In my experince it doesn't seem to always translate from one sport to another. If you watch athletes who take up boxing such as football players, Strongmen, basketball players etc etc, they don't seem to have the same innate abillity. Did you see shaq box ?
I think what he meant is that athletes don't hit their peak physical condition at 19/20 (gymnasts are a weird exception). That's basically right out of high school, where they don't have the benefit of years of working with professional physical trainers, nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches, etc., on a daily basis. Guys that go pro that young, although extremely talented, are nowhere near their peak physical development. Look at how much Kobe developed physically from when he came in straight from HS, compared to him at like 25.

Nah. There's guys fighting at heavyweight that haven't be 240 since they were in HS. I don't think is solves the skill problem and is cuts a majority of most heavyweight rosters by 50%. Adding weight classes does nothing. Guys are just trying to fight smaller people, so they try to cut beyond what's natural and healthy. You don't see boxers struggling with this type of stuff. Nah. There's guys fighting at heavyweight that haven't be 240 since they were in HS. I don't think is solves the skill problem and is cuts a majority of most heavyweight rosters by 50%. It isn't fun watching fat dudes get outworked, but it isn't fun missing out on guys like Carwin and Ngannou either.
A super heavyweight would be entertaining, but there's just not enough genetic freaks in mma to make it good. It would inevitably be a few good fighters then a bunch of fat fucks.

Adding weight classes does nothing. Guys are just trying to fight smaller people, so they try to cut beyond what's natural and healthy. You don't see boxers struggling with this type of stuff. Stay in shape all year round, at or close to fight weight. No need to cut 15lbs the day before the way in. So stupid, just move up a weight class.

Wilt was the most athletic big man of all time and it's not close. His vertical leap was off the charts. Arnold S. Said Wilt was insanely strong in the weight room. He was a track and field dominant athlete at Kansas University and even in retirement he was doing competitions in various sports and even in his mid to late 40s teams were begging him to come back.
His vertical leap story has been debunked he had a good leap but nothing like 90's and later jumpers. And the dude simply just wasnt as strong as shaq.
