The biggest issue with Indian food is the excessive use of oil and butter. Paneer is pretty much cheese so obviously it's not the best thing to eat everyday. When I cook Indian food at home I barely use any oil and it still tastes really good. My point is that you can't use this video as an example of Indian food.

You might want to choose your geography of visit before planning a trip. There are on an average 5-10,000 dishes per state and each of them has a world of variation in them. So, for example, if you want to go to southern India, make a flexible plan because if you want to take the experience in, you'll need a lot of time in each state.

Unfortunately, when immigrant Chefs bring their native cuisine to other countries, they have to 'water down' the recipes to appeal to a wider audience that isn't comfortable with powerful flavor or spices. Travel does spoil your palate. The same foods at home now seem bland. Make friends with the Chef and staff and you might get something more 'authentic' that they make for themselves...
Yeah, and watch TH-cam videos of cooking recepies by native cooks with lots of followers! I watch Indian cookery videos all the time and make my own. There is a large local Indian population so getting authentic ingredients is not a problem. Also go to the restaurant that is filled with people looking for a taste of home. If an indian restaurant is full of Indians etc (or any ethnic cuisine) order what they are having!
Also another factor is ingredients. Both quality and age. Not all ingredients are added/available outside of India. Indian food is also about timing and freshness. Just baked roti out of tava(within 2 min) tastes totally different. All ingredients have to be strictly fresh, no frozen vegetables, frozen preparations. This changes flavor a lot.
When I go for Indian in Australia they always ask you if you want mild, medium or spicy. I always say I want the Indian Medium not the White people medium the wait staff always laugh and look after me. I once had the chef make special butter chicken for me from scratch because that's the way he would make it in India and it was on par with the best I've had in India. I complimented the dish to the owners who added it to the menu as "Delhi style butter chicken" and it's their best seller now. The only reason he offered was that I was having lunch at 4:30 and there was only one other table that was occupied.
Hets Girl Great! The mixing of spices is an art. Retaining the original flavor of something without adding much nay be considered good by some. However, the perfect mixing of spices to create a new, exquisitely balanced, exotic flavor takes a lot of work and the skills needed for this are on a whole another level.

The local man was awesome describing how the food is made etc. I think that it's great that a lot of western countries have restaurants with food from around the world. It's a shame when they change the recipe to accommodate local taste buds.

Reply to all people complaining how horrible and underdeveloped India looks. He didn't show the other side of India that is the developed and modern part of India.India is also a developing nation with a huge population of people from different cultural backgrounds so it will take time to improve all peoples livelihood.
Sitting on Ceilings I didn't claim that India is like the USA.I am saying no need to always focus on the poor side of India by all visiting tourists and Hollywood film directors.Focus on the developed side also. That's my point.
I hope you also realize India is also the most corrupted country in the world. Yall are lucky to have leaders who actually care for the betterment and development of the country. In India he money that is supposed to be used for developing the country goes into the corrupt politicians pockets. If these politicians did their jobs properly and had the British not robbed us India would have definitely been developed ages ago.
+Sitting on Ceilings But if you take PPP terms which is more accurate then the per capita income is $7500. In Nominal GDP terms India is now the 5th largest economy of around 2.9 trillion dollars and in PPP terms it is third largest in the world with $10 trillion dollars. You won't believe but India has really developing the infrastructure, fastest in the last 8 years. Billions of dollars have been invested to improve Indian railways, Airports, Expressways, Metro trains etc. Education, Health and Sanitation. One can feel the change now. In another 10 years things will be fine. Yes the per capita income is low because of huge population.

California would be a good place to start. Due to Silicon Valley, there are a large number of Indians and as expected Indian restaurants popped up eventually (techies side jobs). They're very close to authentic Indian food so you can try it out there if you want. Next best place would be New Jersey for the same reasons. After that London has many authentic Indian restaurants.
Why is India so dirty have you people no pride ? In a country of 1.3 billion you would have no problem employing road cleaners and health and safety health and hygiene officers

But I did learn how to make a few dishes myself so I cook my own when I really crave it.
Kahlest Enoch we have millions of Indians in Britain and the best thing in world is a clean none oily Indian home cooked meal , Indian food bought England is better then India and that goes for the whole of Asia , cause the food is not swimming in oil and greasy

After eating every dish he says: this is greatest thing i ever eaten. This is best bite i ever had. This flavour is just awesome. I love masala, i love ingredients, this is just awesome.
Welcome to India Mike
Much love from North East India
I wana taste north eastern food
Yup NorthEast is really an unexplored gem, i would love to explore 7 sisters though.
Since your channel started whenever you ate something that you liked i always used to say to myself 'wait till you try authentic Indian food'... And now that you're here... Enjoy bro.

Best VIDEO ever! I love how friendly and passionate our Strictly Dumpling friend from India is. 🧡🌶
JUST HOWWW CAN YOU EAT SOO MUCH HEAVY FOOD IN ONE DAY??? YOU'RE A MAGICIAN OR A MONSTAR.
He ate SOOOO much spicy food in one day. I feel bad for the bathroom he used later that night. Unless he is some kind of a god, which he may be.
He goes to the gym everyday, and works out in beast mode. He can eat that much, because he burns it off.
@@Jag0h he doesn't eat full meal he just takes 1-3 bites and moves on and if I get that much food I also can eat it easily I am 18
@@Jag0h it did not do any kind of harm to your stomach. There are species for digestion.
@@Jag0h Indians eat this much on daily bases we are used to these kind of spicy food😅🤣😂
I think it’s awesome that you just randomly run into fans of your channel around the world.

Tiny Particle Someone is jealous of India's amazing food and culture.
This is the longest I've seen Mikey not eat meat. Have fun in India =)
Mallika Banerjee he is eating meat , the masala for example
Not in the first half, that's more than any other video
yeah.. if you are going vegetarian.. then India ( even most of south Asia ) is probably the best place to do it lol
Yep, India is vegetarian heaven and we do non-veg pretty well too 😉. Now I'm hungry and missing India 😢.
Indian food is hands down my fave cuisine. I was dying after watching your tease vids on IG. Looks like this trip was magical and I'm excited to see the rest of the vids in the series.
Nobody Cares What's your fav among the Indian cuisine???
Lamb vindaloo, dals, aloo aur papri chaat, and chana masala. I'll eat any dish though ☺️
came here after the uncle roger incident, saw an og talk about how you were down to earth and said to check out your visits to india and pakistan. i already love this channel.
what happened? what was the incident?
Yes the per capita income is low because of huge population.
lewisevander 100% correct. what i wish everybody would know
Chandrasekara Saraswathi extreme poverty....wtf....please be more informed when u comment on something.....do you even know about purchasing power parity.....no just gdp per capita
I love the Indian food I've eaten in the US and other places, but never been to India. This all looks so delicious. I hope there's more videos here too. :) I liked the friend you had dinner with too, he was really enjoying introducing you to new foods. It's easy to see his enthusiasm. Super fun episode.
This episode is fantastic. I hope you have a lot more in india!

So awesome to see you in India. Still huge on my bucket list. It's so hard to find the right ingredients to make good Indian cuisine at home here in the states. I will keep trying until the day comes when I finally get to visit. Every-dang-time I see a food show about India, I see something totally new. Thanks for sharing Mikey :-)
Marky Shaw 🙏🏻
California would be a good place to start. Due to Silicon Valley, there are a large number of Indians and as expected Indian restaurants popped up eventually (techies side jobs). They're very close to authentic Indian food so you can try it out there if you want. Next best place would be New Jersey for the same reasons. After that London has many authentic Indian restaurants.
Wecome to India Marky
Find some indian departmental store u will get everything
THAT GUY WHO SHOWED YOU AROUND, SHIVA
SHOULD HAVE HIS OWN FOOD SHOW
HE HAS A NICE SCREEN PRESENCE AND SEEMS LIKE A FUN DUDE

farozan rizwan as Mikey said "better late than never"😄
Why is India so dirty have you people no pride ?
In a country of 1.3 billion you would have no problem employing road cleaners and health and safety health and hygiene officers
Great video! Can't wait for more on India
indian food is so damn delicious...they really know how to use spices and herbs
i am indian, and there were some dishes which even i didn't know about. This shows how diverse india is

You are KILLIN' me Mikey! That all looks insanely good.
i live in mumbai and i am so glad you are here. But i really hope you go to delhi and calcutta. If its food particularly street food in india, these two are the best in my personal opinion. Can't wait till you try momos
The first two dishes looked OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!

I was lucky enough to live with a landlord who's girlfriend is from India, and quite often her whole family would come over and they would cook traditional authentic indian foods and I know what you mean, I can't eat in an Indian restaurant here anymore.
Raymond Duggan indian food in england is nothing infront of the food here in India, indian food is maximum time all about the oil or butter, without it it doesn't taste the same .
Rohan Bansal of course it is millions of Indians live in England , have you been to a Indians house in England
Where three generations of Indians live ?
Rohan Bansal Indian food is about the herbs and spices not the oil , I am a qualified city and guilds chef and no cooking is about the oil and butter , oil and butter kills food
Raymond Duggan billions of Indians live in India have you been to any restaurant in India?
Russel Peters shows Jackie Chan india. WoW 😂😂
i cant unsee it anymore 😂😂
I hear you!
-Mumbai
LMAO dead
LMAO !! 😂😂😂
One wants a discount, the other won’t give it. 🤣😂🤣
Gosh. Indian people are soooo sweet. They will do anything for you.
Dude was so awesome for rolling up on you, then taking you on a lil food journey! Super sweet amazing people. Including you, Mike.
One thing I really love about Mikey Chen's videos is that he always provides his locations and the websites for them neatly in the description.
"It's all about that SPICE!" - Russell Peters, Mumbai, April 2018
I am traveling to Mumbai next week, looking forward to try alot of food.
How was the experience??

Theres a huge appreciation for vegetarian food in Indian. Its so decadent yet easily sourced. Mmmm PauBhaji is my love. Thank you 🧡 have a super day

@@ptsdtwerktwerk what is Frankie actually?
absolutely adore the viewer with you looks at you to ensure your enjoying it!!! so happy to see ur in india, miss my home and this video brings back so many memories!
I love that dudes accent honestly
Rebekka every indian has the same accent
+Supreme Bass No, they don't. That's a classic SoBo accent. Only people from SoBo have that accent.
South Bombay.
Rahul Sinha more like SoMu accent, Somu tula maya var bharos nay kay?
It's definitely one of many SoBo accents. SoBo alone has way too many different types of speakers to pigeonhole them all into one kind of accent. Also, I understand your Marathi sensibilities, but it's called SoBo, not SoMu.
Love your enthusiasm and energy for my city's cuisine!! I'm really stoked that you found a good local to guide you around the right highlights!!
This is the best India food video I've seen in awhile
Yayy... My country!! I hope you have a good time in India.😄😄 And i am from the north eastern part of India, at Mizoram.😊✌ i wish you could visit here.😄😘😘

Ok now I want to eat Indian fooood☹️💙💙 I don’t care how they serve it but loook at it all the foods are so appealing and appetising. Also I luuuv a lot of spices and herbs in my food soooo the best food I think is Indian food👌
Indian foods are made from fresh herbs and fresh market meats too..so no worries :))
In india we dont even touch pscked stuff like foreign countries😅
