some Led Zep.
The ascension on a stairway analogy with the musical build up is a great take away. As a young kid first hearing this in the 70's I never realized how deep it really was.
Your absolutely right, it IS like a stairway. In the decades I've listened to it, I've never thought of it in that way. I've had more goosebumps than I could count, but decipher the meaning? You're way closer than I am!
Awesome that you went back to listen to the original recording. Too many reactors who make the mistake of starting with the live version (and then Heart's cover version) never go back to hear the original masterpiece. In the future, I would highly recommend always listening to the original studio recordings of Led Zeppelin first (don't pay attention to the naysayers in the comment section). Also, I recommend listening to the original studio recording of the song "Since I've Been Loving You" next. It will touch your soul! So much better that the MSG version which is always so highly touted by those in the comment section. Peace .
Honestly never noticed that. You have to be right. There is no way its not that. You def nailed that. I agree. Totally ascends the whole time. I just always get lost in it snd never thought about that. Wow good job
There’s so many great songs by Led Zeppelin, highly recommend seeing & or listen to so many more. I personally love the live at MSG (1973) more, maybe because for decades I only heard the studio. I saw their movie back when it came out, so hadn’t remembered much, until I rewatched it on TH-cam. Thank you again for your reaction, PLEASE more Led Zeppelin.
One of my favorite songs from my teenage years still love it. Never really analyzed it just enjoyed it. The music in the 70s was the best, great to see someone younger discovering and enjoying it.
I've commented before ,having followed Led Zeppelin since I bought their 1st album when it was released over 50 yrs ago and every album there after suffice to say i know every song , lyrics even most guitar parts ,drums ,little changes ,when they occur ,etc, etc...big fan always have been and still am. I've also seen them live. They were a group who toured constantly, worked like crazy and partied just as crazy....their live performances weren't always the best because of the road lifestyle and the toll it took. Their albums are magic ,works of art and in my opinion BP is what you should focus on. I know from watching your show you prefer live performances but there aren't many filmed of Led Zeps concerts. Play more of their music and just listen ☮️
So glad you listened to this version. Live ones were tough back then. They were on lots of drugs during their concerts. So were the attendees. One of my all time favorites that never gets old. ❤
You nailed it on the first try, this son hit when I was in grade school and I have listened to a thousand times (in the last 2 years alone) it is permanent play list (it will with others be played at my funeral).

I've listened to this song for 50 years and THANK YOU for I'd never put the build and Stairway together! ❤ FRESH EYES!❤
Black,P. Stairway was RELEASED in 1971 And still one of the MOST POPULAR SONGS OF ALL TIME
Hands down this is the best version of the greatest song ever recorded!
Stairway to Heaven 1971... journey of the spirit after death!! THE 70s indeed an unmatched music era... BEST decade for popular music, it's influence on modern music gave birth to many new & cool genres!! WOW!! Time flies.
Yes and the 70s began in 68😊
Live versions of songs are great but, the studio versions are what we all remember hearing first and they are the foundation for the live performance. I will take the studio version over the live every time.
Depends. Some artists are better live than others.
@@lindalou6105indeed. A couple Springsteen songs, The Flood, spirits in the night are WAY better in the live at Hammersmith version than the studio version, cheap trick is much better live, Peter Frampton is better live. But this, I think, is better as the studio version.
Absolutely beautiful song ❤
i have to give you credit, for your crash course in 50 years of mostly rock music. pretty massive endeavor. kudos.
Part of the impetus for Jimmy Paige was that, when he was younger, he was a session musician and he was always admonished to play at a constant, steady pace. He wanted to change tempo and this song was the vehicle for doing so.
This great musical experience has stood the test of time and still sounds incredible today.
Thank you.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. It has it all.
Greatest Rock and Roll band of all time. Greatest front man, greatest drummer, one of the greatest guitarist last, one of the greatest bassists and keyboardists. 100 of 100. The best. These four dudes are perfection.
Remember . When these came out there were no videos so you listen to the music with no distractions 😊.took more in even subconsciously.
This is like five different songs all in one, which is why I’ll never get tired of it.
Led Zeppelin. They were in a class of their own. Once you've heard their music, you recognize it every time.
One of the few bands that I never have to be in a particular mood to fully enjoy. Anytime is great time for some Led Zep.
I'm so glad you came back to this version of this song.❤ i'm also extremely happy that you were glad you came back to this
I am so glade you feel this climbing in the song, I have always felt it as well.
Thank you for this song and more Zeppelin.
at 71 years old,,,this one still moves me,,,,just the sound and flow of the music,,,,,
The intensity of the song increases as you climb on each new step, with Heaven being all the music combined with all the vocals !!
This STUNNING 🌟🥰 song is now 53 years old. It is timeless.
The construction, layering, key changes and tempo changes are phenomenal! 🎶🤩
M 🦘🏏😎
I’m glad you did the studio version. Led Zeppelin and AC/DC are my faves.
That’s why this song always end up as top song of all on all the FM radio stations on New Year’s for Decades 😊
Peace .
OMG ! You got to the best of the 60’s and 70’s. Best era of music!
Honestly never noticed that. You have to be right. There is no way its not that. You def nailed that. I agree. Totally ascends the whole time. I just always get lost in it snd never thought about that. Wow good job
You need to listen to When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin or What Is and What Shokld Never Be both are amazing Led Zeppelin songs.
You gotta check out more Led Zeppelin! They are THE most legendary rock band. I'd suggest their song Babe I'm Gonna Leave You next.
You nailed it on the first try, this son hit when I was in grade school and I have listened to a thousand times (in the last 2 years alone) it is permanent play list (it will with others be played at my funeral).
