      @@iamtheoverlordofu554 well it depend were you are ,if you on the move or staying in one place ,on someone land or unmark land .i had jobs in south america and i camp on the land i was working so that was okay ,but there were times i camp when i did,nt have a job ,or so little money that i had to dumpster dive for food which was nice in Sweden but not so well in south america . i know people who build a hut one with a dome and one with a flat roof they are much better than a tents ,because of the weather .alone .i sleep in my tent in sweden ,when the temp drop down to minus -18 .but a hut you can build yourself a fireplace or buy a cheap wood stove .in the winter i had troubles with mice trying to get in and eating holes in my tents.im in madison wi right now living in my tent,until i go on my long walk sometime next year.unless you growing your own food you have to buy it but .you don't need alot of it .rice pasta peanut butter is the food for people with little or no money not sure where you are there there food banks or near towns or what ,but you seem to be doing well

    Got to say, as a renter, with a moderate income, the idea of making the break and going for a solo lifestyle is so appealing. Great video, top insight, inspiring stuff my friend. What a life, maybe we all need to realise that less is more in this world. Stop chasing things, eat, sleep, grow your own and keep warm......liberating times!

    That must be a British tent used during the 1950's thru the 1970's. I slept in a tent for one night at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas while in the military and we had to keep our firearm (M-16 rifle) where it could not be stolen and mine was in bed with me. We ate a hot meal brought in warm and served to us and I thought we would have to eat MRE's instead, but was glad we didn't have to since they aren't the greatest. We had two people per tent and that was nice.

    Another GREAT series begins! The video scenes are evocative and engaging. THANKS TO ALL OF YOUR FAMILY for taking on the challenge of a long-term stay. Active outdoors people always have/need projects. Human nature is to 'tweak' things to our liking. In my time outdoors, one of my priorities was to build frames for shelters that allowed me to eliminate ropes. We each have our 'druthers.'

    The condensation is an issue. I have, in smaller tents, used a solar charger, a motorcycle battery tapped at the six volt strap, and a four-inch (100mm?) computer case fan inside one of the top vents-worked a treat, charge all day, pull out condensation all night.

    WOW, you've joined the lifestyle, good on you, we have been doing the very same thing/similar for the last 3 year's, nothing beats forest camping and especially long term, drive in and not drive out for a month or more. Finally catching up on your video series, watching this one makes us wish we were in the bush at the moment, unfortunately the recent rain has left our bush areas very wet and boggy. Also just wondering whether you have a specific method for covering your tracks (vehicle and foot tracks) on the way into camp and whether you could cover any tips or ideas you have or would use in this case scenario in a video. Thanks for sharing your awesome videos 😊

      @@BushwackerMan That's awesome, we know it is much harder in the UK to bush camp on public land. With private land you don't have to worry about anyone else venturing into your campsite. Looks like you are enjoying your long term camping, once you start it is very hard to go back to the main drag, have been there many times ❤

    Why have you got the tents skirts flapped out like that? Unless you are drying them off?
    They should be tucked under the groundsheet to keep the tent nice and cosy.

    • @BushwackerMan
      @BushwackerMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It gives the tent more support in high winds 👍👍

      Bushwacker Man - I’ve got one of those tents, and I always tuck then skirt under the tarp and then use heavy tent spikes to hold the skirt down. It makes it slightly more difficult to roll them up if it’s hot, but the inside is much snugger, and keeps most of the bugs out.
      Each to his own. I think those tents are awesome, I’ve just bought a new wood stove oven for mine.

    Awesome. I would definitely try and snag me at least a 10 mil or better pond liner for a footprint and the canvas liner over that. You will be snug as a bug in a rug. Awesome set up. The Bakers tent is dwarfed by the shelter.

      @Demon Slayer .. fishing is plentiful locally, I highly doubt 300 miles of shoreline will be patrolled constantly day and night...in addition to hundreds of lagoons ..many fishing piers, etc.. literally no problem unless water is poisoned.....veggies..well unless it's coconuts from palms that line the keys...then must grow them

    You might also ‘after you have the sharp object out of the tire] look into ‘Slime Tire Repair/Sealant’ or whatever the U.K. equivalent is. That and a bicycle pump should last several seasons.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If he's gonna get a bike pump anyway then he might as well get a bike puncture repair kit which will have a little piece of sandpaper (to roughen up the tyre for better adhesiveness) and vulcanising glue with rubber patches.

    Got mortar and pestle?
    Why not plan on making a pesto from nettles and wild onions after things green up? The addition of hazelnuts could wait until after they ripen. Nice side dish to spit-roasted hare.

    Do you own the land you are staying on? I mean i guess you do. Im thinking about making myself homeless and camping around England for a year or 2, everyone keeps saying it impossible, as i have been thinking about it for years now, but after this whole virus thing i am thinking about saving and actually doing it! May well post it all to youtube so everyone can see my fails and beautiful views. I have the whole where to stay thing planned, and maybe places to stay and do some work sometimes. :)

    Seams to me you brought a lot more gear then needed. A extra stove when you have a stove heater. I would love to do the same thing now that we're in a shelter in place. I didn't see any fishing gear is there a river or lake near by. Also the fog is great company. Can't wait for chapter two.
