I bullied a guy same age as me. Only verbally. 10 years later this guys a bjj champ in my state and has his own gym. I always felt bad for the things I said to him and after about 5 years out of school I sent him a fb message to apologize and he was very forgiving we had a beer at the bar caught up and he was just the Best Guy. Nelson if you’re reading this man you’re going way further than I ever will bud. Keep it up. I’m sitting here hating life in the military.

I wonder why people bully other in schools. I used to have a bullied friend we lived on the same street and played hockey, he was a bit fat and somewhat awkward. People called him fatass and I used to defend him from the other guy which were also my friends because I was one of the best at sports in high school. It seems like they felt a sense of unity all humiliating one person and they could all have a sense of something in common to relate to, bullying the fat kid.

@@MaxxerG that’s how it was in my friend group to me but it wasn’t bullying, just light stuff, but their was one kid who didn’t know the limits, he seemed narccasstic in that sense. Eventually we fought because it became too much and although I didn’t get beat up, I didn’t beat him how I would’ve wanted and held a grudge for the longest until I seen this video, GSP is a real dude fr.

    • @Vacuon
      @Vacuon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

From the story about his abusing father we can guess he probably had a very shitty life, and when you're young that'll make you do shitty things. I'm pretty sure the bully in this story did a lot of other bad things, to a lot of other kids than GSP, but at some point you get older and have to live with all that you've done. I wouldn't be surprised if he was "paralized" by shame and guilt (a powerful motivater to escape in alcohol and drugs). In the end GSP served as a metaphor, by forgiving him the guy saw that he wasn't beyond redemption and stopped giving up on himself...
Anyways that's only my guess! But I'm pretty sure he needed that forgivness more than he needed that 100 bucks

It takes struggle and hardship to get the viewpoint he has. Some can hear those story and build that type of attitude but for most you have to experience struggle for that attitude. The problem today is we are free and we don’t suffer consequences for our actions. We are complacent and blind to what struggle is and because of that our view on life and reality is distorted

I ran into my school bully when I was in my 30’s. I’m in my 50’s now. He was working in a local store. When I saw him he recognized me right away. We were obviously adults but I was much larger than him and had been training martial arts for many years, so I easily could have hurt him. He was very apologetic for how he treated me and I told him it was all in the past and we were good. We talked for an hour or more about old times and people we both knew. After a while I bid him farewell with a handshake. I found out only a few weeks later that he deleted himself over a divorce. I was heartbroken for the guy. Even though he tormented me as a kid, as an adult he took responsibility and apologized. He didn’t deserve to go out that way. I’ll never forget him and how good he made me feel when he apologized. George & Joe are right, carrying hate in your heart is detrimental to your overall well being. Forgive people’s mistakes in the past and move forward in a better light. It’s good for the soul.

I read GSP book. He suffered from severe OCD personality disorder. He was texting he ex girlfriend many times a week for 1 year before she broke up with her new boyfriend and came back with GSP. He used all these OCD traits in his training to train and throw kicks thousand of times before going back to his next training from Montreal to NYC until he perfected it. His flaw in his personal life made him the GOAT in his professional life and trained repeatedly to master all of his techniques more than any other fighter.

That guy caught that energy from GSPs' wholehearted gesture .
You know the guy thought about their past and GSP telling him that he used to lookup to him caused the dude to reflect on his past ,and ultimately analyze his past from a new perspective .
The fact that the guy got a job n went back to express gratitude tells me he had struggled all his life self projecting his own abuse and somehow his relationship bullying GSP as a kid had played a role in GSP to become a champion later in life ,and then GSPs championship and success ended up humbling GSP enough that later when they crossed paths again, this all came full circle .
And for the better, all because GSP has true ❤️

And it is true. You're not FULL of potential. Life isn't fair. But you can do your best. You just have to work harder than tall and good looking person. It is always combination of your genes and what you do. Talent and hard work. Ask anyone who knows anything about this stuff (for example some PROfessional musician) - hard work always win. Of course if tall, good looking guy works as hard as not so tall and not that good looking guy, tall and good looking one will win. You can't change the fact that world isn't fair, but that's no reason to give up.

These recommendations are getting scary. I was literally thinking about how I need to drop the grudge I have on my high school bully. Trust me my grudge was really bad, I’ve been out of high school for 7 years now... and over the course of those 7 years I don’t think a week has gone by where I didn’t think about beating up my bully or doing horrible things to him just to let him know how much he’s effected me and my life. I recently realized that I just need to drop it... it’s been 7 years and I can’t keep holding onto these thoughts of pain and negativity... it’s time to open a new chapter of my life and leave all the negative thoughts behind. I don’t know if my Bully will ever change his perspective on me or how he treated me but I can’t dwell on that. I need to live my life for me and stay positive.
(Side note: His reason for bullying me was simply “I don’t like you”) I tried to talk it out with him when we were younger but he’s always been hard headed. Maybe some people were just meant to be shit?

Who's more likely to be successful? Momentum carries.
Sure, there are stories like Bill Gates and Elon Musk who rise above it, but those are anomalies.
It's more likely the successful person will carry that momentum to the next school, to the next career, etc. than the other way around.
The loner, excluded kid will have to climb the mountain with a weight on his/her back. The other person is going down hill.

But with the exception of elite athletes who are given a silver platter for life due to their genetics, the most successful people on the planet all fall into the category of bullied/unpopular as kids. It's what drives them. Why spend your life trying to be excellent if everyone kissed your ass from day one? I met the guy at a hardware store a few years ago and initiated a handshake so that I could apologize respectfully. Despite everything I put him through, he shook my hand and said "Man, it's all good. Kids are cruel, no hard feelings bud". I have never felt so small in my entire life, with all the torment I put him through, he was still able to forgive me and be the bigger man. I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up on the way home. I felt like such a piece of shit. People really can change, if I could go back and take back everything I did to him, I would, in a heartbeat.
