While many inline-4 engines tend to be more peaky in nature, delivering most of their power higher up in the RPM range as you approach the redline, the CB1100's engine was specifically tuned to provide broad, flat, power delivery with plenty of torque down low. That is what makes this motorcycle so smooth. Not that you would have a need to do so, but on a flat surface you can launch the CB1100 solely using the clutch with no throttle input required at all. At this stage of the game identifying the bike that you feel the most comfortable with, whatever bike that happens to be, is important. While the CB'1100's power delivery is indeed smooth, things like the weight and size (the seat hight and the overall ergonomics) of the motorcycle are important factors to pay attention to. You will want to be comfortable with all of these things when you start to expand your street selection. By the way, while the CB1100 is smooth, it's not smooth on it's own, someone still has to provide smooth inputs - nicely done. Stay safe, good luck, and always ride as if no one else on the road can see you (at least never assume that they do see you).
I have the 2013 for the past 8 years and have put on 56k Miles. No issues with maintenence etc. And "Smooth" is exactly how I would describe the bike. MY INSEEM IS ONLY 29 INCHES, so I tippy toe a bit, but it is very doable.
I just got this exact bike. This is bike # 75 in my lifetime. The motor is a masterpiece. And razor sharp handling. I put 200 miles my first weekend of having it.
Getting more comfortable and increasing distance broadening your comfort zone as always thank you for sharing with us the community this amazing journey. I love rumble and feel of a Harley the most, but I have ridden CB900F before simular to that and it can seriously eat up the miles comfortably
There's only one bike left one now: Honda CBX. That's the ultimate motorcycle to me. Model years '79-'80. Around 1050cc, 6-cylinders, 24-valves, and looks to die for. The best paint job is red.
In this review you nailed it. I had the same impressions. I like that you’re coming at it from a different angle being a learner (although you’re no doubt beyond that now). I have one of these bikes. To me it’s a perfect forgiving learner bike except for the weight…the weight won’t forgive you if you don’t respect it…great review and video.
Just stumbled upon your channel. You have my exact first and second bikes, red sportster and black cb1100, I’m hooked on the cb now! My sporty rumbles with a sic pipe but the smooth ride and power of the cb has me! Lol! Great to see one of my fellow female riders on the cb! Have fun!
Inline 4 is the favorite choice for me - all the way. I LOVE my inline 4 on my 1000cc Kawasaki Versys. Congrats for handeling this big Honda so well :o)
Actually, for a smooth light and nimble beginning bike(almost feels like an electric bike and a bit boring engine characters wise) try out a street triple.
What’s great is you are progressing while use a ton of a different bikes. Once you dial in on the “one” and ride it all the time then the learning grows exponentially
Doing great! That bike reminds me of my first Street bike. 1978 ( I think) cb750. I bought it out of a guys barn. It was running great the same day. Feeling nostalgic lol
I just bought the 2017 cb1100 last weekend. No miles on it yet. I havent drove it yet, but I did sit on it and was almost flat foot. I'm 5'6" the seat height was the only thing I was a little concerned about since I'm short. Everything else about the bike is awesome.
I just accidentally jump on ur channel and from my perspective, and i have 3 bikes, its an super cool video just from a simple reason that you are so simple and honest in your words and explanations that ypu sound just like little kid. pls do not take this as an offend or something, its actually an impression
If I just show up at your house, can I test ride all the bikes too? Lol. KIDDING...kind of. So cool to see improvement in your skillset every time you post a video! Also, I've been wanting to convert an older Honda CB into a cafe racer. One day. Until then, ride safe!
I bought the same bike for my first bike a few weeks back. Definently think the CB1100 is better than most of the HDs out there, in just about every metric. Only thing HDs have on the CB is that two stroke sound...though I have an Arrow exhaust with the db reducer removed and it sounds fantastic at higher revs...still not obnoxiously loud at all.
You can make the Honda sound better with performance exhaust or a free flow slip on muffler. Hondas are very smooth running, Harleys vibrate. But that's one of the attractions of Harleys. I like the look of CB1100 a lot. Except for the engine it looks a lot like the 1971 CB350 I had way back when. The CB1100 will out perform the Sportster at speed, and highway cruising. You were doing really good with the clutch and gas starting from a stop until you began to talk about it. I think you are getting it down without thinking about it. When you talked about it you started thinking about it instead of just feeling it. "You've come a long way baby" to quote a 1960's cigarette ad. In a short time you'll be riding for hours. Then you can tell Jon you want Goldwing Tour or CVO Road Glide Limited touring bike! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Love the Retro look looks like a super smooth bike would love to own one ! Jackie you are very lucky you get to ride all these different bikes ! I am Jealous.
3:30 - "I don't think I have ever ridden a bike quite like this before....this bike is very smooth...extremely smooth.......... " well it's a Honda, period. 🙂 Enjoy

Not just a beginner bike as it fits many lifestyles. Power delivery is very smooth. A very comfortable machine. Just add a marlin wind screen. Dart Flyscreens - Marlin flyscreen www.dartflyscreens.com/products/marlin-flyscreen
“Better than a Harley” Such an odd question considering that it isn’t even the same kind of bike or the same use case. May as well ask “is it better than an R1” or “is it better than a 1250GS” or “is it better than a Grom” This bike is 100% a reliable commuter bike. It’s a basic motorcycle. Handles better than a Harley, stops better than a Harley, better in traffic and parking lots than a Harley. More comfortable than an R1, better in the city than an R1, more reliable than an R1, cheaper to maintain than any bike listed above(except the Grom) and it far more reliable than any of the bikes listed above.
What I want to know is....was it smooth? I'm not sure if you mentioned it.😂 Three quarters of the way through the vid I thought I must write and tell her how impressed I am with the non stalling starts and then...🤔 I think you need to practice your starts on your Triumph because that's the Bike you seem to struggle most with. Once you've mastered pulling away on that you shouldn't ever stall again. Re watch your vids, as you're letting the clutch out your right wrist isn't turning at all. It'll come to you with practice.😀
Def not a first bike. Heavy. Lots of power especially taking off. Heavy in a turn. REALLY strong brakes. I test rode one and love it but it's not a beginner bike. FZ07 maybe?
Please contact "doodle on a motorcycle" so she can see your video, i sent her a message to watch your husband's video on the cb 1100, and I believe your video would also, possibly get her to just try one ride, but they are also getting harder to find. Thankyou for your video, your ride was comfortable, and very smooth. That bike is incredible. It rides, and handles so smooth. Thanks again..
I was subbed to Doodle a couple of years ago but got tired of her sexist comments, as in always slagging off male riders. Given the examples she gave some instances may have been justified but almost every video was imbued with some form of bias. And my OCD couldn't cope with her gear changes, as in never letting off the throttle when changing. Clunks and rev over-run abounded.
How about turn signals, stop sings, ask your instruktor to give you your money back and make shure that insurance company does not have access to this video. Check out MC Rider instructors videos, lot to learn. Good luck.

@@JackiesMotoGarage if possible, watch fortnine's video on beginner riding gear and how to spot fake gear before you buy. Ryan's advice is usually spot on.
The smooth power delivery can be attributed to the 4 cylinder engine. You would appreciate it even more on a long trip. Have fun!
Your confidence is obviously improving. Hondas in general don't do anything wierd or unexpected. You said "refined", absolutely spot on observation!
