Hey Ryan! Thanks, really means a lot coming from you. We love your videos and all you do for the cycling community. You inspire so many people to get out there and see this beautiful world we live in. The XWA is an awesome adventure and can't wait to see you ride it. Happy Trails!
Hey duzer! An idea for this route it to either 1. Instead of ending in tekoa, end in Spokane which is at the end of the Columbia plateau trail. Big city with an airport. 2. Keep going to plummer and enjoy one of America longest paved bike paths all the way to mullan idaho. (Maybe bring a friend for this ride). From there is a gravel rail trail. All the way to Missoula Montana. In-between is an awesome rail trail called the route of Hiawatha that goes over high trestles and is epic! Cheers
Hope you all enjoy this video! We decided to go back to a longer format video and not break the adventure into multiple videos. Curious if you all prefer it this way?
@@alexmarchica5264 I do have a gear and bicycle review video on my channel. We have our gear down pretty good now and have not changed it. I can't think of anything we would have done differently and we used all the gear we brought, sorry that's not the best answer.
Hey Chris, Those hot days sure did make it harder. Sure was a fun route though. I watched your video again after we got back as it was fun to see how things changed from June to August. BTW you are killing it on your videos, the bikerafting looks like a blast. Let me know if you ever venture down to Florida, we have some really good bikepacking here. Thanks!
What a great movie. We (Michelle and I) miss to see you guys around and riding with us like the old days. Enjoy your adventures and we hope to see you soon. H&Michelle
Thanks so much! Yes, we miss seeing you both. Just taking a little break from all of the racing. We’ll have to meet up again for a ride or camping trip sometime.
I would say you 2 are lucky to have these adventures, but I know all too well these things don't happen by accident. It takes a tremendous amount of planning and preperation to do these rides. You have my attention and respect.
Thanks, appreciate it. Yes, although we do all of that planning and preparation, we are still very grateful things work out and feel fortunate to do these adventures.
Wow! What an amazing ride! I live in Wenatchee so this was very interesting to watch. I had no idea the routes you took even existed. Thanks for making this video, so much awesome scenery 👍
Great video. Thanks for sharing such a great documentary of the route. Rest comfortably knowing the high route is much more spectacular than the low route and well worth the extra effort.
That looks like an amazing ride, 40 to 100 temperature swings and rainforest to desert. That's definitely on the to do list. like you say and i do too, life is short. cheers
You did an excellent job. For those that have ridden the route we recognize the epic shots but few capture it the way you did. Also it’s twice as long when you take the time to capture all those drone shots and two person ride by’s. Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks very much. If it were all easy it wouldn't maybe be as epic or rewarding. The awesomeness of the route more than makes up for it/makes it worth it.
This was a great and informative video! I’m thinking of doing this in 2024 and I have watched a couple other videos on this route but yours has been the most informative. Thank you!
This was really epic and I loved watching it. I can't believe you rode 13 big days like that back to back with no rest day. And carrying all that gear.
Amazing adventure footage of your bike tour of XWA. Thanks for sharing, looks like a lot of production work - thanks for taking the time. The curated music in this and all of your other videos always has me with on shazam creating cool tune playlists ... Keep this format its really enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for the great feedback. Appreciate it and glad you like it. It is always a work in progress. The time it takes is worth it in the end, especially the for the memories. Happy trails!
Great video and thanks for sharing! I like the longer format versions. It’s nice to see the full adventure in one series. I did not realize how varied the environment was is Washington. It look like some tough terrain made more difficult with high temps. Congratulations!
Thanks for the input on the video format and I agree. Yeah it's crazy how fast the environment changes in Washington, sure does make it fun. Thanks for watching, ride on!
Nicely done with music, narration, and videography, D. Glad you both had an awesome trip and well done with heart rate management on the long climb days. Sorry to hear about Dean. Thanks for sharing, sir
Beautifully filmed and well narrated video. I definitely like this format. I live in the Teton Valley now, but spent 54 years in Washington and have seen and loved all the places you rode through. On my list now. A much shorter route you might consider is the Oregon Outback; lots of diverse scenery and plenty of cattle gates!
Thanks, much appreciated. I saw some videos and pictures from around the grand depart time and was also surprised how different it looks. Washington is sure a beautiful state! Happy Trails.
Great video that shows the northern part of the PNW. Cycling is demanding but the rewards are priceless? Great video that shows the neighborhood state. Greetings from Oregon.
I'm an MTB'er however bikepacking looks incredibly appealing!! I have an idea to do a weekend tour to my old neighborhood, spend a day or two there then go home the way I came. it could happen =)
MTB is our passion, just like you. Defiantly should really give it a go! We got hooked right away with bikepacking/bicycle touring. You will love it! Happy Trails.
Great video of gorgeous country, Washington is a lot more diverse than people realize. I went to Washington State in Pullman, located in the Palouse not far from your endpoint, the rolling wheat fields have a special beauty at harvest time and you really captured it. Very enjoyable to watch
Thanks a lot. We have always been impressed with the state of Washington, but have mainly only seen the western side previous trips there so neat to see the changes as we rode east.
Nice looking ride in my backyard, I got my first mtn bike in 1981 and the first place I rode was RI Grade, made me question my sanity. Crop dusters aren't anything to mess with, last summer I got dusted near Quincy, WA riding and wound up with some respiratory issues.
Agree that it is a great route. Can't believe that Rock Island Grade was your first ride on a mountain bike and that you're still riding, lol. The crop dusting was definitely NOT a highlight. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, that was very informative. I have a couple questions. If flying into Seattle can you simply bike to the trail and head east, if you don’t need to start at the beginning? The car rental and multiple bus route to Port Angles looked like a pain. Second, how far are resupplies apart generally? It looked like most were a day or so? Third, can you ride the route on a Salsa Cutthroat or do you need a hard tail? Finally, thank you for showing the route all the way to Missoula. That was awesome.
Thanks . I would think that you would be able to just ride from the airport and make your way to the route, however, not exactly sure since we are not completely familiar with the area. That being said, the car rental and buses were surprisingly easy, more so than we anticipated. There is also a bus that goes straight from the airport to Port Angeles but the timing of when our plane arrived and when the bus left and got to Port Angeles did not work out well for us since we had time constraints. We felt like the Olympic peninsula section was probably one of the best ones along the route and would be a shame to miss out on it with bypassing it and picking up the route in Seattle. But that's our opinion. Supply points were pretty good with most being only a day or so. The longest was maybe on the high route since the store by Mineral springs campground was closed/had reduced hours and days open due to it being at the end of "season.". I would think a cut throat would work on this route as well. Hope you get to experience this route as it is a great one. Happy trails!
@@PedalPowerAdventures thank you for the valuable information. The trail looked fantastic. I think we would take the low road though. That high road looked pretty challenging. I was looking at either the Cross Washington Route or the BC trail. Flying into Seattle would probably work for either route. It’s good to know there is one bus available directly to Port Angles. Thank you. Well done!
We were debating on the BC Trail or XWA just like you are and will defiantly be doing the BC Trail sometime in the future. Let us know which one you decide and how it goes, don’t think you can go wrong with either route. We are so lucky to have all of these choices with bikepacking routes!
@@PedalPowerAdventures the only downside with the BC trail from Vancouver to Banff that I have learned of so far in my research is that the KVR was destroyed by flooding in 2021 from Hope to Princeton BC. It looks like the alternative is highway 3 for about 83 miles. It’s unclear when if ever they will repair it. It’s a shame because it looks like it was really a spectacular rail to trail before.
