I was about to order this torque wrench and realized yes he is referring to inch pounds but the dial is showing newton meters. This would not be a good wrench for this project.
You mentioned on the slip fit that the nut gets torqued to 80 pounds. Is that foot pound, or inch pounds? If this is the procedure, then why even buy the special nut and washer if the old bearings and gears are being reused?
I installed a used good set if bearings and gears in my alpha one 1988. Now it whines . I did not do this preload. I did not use a torque wrench . I could turn the shaft with my hand prior to installing. Can'timagine it's too loose??.
Thanks for watching. It’s possible that it’s due to the preload being slightly off. Improper re-shimming for the change in gears and bearing can cause this.

Hey Mike... I think you may have overloaded the bearings with 61 in-lbs of force. That wrench you are using is newton meters.
I wonder if he saw this comment. Seems like you are correct.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I used the shims that were in it already. Gonna pull the drive.

Keep us posted. Do you plan on performing preload procedure?
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I think It's coming from the gear set. The lash looks good and it doesn't even get warm.

Awesome, looking forward to hearing back from you. 👍
Jou forget the clamp in the middele of the bearing 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for watching, it’s recommended to do so however we didn’t have a clamp readily accessible. Keep us posted on your project. 😎👍
