I wish I could buy the plate insert so I can mount a RMR, I'm finding posts from over a year ago saying their out of stock. Now I have to spend damn near $100 for a aftermarket plate when I should only have so spend like $20, thanks FN...
strangest thing happened to me today. I haven't swapped out the mount covering but it came flying off at the range today. fricken hit me in the face to. I got it back on but I have no idea how it happened.
Just a heads up, FN says to not use loctite when screwing in an optic on the mounting system. My Holosun flew off my 509 tac after a few hundred rounds. I threw some loctite on there, and haven’t had any issues since.
How do you site in the vortex venom that comes on the 509 tactical from bass pro? The rear site covers the 2 screws that lock the elevation and windage adjustment.
@@JesusRivera-um9xc I see holosuns mounted to 509s all the time, bit I did just opt to go for the trijicon rmr. I'm happy with my choice as I liked the pew too much. It's made it to my daily carry. Hope you found something that you like!
As an owner of the FN509 C MRD I would strongly advise that you not purchase this firearm if you plan to dry fire it. It has a unique design on the striker pin, that many said may brake. I didn't heed the advice I saw on TH-cam, and though that mine would not break since it was a newer pistol. When it breaks get an Apex striker pin part and not the OEM part. Also don't purchase the firearm with a preinstalled optics since it will not have the mounting plates for other optics. If you would like to mount an optic, be prepared to wait to several months, I have been waiting 4 months now (and there is not light at the end of the tunnel), for the RMR plate to mount a Holosun Red Dot. It is fine pistol once you get the necessary parts. My guess is that the product manager from FN is still suffering from a cranial-rectum inversion problem. Hopefully the PM can get some much needed treatment and begin to produce the necessary parts for this fine pistol.
That is sad but true, the main critical flaw with the 509 is the striker, mine broke after only 250 rds, with some dry fire in between. The apex striker holds up very nicely in my gun, also was lucky and got all the mounting plates i need. Also got the apex extractor and trigger installed too, the gun is a beauty.
@@TheLilrichard123 Hi Richard - I love the pistol, just dislike the support that comes with it. Curious how you like the trigger upgrade from Apex. The Trigger on the FN509 does hit a wall, but you have to give it a strong press which sometimes causes a poor shot placement. Did you install the trigger yourself? Did you need the FN 509/FNS-C Disassembly Fixture?
@@Quality_Guru Yes, i did do the trigger install myself. The disassembly fixture made driving the trigger pin as simple as it gets. Once you get past that little obstacle, re-assembly is simple as long as you follow the instruction guides from Apex. As for functionality from the trigger, I thought my FN trigger was already pretty light and crisp; man was i wrong. The Apex trigger was one of the best $150 upgrades i've made for the 509, short reset and clean break.
My fn 509 compact never came with optics kit. I want a different red dot instead of the vortex viper red dot. I want to put a better red dot on but i cant find other mounting kit for a trijicon or leupold red dot.
I know this is an old post but I ran into same issue bought my 509 used and it only came with one mag so I bought two 24 round OEM mags and I ordered a Trijicon optic plate from a company called Rainier Arms it was $80 and shipped fast got it in three days. If you haven’t found one yet.
it may not be that high being it is going directly into the slide with plenty of threads. Why you see lower figures in most optic mount systems is because they are threading into a thin plate with barely 3 threads holding the optic to the plate. Taurus TOTO models have a similar mounting system to this as does my shadow system.
i know im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me

The plastic bag that he cut into. That bag of extra plates, screws and torq wrench should have been included in your soft sided case. It was included in my midsize tactical bag.
I was looking around right before this to see if I can mount the romeo zero to the mrd... But all iv found so far is that it will mount to the FN 509C and idk if they have the same print or if the mrd comes with the right one.

Question does the sro hanging over the ejection port cause any malfunctions?
Do you need a spacer in 545 MRD? The non treaded barrel or just direct mount? I’m using holusun EPS.
Can this work with a regular FN509 midsize

Unfortunately you have to remove the rear sight to zero it. Idk why they chose that optic knowing that it’s a stupid system….
Agreed. This is a moronic pick for a MRD. The boss's family member must have been in charge of this.
How do you adjust the site on the optics with the rear sight in place? Do I need to remove the rear site mount?
Depending on the optic yes
Picking one up tomorrow..can't wait
I have a 509m MRD. Nobody is saying how to mount holosun 507c x2 or the 508t x2. Some are saying the screws don’t fit but no fix?
I was never able to get it to fit. Ended up buying a different gun to out my holosun on. Kind of disappointed.

Where can I get that optics kit ? My plate came off and I log the screws and can’t seem to find a lot anywhere online
You should try to never log screws.
Would you torque a Vortex Viper red dot to 22in/lbs as well?
FN customer service is non existent, just sell the plate packages, the parts are impossible to get.
For real. I’ve emailed them 3x already asking about the plate package as well and they’ve never even bothered to respond back🎉
I wish you would’ve installed the spacer that goes in the rear sight on DPP. I’d really like to find this part that’s metal!!
Thank you it really helped
If my 509 cc came with viper red dot and want to run a holoson 507c will the plate work?
Can a holosun eps/ eps carry or any holosun be mounted ?
My screws are supper tight help!!
What’s the point of the tiny black piece that says it’s used with the delta point pro if you just mount it directly to the slide
Yes somebody please answer this .
Will it accept the Holosun HE508T-V2?
Can you mount the Sig Sauer SOR11000 Romeo1 Reflex?
I'm interested in this also..
Question? I have a 509T should i remove the thread lock on the screws for my new optic if it comes with them?
I wouldn’t
22" pounds sounds high for those small screws. What does FN recommend for the RMR Type 2? Thanks.

Only option is to remove the rear iron sight once you have it zeroed and need to lock in the adjustment. Then reinstall the rear sight.
Can somebody please tell me where do i find the little black tool to take off the original plate that comes with the 509 so i can put on the optic
Mine was in the bag with the plates.
Thank you!
where did the black filler piece that filled the gap behind the DPP and rear sight come from??
Yea I'm wondering same thing
The plastic bag that he cut into. That bag of extra plates, screws and torq wrench should have been included in your soft sided case. It was included in my midsize tactical bag.
If you have a non tactical version, it’s possible it’s an extra add on and not included.
I wish it was metal, not plastic
On the fn509 using a 6-32 screw I torque to 20 inch lbs same as the M&p 2.0 core any set up using a 4-40 I use 15 in lbs
What is the o ring for?
Roll out the new, revolutionary system...
That's the same as the Masada.

Will a 509 Compact MRD cowitness with a Vortex Razor (RZR-2001)?
It's sights are blacked out
yes
I think this is a bad move, check out some competitive shooters on this subject
22inch pounds is not enough to keep optic from loosening up.
Thats fucking cool, can i get other guns like my g19x cut to use that mounting system? 🤣
Yes, or you can just buy a slide that's milled already.
It seems that he installed to delta point pro differently than the paper that the weapon came with. Very confusing.
I don't understand either
@@jeremydevos8721 for a delta point pro just take off the plate on gun then just mount the delta point pro directly on the weapon
Design flaw, how do you loosen and tighten the lock screws on Viper when zeroing??
not a design flaw more like a flaw from Vortex. if you want cowitness sights they will be tall. but I guess vortex doesn't believe in cowitness.
Too bad the trigger is so bad on the 509. And trijicon torque specs are less than 22 inch lbs
22 inch pounds? Isn’t that a little to much?
@Viking thanks for the answer. See you had a little seizure at the end of your sentence there...
